Interviewed in the new issue of SFX, Prince Of Persia star Jake Gyllenhaal reveals how his research – ie, playing the Prince Of Persia games – led to him becoming a bit of a stunt designer on the film.
SFX: Had you ever played the Prince Of Persia videogames?
“I played the original game. I then played The Sands Of Time and its subsequent spawn while I was preparing for the movie. With The Sands Of Time I would bring in the stuntmen sometimes and be like, ‘Check out this move! Can we figure out how we can duplicate this thing?’ They’d be like, ‘Sure,’ and it would get incorporated. So I played it then. I played a lot of videogames when I was a kid. I was stuck with the original Nintendo and all the games that went with it, like Metroid and Mike Tyson’s Punch Out.” [Laughs.]

The Man Known As Prince
If Jerry Bruckheimer managed to make one of the best family blockbusters in recent memory from a theme park ride, just imagine what he can do with one of the most fun, addictive and downright satisfying videogames of the past decade. Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time, will be whipping up a (sand)storm in cinemas this summer so we’ve had a chat with the cast and crew for your ocular pleasure – including the lovely Gemma Arterton and Jake Gyllenhaal.

This issue is apparently on newsstands next week (April 7), in the U.K.
More Jakeness from across the pond. I found a few Oscar photos I hadn't seen yet. Well, the first ones, from backstage, are on IHJ. The rest are from Sky News. You know how much they like Jake!

Oh, the last one isn't new, I just like it :)
