Junketing Jake

It was Source Code junket weekend in Los Angeles with Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan and Duncan Jones doing the rounds of international, national and local press. Sounds grueling for the main players, but for some of the interviewers, not so much:

I highly recommend sustained eye contact with Jake Gyllenhaal to brighten anyone's day.

Yeah, I could see the appeal in that.

The video interviews are trickling in. First up, Jake talking with an old junket friend, also named Jake:

Here's Jake with a reporter from unWiredTV:

Jake on Access Hollywood, talking about Anne Hathaway's hosting the Oscars, as well as his next movie:

And here he discusses working with Michelle and why he won't share his Quebecois accent:

Jake on the movie in light of real events:

A couple more treats from SXSW - the full Q&A session from the premiere:

I posted a link to this interview last week, but I hadn't noticed that you can listen to the audio. It's a roundtable interview, and it's fun to hear Jake's voice. It is spoiler-full, however, so listen with caution. Jake's enthusiasm for the film is apparent; I love how he describes a crew member's reaction after one pivotal scene. I wonder if he was able to sustain it through this whole weekend of questions.

Also from the junket:

While interviewing Jake Gyllenhaal at Source Code junket, had a Little Red Riding Hood moment: i.e. Jake! What big eyes you have!

Just got done interviewing Jake Gyllenhaal... And I was so tempted to ask him to marry me. He's so dreamy :)

Jake's eyes are a thing to behold and distracting when interviewing him I bet.

Thanks again for your great reporting of the beginning of the SC PR express, there is so much that I have to catch up on, the buzz has been very encouraging!

You're welcome, Mary and Paula! Posted some SC press conference pics. More of the high school yearbook poses :)

Have fun catching up, Paula. Hopefully there will be more to come!

I love the level of enthusiasm all these reporters have for Jake!

"More of the high school yearbook poses :)"

LOL!

What great photos of him, he looks really impish in the second one, and they do look like he is posing for his HS yearbook!

He looks really happy, I think it's because he had so much to do with SC behind the scenes.

I'm getting a kickout of all the tweets and FB accounts of people interviewing Jake, they say such nice things about him.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the reviews and buzz remain positive!

These pictures remind me of October Sky!

These reporters love Jake.

OT: Obama gave a great speech this afternoon. He spoke some words in Portuguese and showed a great knowledge about Brazil. He is a lovely person and very friendly.
Michelle is so charming and beautiful.

UltraViolet said...

Oh, that's great to hear, Monica. There's so much going on in the world; I hope the Obamas can enjoy Brazil a little.

OONP, someday we'll do a post with all the yearbook photos!

Added a couple of Access Hollywood videos to the post. Jake mentions the David Ayers movie.

Two herky jerky minutes from the SXSW SC panel are here.

They aired part of the speech here Monica, he is such a great speaker and Michelle is a beautiful person inside and out.

So it is the Ayers project as we suspected!

Jake Gyllenhaal on His 'Timely' New Disaster Flick
ET

I was surprised to realize I've seen three of Ayer's movies:
Training Day, Dark Blue, and Harsh Times. What I remember is that Ayer gets great performances from his principal actors, and his storylines seem to go off the rails in the last third of the movie, with the exception of Training Day, which (call me crazy)I enjoyed.

Ayer seems fixated on law enforcement, the corruption, the stresses, the schemes, etc. I'm surprised he hasn't developed a TV series on the subject. I'm adopting a wait & see attitude on this one.

Jake must have found something attractive in the story and the character. I'm very anxious to see who will co-star in the movie.

Thanks for the new videos, UV, monica. Access seems to like him, treat him well. ET as well.

I'm enjoying the Obamas in Brazil!:)

UltraViolet said...

Thanks, Monica. I added that one, as well as an AP video, as well.

I disagree with you on Training Day, though. I thought it was a really good movie, and Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke were both great. I hope this movie will be as good. I'm curious to see who Jake's partner will be.

OONP, I was hoping Jake had something else up his sleeve, as well. But so far, only the Ayers flick has been mentioned.

Jake says Bourne rumor is not true.

Damn!

Maybe he just means it's not true for now?

love his reply to the on the market question he always has a witty response:)

bobbyanna said...

Dang, UV! I'm blaming it on how the question was worded. I'm going with your interpretation: "not true for now." ; )

Monica said...

So, was Variety wrong? (again, Variety?)
I also was not very happy about Bourne Legacy.

Chica said...

I love watching that first video.

That interviewer is great and I remember him with Jake and Anne during LAOD promo.

Too bad about the Bourne rumor, I though that would have been great for him.

I liked Training day too even though they gave Denzel the AA for that role to make up for not getting it for Malcom X IMO.

He is having so much fun in these interviews but here is a serious tone (Japan). I'm glad that he has touched on the unfolding tragedy.

I hope that SC gets the same enthusiastic response on Aptil 1st as it did at SXSW.

I have given up trying to avoid all the spoilery stuff, there was one thing I read and shared with my hubby now he can't wait to see it!

From Twitter:

"Just had a lovely vegan meal with Jake Gyllenhal and the Zach Braff looking guy from HIMYM. Also, I got a contact high from my waiter."

culdn't find any details as to where, and I have no idea what HIMYM means. But I bet someone else might : )

bobbyanna said...

OK. It's How I Met Your Mother, and I bet it was Jason Segel.

A very funny interview with Jake and Duncan Jones: vimeo

I think it's the same interview that is on site(Not working for me): MakingOf

UltraViolet said...

Oh, Bobbyanna, I'd love it if it were Jason Segel. Sadly, I bet it was the HIMYM lead, Josh Radnor.

New screening, new post :)
