Thanks, UV. Beautiful. He really is. The Oscars seem kind of flat without Jake.

I was so glad A Separation won Best Foreign Film.

So far no surprises, but it's early. Congrats, Olivia Spencer.

Very true. Very flat. Everyone's too cool for school. Puss in Boots was robbed I tell ya, robbed! Well done Octavia. Cirque du Soliel magnifique.

Oops that was me.

Love Christopher Plummer. Didn't like the movie, even though I love Ewan McG (hi Monica :)

Things are very flat.

bobbyanna said...

Yes! Sheba, I loved Cirque Du Soliel!
Aww, UV. It was a sweet movie. Maybe I was just in a mood. : )

Christopher PLummer sure is a class act.

Did I say I really miss Jake?

Hi, don't Ican'tin seeing the oscars in my country, I have read on twitter that someone has made a joke on Jake it is true? and if yes what hey have said?

Just my opinion said...

I am pretty happy with the major awards tonite, I know Oscar gets a lot of criticism but I think it got it right tonite, to be honest it was the nominations in many caterogories that were wrong. George Clooney is way overrated as an actor much like Leonardo, I think HW just nominate them just because. But Jean deserve the win, he didn't rely on dialogue that has been over used and overacted. I swear George Clooney has been nominated for the same character since his first nomination.

As for Meryl, the woman does not play the HW game and is just a classy broad who knows how to make you forget its Meryl Streep on the screen, her roles are iconic. I love Michelle, but I just didn't buy the Marilyn character, her character in that movie was pretty much what she plays in every role. Marilyn was alot like other characters that Michelle plays, the tortured soul. And I love Michelle.

I didn't like the Help because as a woman of color I didn't find the movie enpowering. Racism is still big in America, the success of that movie in America speaks volumes to me.

I was able to leave work early due to a low census on my floor so I only missed the first half hour Im happy that the artist and that christopher plummer won liked his speech was a little surpised that meryl won I thought viola davis would get it but im happy for her.

I didnt hear any joke about Jake where did u hear that?

bobbyanna said...

Glad you got to see it mary! I thought the remark was pretty harmless. Chris Rock presented an award for animated films and talked about how a white man could play an Arabian prince, and a black man could play a donkey.

I didn'teven think he was taking about Jake, but some people on twitter apparently did. It didn't really stand out anyway. It was lost in the fog of awards banter.

Mary said...

oh I remember now Bobbyanna I did think of Jake when he said that but like u said really no harm meant

What was the joke? said...

I didn't hear a jake joke.

From Nikke Finke:
Film Editing
“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” (Sony Pictures Releasing) Kirk Baxter and Angus Wall

They won last year for The Social Network. Obviously, the Academy gives Oscars to people who survived working with that pain-in-the-ass David Fincher.

lol

I don't think the Chris Rock Arabian prince joke was aimed at Jake, if that's what people on twitter were referring to.

Also, I have the move Overboard. :)

Glad you got to see the awards, MAry, though they were really boring. And Billy Crystal was terrible. Time for a new host.

I didn't see the Oscars live because i would have to stay up all night and Jake was not there so it wasn't worth the waiting:)

But this morning I was very happy to see the Artist got recognize, it's a wonderful movie and to do a silent movie in our days takes courage.

I have to agree with UV, from the bits i saw from the ceremony it was very boring.

I didn't get to post here last night, I wasn't online during the telecast.

The show was a bit dull and I'm not a fan of Crystal.

The only real surprise if you can call it that was Streep's win, most were predicitng Davis but I'm happy with Meryl's win.

I loved Octavia's speech and Jean was so charming, made me miss Jake there.

I happen to like Billy Crystal, I'm glad that Eddie Murphy dropped out cause I think that would have been a disaster. Sure there were some dull moments but I think overall it was good.

One other host I'd like to see them bring back is Ellen.

This is serious health food place. Ugh.

I finally woke up from the coma that was the Oscars, what a snoozefest.

Billy played too safe, he wasn't bad but it was the same stuff he did at his previous stints.

