Breaking: Jake has a new t-shirt
Look at all the pretty. Horses.
Remember the Gilded Moose? They would have had great fun with the most recent candids of Jake, all of which involve him leaving a building and getting into a car. Fascinating stuff!
I think there would have been concern that he'd trip himself up in that uselessly long key chain:
And a note about how deftly Jake handles the towel (with rolled-up shorts, presumably), bottled water, cell phone and dog leash, er keychain:
Then relief when he makes it safely to the car!
If you want to see all of this in breath-taking live motion, go to X17. They have a few of Jake's recent gym exits on tap
Just a note: This isn't Jake's first Ice Age:
No, but seriously, he had some earlier this month:
And many years ago, when he spent time away from the gym. And in jeans. And had a beeper, apparently:

Surprise - Jake leaving the gym!
Photos of Jake Gyllenhaal after spending some time at the gym on Saturday in Studio City:
Gente, an Argentinean magazine, has published an interesting interview with Jake. Jake talks about his relationship with Heath and Matilda:
With translation hel from Google and Monica:
How was working with Heath Ledger and how do you remember him?
Everyone asks me that ... and how it was to kiss him. He has an extraordinary talent and he is much more extraordinary as a person. Between us was born a great friendship.
Besides friends, you're the godfather of his daughter Matilda.
It's an awesome responsibility.
You see her often?
All the time that Hollywood lets me.
It is true that the kissing scenes with Heath Ledger caused doubts about your sexuality?
Only in the minds of donkeys.* Brokeback Mountain is much more than a kiss between two men. Everything depends on intelligence of the viewer.
*My translation was "Only among fools" but I like the more expressive words, too!
MuchMusic also has a video interview from PoP promotion. Jake was in a fun mood:

New post, old stomping grounds
No idea if this is total BS: 1. 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' Star Jake Gyllenhaal was spotted leaving the doctors office in Beverly Hills, CA on June 23, 2010. When asked, Gyllenhaal's driver told photographers that Jake has been feeling sick lately and therefore going to the doctors office a little more than usual.
Yes, it's true! We've been enjoying a post-PoP rest around here, but the last post was getting a bit long in the tooth and short on inspiration. All we needed was a visit to the doctor, and we're back. No, not me or FL. Jake Gyllenhaal was seen leaving his favorite medical building yesterday. Keeping himself and GB healthy in one fell swoop.
Thanks, Jake!
Some odds and ends:
If you want to vote for Jake's swords and sandals look, People has a poll.
I posted this link in comments on another post, but not sure folks saw it. Just another PoP interview, but in a different setting. We saw one other video from this elaborate set up - where are all the others?! Maybe it was for DVD purposes?
That was Jake at the Farmers' Market in Hollywood on Sunday. Sure, he was showing off those beautiful arms. But where was his trusty "old-lady basket?!"
Here's a photo I'd never seen it was posted on FanForum. Jake and some admirers at a Tour de France/Discovery Team party in Paris in July, 2006:
And just because I missed posting any of these the other day:
I do love Pellegrino :)

Jake at the Celtics game
Jake Gyllenhaal at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last night:
"I'm too sexy for this game."
Jake meets up with an old friend.
Jake arriving at the Staples Center, with Adam Levine. Many other old friends, including Ellen Pompeo and Kirsten Dunst, were also in attendance.
And at the game:
After the game, Jake joined Adam and other friends at Dan Tana's. Ryan Phillippe was also there and not happy to see photographers. You can see Jake and Adam leaving at the end of this clip.
The vide says Ryan and Jake dined together, but the X17 photos say they just ran into each other. The commentary on both is, as always, ridiculous.
That's about it for the good news! It's always hard to be a gracious loser, especially when the winners are the Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant, in particular. But congratulations to L.A. on their 10th NBA championship.

