New post, old stomping grounds

No idea if this is total BS: 1. 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' Star Jake Gyllenhaal was spotted leaving the doctors office in Beverly Hills, CA on June 23, 2010. When asked, Gyllenhaal's driver told photographers that Jake has been feeling sick lately and therefore going to the doctors office a little more than usual.

Yes, it's true! We've been enjoying a post-PoP rest around here, but the last post was getting a bit long in the tooth and short on inspiration. All we needed was a visit to the doctor, and we're back. No, not me or FL. Jake Gyllenhaal was seen leaving his favorite medical building yesterday. Keeping himself and GB healthy in one fell swoop.

Thanks, Jake!

Some odds and ends:

If you want to vote for Jake's swords and sandals look, People has a poll.

I posted this link in comments on another post, but not sure folks saw it. Just another PoP interview, but in a different setting. We saw one other video from this elaborate set up - where are all the others?! Maybe it was for DVD purposes?

That was Jake at the Farmers' Market in Hollywood on Sunday. Sure, he was showing off those beautiful arms. But where was his trusty "old-lady basket?!"

Here's a photo I'd never seen it was posted on FanForum. Jake and some admirers at a Tour de France/Discovery Team party in Paris in July, 2006:

And just because I missed posting any of these the other day:

I do love Pellegrino :)

Yay! USA USA USA!!! And the team lives another day!

Yay! Engerland Engerland Engerland!!!

Oh and Busy Philipps has great legs.

And Jake has new trainers.

The Paris picture with fans is new to me too. Jake looks very handsome. :)

UltraViolet said...

He does, indeed, JF!

There's also an epic battle going on at Wimbledon, where the match is 28-27 in the fifth set. They've been playing for six hours! And of course, no one in England cares, because they were all watching soccer and are now celebrating :)

Apparently Fox Searchlight did a presentation at Cine Expo, including a look (don't know how long) at LaOD:

Cine Expo: Fox flies with Rio footage, racy Anne Hathaway in Love and Other Drugs

Sadly, that is a paid subscription site. Boo. Maybe we'll hear more, like this from twitter:

Fox serchlight films look good-Black Swan, and Love and other drugs-sex and humour with a very fit Jake Giylenhall

UltraViolet said...

God bless that Natalie Portman site - I checked there since Black Swan was mentioned. They linked to a blog with the full story - not much more than was in the headline:

Also attracting exhibitor buzz were scenes of Anne Hathaway getting racy in Love and Other Drugs, a romantic comedy co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal directed by Ed Zwick (launching in the US Nov 24 and internationally in Jan 2011).

The emphasis on AH's raciness bugs. It's Jake we want to see!

I think it will be a big release!

I'm anxious to the first official pictures and trailer!

Go USA & UK!!! I never thought I would be getting excited about soccer, but I hve to admit I'm hooked at the moment.

I think LAOD will be a big release Monica even though it has an indie feel to it.

I want to hear about racy Jake too UV!

LOL@ Jake an the old lady shopping cart at the FM, I prefer the other pic of him there with Busy and family showing his guns!

I haven't seen that fan pic before either UV, was it really 4 years ago that Jake was hanging with Lance and McBongo?? Time sure flies!

Jake at the Medical building like clockwork!

Yep, looks like another movie is on its way. Those visit usually have something to do with that type of thing.

Clueless soccer "fans". If you're going to cheer for a team you should at least understand how the World Cup works. There was no way to cheer for both USA and England because only one of them was going to advance to the next round. USA winning today means England has been knocked out.

UltraViolet said...

Hahahahahaha. Another know-it-all anon that knows nothing! FIFA Standings:

Group C
Team MP W D L GF GA Points
USA 3 1 2 0 4 3 5
England 3 1 2 0 2 1 5
Slovenia 3 1 1 1 3 3 4
Algeria 3 0 1 2 0 2 1

Think you are the clueless one Anon 3:10, With both USA and England winning, means they came 1st and 2nd in their group so both qualify for the next round.

UltraViolet said...

Updated the post with a new pic of Jake at the doctor's - and a quote from the driver that Jake isn't feeling good these days. No idea if it's true.

Carla said...

Congratulations to the US Team! That was so great - a goal during the last minutes!!!

And congrats to the English team as well - now the old classic game will happen again - England vs. Germany....

I am partying and a bit drunk....:-))

I am getting the feeling LAOD will be a very successful movie.
"I'm anxious to the first official pictures and trailer!"

Me too, Monica!

Jake working out and visiting the doctor - smells like another film.....