No surprises, I would have loived if Viloa won but Meryl deserved the win, Her speech was funny and classy.
And for those of you who have not yet seen The Artist, please do. It's a lovely, charming homage to the early talkies and Jean is a revelation.

Best dressed actress hands down IMO was Glen Close, she looked fabulous!

Chica said...

^^^^^^
I meant to add that to my comments from this morning, talk about coma, LOL!!

Office of Nancy Pelosi said...

I agree that they were dull, dull, dull! I loved Plummer's and Spencer's speeches and I loaved how Payne & Co.mocked Angelina's leg stance when they won the Best Apt. screenplay but those were the highlights IMO.

The Iron Lady was crap but Meryl was magnificant in it and deserved the win. I would have been thrilled if Viola won but it's not like she was robbed of the win.

What's with the new blogger page. It's horrible.

I like Billy Crystal, but he did a bad job last night. Bad jokes, bad pacing, bad gags. Just bad.

You don't "dig" the health food, Bobbyanna? :)

Extra said...

The new blogger format stinks!

Crystal wasn't bad it's just that he didn't so anything new and he looked really freakish, too much botox???

The winners were all deserving IMO so I wasn't disappointed. They just seemed a little low key this year.

Missed Jake there this year, hopefully he will be making an appearance next year.

bobbyanna said...

This really is a terrible format! Shame on blogger!

UV, that Dig Inn restaurant is seriously healthy. : ) They only use egg whites, they use no oil, no sugar, everything's organic, etc. etc. They do serve meat, but in a very limited way. Juices of course.

I sure missed Jake, too. There were a lot of missing people this year, and honestly, I had awards season fatigue.I do think Meryl was wrong. She said this was the last time she'd be up there. I don't agree. : )

At least we had Jake at the Golden Globes. I was looking at the Awards BBM won. At last Bafta and GG and some of the critics awards (like San Diego, Chicago, Las Vegas AND New York) got it right

Blogger chanced their format or something?

Would have been nice if the anon came back and told us how or why s/he thinks Jake is in talks to play a drug addict.

Hit and run posting just to ask a question without offering any helpful information or thanks is not cool

There have been a few funny Jake/Soul Cycle tweets lately. From the other day:

Inaugural soul cycle class ended with me shadow boxing jake gyllenhaal while instructor straddles his bike bars screaming harder #surreal

First official Jake Gyllenhaal sighting at Soul Cycle. Ladies; if you like your Jake hot n sweaty Saturdays 1pm Union Sq is where it's at.

bobbyanna said...

The SoulCycle tweets are fun, UV.

I was just looking at the pictures again, and noticed that in the NYT Style article, Jake's wearing a single-breasted jacket and in the pictures from 2011, he is wearing a double- breasted. I think I love him in the double-breasted best.

(I know. I'm going to go do something productive...)

(I had a ton of phone messages from robocalls telling me, that if I'm a Democrat or an Independent, to vote for Santorum today. Michigan Primary.)

I see that I wasn't the only one here underwhelmed with this year's Oscars. I wish they would take a clue from the Bafta's.

I like Meryl but I was hoping for Viola to win.

If I was living in Michigan I would vote for Rick Bobbyanna just to piss off Mittens!

It's been fun watching the GOP implode, ha, ha!!!

A new place for Jake?

So tonight, not only did my stepfather get to enjoy a nice meal at Joe's Shanghai, but he got to enjoy it with Jake Gyllenhaal.

Like, they actually held a conversation? That's pretty sweet; Jake Gyllenhaal's a cool dude

From tumblr:

I get on the Q Train Heading downtown, I look around, usual random people, then I see you starting down.

I was just thinking you were some random hot guy, then you lift your head up and i see that it’s you, I smile awkwardly and you smile back…

Maybe one of the most epic moments of this year (so far)

Lucky rider!

I wonder if Jake is still clean shaven, none of the tweeters has said they spotted him with a beard.

I like cycling but I don't think I am ready for spinning yet, but I think my head would be if I spotted Jake :D