GyllenBabel
You might remember my fascination with Moscow Jake. That whole trip was so unexpected and produced so many gems that it might be my favorite part of the whole PoP extravaganza. With the aid of online translation services, I took a look at a few interviews Jake did while in Russia. I don't know if Jake was more comfortable in the setting or if the local interviewers were bolder, but Jake talked about some things that he usually avoids.
From Everyone chooses where he is born:
- Your father is a director and your mother, a writer. Did they have a strong influence on your development?
- My father often was not home, but I still felt his authority in our household. Parents have to have very great influence, which I still feel. But in general I think that everyone chooses the family in which they are born.
- Interesting. On what faith do you base this?
- I'm a somewhat of a Buddhist. Therefore, I believe that we each selects our fate in order to understand something new and necessary about ourselves.
- Your father - Christian, mother - Jewish. But you are suddenly a Buddhist?
- I think that the divorce of my parents, and everything that preceded it, influenced this.
- What preceded it?
- I don't mean family scandals. Just that people change over time, and their paths diverge. Some relationships last a lifetime; others for a shorter period. This doesn't mean they weren't happy with each other. My parents lived together more than thirty years. That's a long time, and I respect their decision. I love them no less now than before. ...
- It's no secret that you were a friend of Heath Ledger's. You didn't notice anything strange about his behavior?
- No, I always admired him. He was nervous, it's true. And he was a very sensitive person. But to survive in Hollywood, you have to be thick-skinned.
- And how you survive in Hollywood?
- I meditate.
In another interview, Jake mentions Reese:
- Hello. I'm fascinated by Moscow. You have such a beautiful and sympathetic people.
- Thank you. So, perhaps you'll stay here?
- With pleasure. You know, I'm very nice with the ladies, a real gentleman. After parting with Reese Witherspoon, I'm still single. But here surrounded by such beautiful girls, I would find happiness. ...
- Has your life changed since you've become a star?
- Of course! When I came here, I was waiting for a bath with champagne and a beautiful girl, catering to my whims. This is a joke. To be honest, I don't feel like a star. The only thing that impresses me is respect from people I've always looked up to. This happened after the Oscar nomination for "Brokeback Mountain." That professional recognition gave me a lot of exciting opportunities and a sense of confidence.
I've seen this quote about Reese in several articles:
- Reese and I really don't communicate now. After splitting from her, I haven't had a serious relationship. I'm single.
It's hard to know, without a video, if Jake actually mentioned her specifically or if her name was added in by the reporters. I'd love to hear/see for myself!
In this Russian interview, Jake talks about the "WMD" aspect of PoP and whether it's overtly political. He also teases the interviewer about the "novelty" of her questions. (There's a voiceover translation, but you can hear Jake underneath.)
Here's the Moscow press conference. It's harder to hear but fun to watch the interaction between Jake and Gemma, especially. This is a link to a story about the conference. If you google translate it, some of the conference might make more sense :)
This video needs no translation:
In totally unrelated, non_russian news, Jake was spotted leaving the Dodgers game on Sunday:

New Eyes for the Needy's New Chair
Amid the Prince of Persia promotional frenzy last month, Jake Gyllenhaal paid a visit to the Short Hills, New Jersey, headquarters of New Eyes for the Needy, a cause Jake has supported.
Actor Jake Gyllenhaal took time away from his schedule to visit New Eyes for the Needy on May 24 to meet with volunteers and staff, but it wasn't an unusual visit for him.
Gyllenhaal's connection to the Short Hills nonprofit goes back many years. "I've had really poor vision ever since I was a little kid—my mom first took me to the doctor because I was smacking into walls—and every time my prescription changed, we gave my old glasses to New Eyes" Gyllenhaal said to InStyle magazine last year, according to a New Eyes for the Needy press release. "So when I started looking for a cause that I had a strong visceral connection to, I thought of it and wanted to help bring awareness to its work."
"Jake has been a great advocate for New Eyes for several years now," said
Susan Dyckman, executive director of New Eyes for the Needy, in the press release. "He has been instrumental to New Eyes' fundraising through his help in gaining foundation grants—and with his celebrity, he has raised national awareness of New Eyes by promoting our cause in magazine profiles."
Gyllenhaal, who most recently starred in "The Prince of Persia," mingled with volunteer and staff members, speaking to all and thanking them for the important work they do. He pledged to further his commitment to help New Eyes.
"Jake has agreed to chair the newly formed Advisory Committee for New Eyes," said Clelia Biamonti, board president of New Eyes, in the release. "We are lucky and happy to have Jake on our side- encouraging us and believing in the work we do."
It was just about two years ago that we first learned of Jake's involvement, through this video appeal for New Eyes:
If you need assistance or would like to support New Eyes, visit their website.
Remember when Jake Gyllenhaal appeared on the Jonathan Ross show and was forced to eat pickled onions. One audience member got to challenge Jake in a contest, and the video is now up on Jonathan Ross's site. And here it is:
Jake and Adam Levine hit the town on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. The paps were on their trail, but didn't shoot them until the last stop.
