And so it begins...

IHJ has just posted four new shots of Jake Gyllenhaal. These stills will be used in the upcoming promotion for Prince of Persia.

Bring it on!

And so they have - four more shots, starting with Gyllenhaal, Jake Gyllenhaal:

Kendra also found some new PoP stills. I think this is the only one we haven't seen before:

And a beautiful shot of Gemma:

These are absolutely gor-juss! The dark suit is a killah. *thud*

Well, this is a nice surprise! Thanks to IHJ and UV.

As much as I love his expression in the first photo (blood pressure spike!), the last pic is my favorite. I'm such a sucker for that dimple. :)

I'm so happy that now I can look forward to the Oscars on Sunday. Here's what I'm wondering...... is Jake going to let Maggie in on what he planning for her introduction ahead of time, or is he going to totally surprise her?

I know most people prefer him in a tux, but for my money his All Time Best Red Carpet look was the 2007 BAFTA's. That was one fabulous suit..... modern, yet classic and it fit him perfectly. (sigh)

I'm in love with the first and last.
The eyes and the beautiful smile... wow
So yummy!!!

UltraViolet said...

Me, too, Monica, that's why I put them in that order - beginning and ending with the best. I think the last one is my absolute favorite. But as anon said, they are all gorgeous :)

Suvee, if Jake is introducing Maggie, I bet he won't tell her!

The 2007 BAFTAs was a great look. I don't know if I could decide. Maybe we'll have to have a post/poll for Jake's best formal look!

bobbyanna said...

I love them all, but I love the smiling one the most.
Are these maybe left over from the magazine shoot?
He looks great in anything...or nothing much. :)

No one in the world looks this good.

I think we should! :)

UltraViolet said...

I'll file that post idea away for a rainy day!

Bobbyanna, Stephanie said she assumes there are more where these came from. So that's something else to look forward to :)

bobbyanna said...

Just thought of something. This is probably pretty close to how Jake is going to look in LAOD, too.

He's just a classic. Right up there with Cary Grant. Amazing talent, charisma, a lovely personality, and he's beyond beautiful.

OK. Enough gushing! I think it's past my bed time anyway. :)

jake looks stunning cant wait to see more

UltraViolet said...

Stunning. Classic. About sums it up :)

As for how he'll look in LaOD, let's hear from a twitterer who saw it tonight:

Oh my... Love and Other Drugs... brilliant. And Jake Gyllenhaal's bod was effing magnificent.

If you're still up. hope that will make you smile, Bobbyanna. Or it's something fun to wake up to!

Hope we hear some more from the screening.

And it does begin, what gorgeous photos to wake up to!

These photos are stunning, what a beautiful smile.

Can't wait to see himar rhe Oscars on Sunday!!

I think the early comments about LAOD we saw where from the guys who were so thrilled about the nudity of Anne - they could care less if Jake was in the movie.
So nice to see the other side.
Tho i'm sure they will be most pleased when people speak of their performances too.
And esp. liking the movie.

Chica said...

I second that *THUD*! That first photo is smoldering, the last one is my fav of the bunch. And there is more where this came from? I don't think my poor heart can take it!

This and the Oscars on Sunday, almost too much to handle!! Has it been confirmed what category that Jake will present?

Looking forward to reading more reviews from the LAOD screning.

UltraViolet said...

Sheba baby, I think you were posting too early or were thrown by the photos, I was wondering who "himar" is :)

I kid, you know that! I make more typos than anyone.

It is nice to see JAke being appreciated, anon :)

Chica, I don't think we know what Jake will be doing at the Oscars for sure. Pure speculation so far.

Some more from the tweeter:

This movie was def not Disney material due to excessive nekkidness.

Like the sound of that!

And from another tweeter:

it was good, but pretty racy!

Why the "but" :)

Sheba baby said...

Too early, too much hotness and not enough caffine!

I can't wait to see his hotness on Sunday. I know that he usually doesn't do the red carpet thing but we can all hope.

I don't think I have seen that still from Pop, it's beautiful and so is Gemma, thanks Kendra and UV!

UltraViolet said...

I hope Jake does the red carpet, too sheba b. It's been too long!

Well, the first negative LaOD review. Not the most coherent review, but it echoes some of the criticism from the Hollywood Elsewhere reviewer:

drama? comedy? they dont know. uneven, repetitive, poorly paced.
this suffers from the "trying to fit too much into 2 hours" category.

i wont do any spoilers, but we seem the watch the same scenes over and over,
each written slightly different.

the whole cast is stars, its a wonder this cant stand up. jake and anne are both beautiful, and there is lots of nudity. anne cant seem to keep her shirt on, which is a shame. it wasnt important that i see her breasts over and over again. it made me embarrassed for her. why was this necessary?

jake is great, he needs to work more. i like him a lot. as i do anne. but this movie really sucked. entire parts of it could be left out and it would still be
too long. it just couldnt decide what it wanted to be.

1) romance?
2) a statement about the pharmacrime?
3) a film about parkinsons?
4) a film about a son who doesnt live up to his expectations?
5)comedy?

just bad. lets hope they save this in editing as i was at the screener version.

