Damn Yankees!

No, this isn't a Red Sox post! First, Jake was in a music video, now he's attached to a reel musical that combines his love of sports and singing.

Carrey, Gyllenhaal do 'Yankees'

New Line Cinema is playing ball with Jim Carrey and Jake Gyllenhaal on "Damn Yankees," attaching both actors to star in a contemporized film transfer of the classic musical.

Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel are set to write the script.

The musical is being produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the duo behind New Line's musical "Hairspray"; a sequel to that film is in the works.

"Damn Yankees," which bowed on Broadway in 1955 and won seven Tony Awards, focuses on Joe Boyd, a happily married middle-aged man whose devotion to a hapless pro baseball team prompts him to make a Faustian bargain with the devil to help the team. He's transformed into slugger Joe Hardy, in exchange for Boyd's soul. Boyd can break the deal, but the deadline occurs during the World Series. For good measure, the devil engages Lola, a gorgeous lost soul, to seduce the slugger and seal his fate.

The plan is for Carrey to play the devil, and Gyllenhaal to play Boyd. It's the first musical for each.
...

The trick is finding a balance that retains the show's classic tunes like "(You Gotta Have) Heart" and "Whatever Lola Wants," while injecting a contemporary feel on a musical that is firmly rooted in the 1950s. The intention is to get a script from Ganz and Mandel before meeting directors, and actresses who'll want to play Lola.

Blame It on the man

Or blame it on MTV for misinformation. On iTunes for being slow. But the Jake Gyllenhaal, er I mean, Jamie Foxx video is finally here. Like most of Jake's recent screen efforts, there was a delay, but they did make it in time for Wednesday. You can view it on youtube or buy a very nice version on iTunes.

Some caps:

Never enough Jake, but he is looking fine.

(Screencaps by us :) Until Stephanie makes better ones.)

At last

So the critics hated your dress and some people thought your make-up was emo. Who cares when you've got the best accessory a girl can have at the Academy Awards? No, not Oscar.

Jake.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon make the scene at the Vanity Fair party. And they look gorgeous.

"Oh no, she didn't!"

Penelope is having a very good night!

Little Greenie

Jake Gyllenhaal & Global Green USA Launch National Green Schools Initiative.

Jake and Global Green USA President Matt Petersen visit Green Service Day at the Global Green USA launch of National Green Schools Initiative at Manual Arts High School on February 19, 2009 in Los Angeles, California.

So not only do we get to see Jake in full-on horticulturist mode, a place I'm sure he's very comfortable in...

Because really it's just one step away from Farmer Jake and all that...

It seems he also paid a visit to the hair salon, blah blah blah, his hair looks gorgeous...but more importantly, it appears my personal prayers have been answered!!

Praise jebus! The caterpillars have been neutralized! Take THAT, Jennifer Connelly!

And from that 4 hour Fred Leighton expedition we get only one measly photo?

Wait a second...is he putting something in his pocket???

A very brief video, basically showing Jake's back at the store. But it's interspersed with Luxembourg Garden shots :)

By now, everyone has heard about Disney's plans to launch a Prince of Persia Lego series.

Great idea, but I think someone beat you to it, Mr. Bruckheimer:

Everybody is so happy!

The reviews are mixed, but it looks like Jake enjoyed himself.