Posted four more shots released. Love them all but the one with the scarf and the trenchcoat. Maybe that one will grow on me :)

Thanks so much to Stephanie!

You can see the maturity and how much he has grown into such a handsome man. Thanks so much Stephanie and UV! He really does look sexy, love the pic of him in the tie , perfection.

The red carpet would be great this Sunday, fingers crossed!

I haven't read the review over on Hollywoodelsewhere UV.

From the sound of that review, they think it will need some editing, I hope that's all it is.

PS: I wonder if these are out takes from GQ although shots like these usually come out after, not before.

UltraViolet said...

Yeah, I assume they are outtakes and that GQ/whoever is saving the ones they will use in their story/spread.

here's the review on Hollywood Elsewhere, OONP. A rave for Anne; not so much for Jake. Mixed but overall positive critique of the movie.

Anonymous said...

At least they liked Jake too.
Again, the movie isn't out until Nov. They will do some tweeking I'm sure. Not everyone will like it but i think overall they will.
The older review on Hollywood Elsewhere. You can see by most of the comments they are big Anne fans. Lots of guy comment on this site and Anne is it for them.
(and she is wonderful) But it's also a sight that has never been that friendly toward Jake so he could be great (as that negative review at least did say) and they would not acknowledge it.

I really like that LaOD doesn't fit into a neat category - that's why I don't usually like romcoms, because they are to formulaic. The romance sounds fantastic, a deep love affair with all that entails, but such a difficult one with two unqique personalties, will they fit together? Also some good commentary about the state of pharmaceutical care, without being too heavy handed.

bobbyanna said...

Sounds to me like some "reviewers" come into the theater with the baggage of their own expectations...which we all do to some extent.

OTOH, a film's focus has to be clear or audiences feel misled. I'm sure they'll tweak and edit, etc. Hope these advance screenings give valuable feedback. Obviously, romantic comedies need serious moments and serious movies need light moments.

I am loving these pictures.

Carla said...

Those pictures are wonderful - my favourite is the last of the first four...the boyishness is gone, he is a man and incredibly good looking....

There will never be a movie that everyone likes - always people who will be complaining. But the majority of the test screeners so far loves the film.

As a European I am used to nudity and I don´t have problems with Annes boobies as long as it is related to the story blablabla....

.....and as long as there is enough sexy, nude Jake....:-)

UltraViolet said...

Exactly, Carla!

I'd like to hear a few more reactions. I'm sure there will be tweaking and cutting and hopefully they'll get the balance right. As long as they don't cut out naked Jake!

Here's an interview with David Belle, aka Mr. Parkour. The language difference results in some miscommunication.

I have no problems with nudity too, but it should be according to the story. I believe that in Laod it is in favor of history.

I love the new photos. Thanks UV and Steph.

WOW...GUH...SWOON! GORGEOUS pictures!!! Jake looks stunning in these....SIGH. :D

Great great stuff on PoP, LAOD, etc, etc. Wonderful time to be a Jake fan. :D

I have no problem with nudity if it enhances the story. I think Anne and Jake are great actors and I don't have much of an issue with it.

Back to drooling at teh beautiful pics.....

Cathy E said...

I have no problem with nudity either if it is a believable part of the story. Obviously, a deeply emotional and physical relationship between two people is going to have some nudity. That's the way they describe the relationship. It's part of the story. I think it will be beautiful!

Paula said...

He looks gorgeous in all of these photos but I like the 4th one in the first set best. Love his sexy and devilish smile!

I have no problem with nudity in films as long as it's driven by the story and not just used for "shock' value.

Looking forward to him presenting at the oscars this Sunday!

Thanks so much for the link to the LAOD review on Hollywoodelsewhere UV. Mixed review overall, they give kudos to Anne, not s o much to Jake. Hope that changes when it's released.

Loved reading the D. Belle, I think I got most of it, he worked with little Dastan!

I'm not going to get upset over these very early reviews of LAOD. Unless a movie is getting universal raves or universal pans, I'm not influenced much by reviews anyway. Rendition is a good example..... I thought it was a far better movie than almost all the reviews I read. It's actually one of my very favorite Jake movies.

Love all these new photos! I am mesmerized by the last one in the second set..... he really does have an exquisite left profile. One of the best in the business. :)

Shondra said...

He does have a beautiful left profile doesn't he? The photos are stunning.

I try not to read too much into early reviews. LOAD still has editing and tweeking to be done.

I liked Rendition too Suvee, it didn't deserve the negative reviews it got.

Bong Joon-Ho :

I was wondering if you saw "Zodiac," which is the closest thing we have in the U.S. to "Memories of Murder," at least recently.
I did watch the film, I did enjoy it and I had a lot of fun with it. In fact, I have two versions of the DVD. I had a chance to meet with Jake Gyllenhaal about two years ago and I really enjoyed having lunch with him. It was a short meeting but I really enjoyed Jake. And when I was staying in San Francisco for about a month or so I really wanted to go to the locations in the film and that's how much I really enjoyed it. It was one of the best films I saw that year.

He is one of the best directors of today.

UltraViolet said...

Monica, I think we saw a version of that in a story last week. Don't remember the part about lunch, but they were speculating on what role he might have wanted Jake for.

New PoP stills, new post :)