Oh UV,you couldn't be more wrong. Everyone I know had been watching the match and text'd me to ask if the score is true. They're all routing for Isner (USA) (me too :) What a fantastic epic match, more tomorrow (I think its 59 - 59). USA and England have done well today (understatement). My heart went out to Bafana Bafana who tried valiantly to get through but alas...

After all you've been doing these past weeks we totally forgive you for the long gap between posts and yes, our health has been restored in a single sword swipe. Hope you've been getting some rest.

UltraViolet said...

Congrats to Germany too, Carla. Kudos all around.

I'm trying not to be greedy since we just had all that PoP stuff. But I really want to see some photos and a trailer, too. I think the Brothers trailer came out about five months before the film so that would work for LaOD.

Not that I want the LaOD folks taking any tips from the Brothers marketing "effort."

Oh, that fish dish looked delish but I just couldn't get past his finger nails.

What an epic at Wimbledon: 10 hours, WOW!!

Congrats to both the USA and England on their wins. Looks like I have something else to pay attention to along with the Mets!

Those dishes sound delish, glad to see Chris back blogging.

I hope Jake is OK, maybe the driver was jokng. I can't believe they would say that to a pap even if true.

I csn't wait for LAOD, I have good vibes about this film. Let's just hope they know how to market properly!!

Can't imagine someone telling the paps. anything.
Isn't this the first sighting of him at this place in quite a while.

suvee said...

Okay, my first thought was, "I can't believe his driver really blabbed to the paps about Jake being sick.".

And then my second thought was, "Wait a minute..... since when does he have a driver take him to a doctor's appointment?".

And my third thought was, "He did look a little puny in those photos with Naomi. I assumed he had just rolled out of bed, but looking at them again, he could be coming down with something.".

Or, hopefully, this really is nothing more than his upcoming next movie medical check up. Hope so!

And I, too, hope PoP breaks the $100 million mark domestically. I mean, I never thought it was going to be a mammoth BO hit, but I really did think it would do better than it has in the U.S. At least it's worldwide numbers are decent...... but I'm not expecting a sequel.

Monica said...

Hmm .. I always see the paparazzi's as liars and exaggerated. I hope Jake's driver has not spoken anything for these despicable beings.
If he spoke, he was wrong. That does not interest anybody, and I think Jake would not like to know he did it.

UltraViolet said...

Its true that you can't really trust what the paps say, Monica. Most of the time, they can't even get the location right!

If it were a professional driver, Jake probably wouldn't be getting into the front seat. If it was a friend, I doubt they'd say anything.

One site said it was Jake's assistant who said he was sick. Again, hard to believe they'd reveal something like that.

In any case, if it's true, hope he feels better soon!

Thanks for the post-PoP posting pass, Sheba! I was exaggerating for effect because I read that spectators at Wimbledon were lackluster in their responses and most were looking at their phones to keep track of the WC match. I figured especially by the end that a substantial number of people were watching. I kept checking the score at work and couldn't believe it. It's a shame that one of them will lose.

I loved watching Chris cook, but I had the same issue with the fingernails. I don't care how "authentic" it is!

Chica, I wondered if that was you :) Let's hope your good vibes for LaOD are on track.

Monica said...

I forgot to comment about Chris. Oh, he's very sexy. So sexy, that I forgive his nails!

mary said...

hopefully that visit to the medical office has to do with a new movie which is usually the case and if true that jake is sick that driver shouldnt of said anything

UltraViolet said...

From a story about a Source Code actor:

In the film, he does not share scenes/dialogue (?) with Jake Gyllenhaal, but he still managed to rub shoulders with celebrity.

"He was hyper and generous; he gave us our moment.

"We talked, but we did not really have time to sit and chat. He is caught up in Hollywood, he must retire because he is constantly assailed by people. When he arrived on set, he was always very friendly, always courteous and pleasant to work with."

Same for Michelle Mongahan (Gone Baby Gone, Mission Impossible 3), the co-star of the film. "She said hello to everyone," says Albert Kwan.

It's a translation so not precise :) But it's always nice to hear good words about Jake from co-workers.

Carla said...

I cannot imagine Jakes official driver talking to some like these are depending on discretion and he would lose his job if he starts talking about his clients.

Chris is a sexy guy but I also have a problem with those nails...

Paula said...

What the hell??

Anyway,I hope Jake is fine but I did notice that in these photos and the photos with his Mom he is covered up. Isn't it really warm in L.A.?

I'm not a soccer fan but it's getting a lot of attention now that the US has advanced , it is exciting event for a non-fan!

Love the photo of Jake and Busy Phillips at the Farmers Market, but that other photo of him there is so funny, he looks like an old man shopping with that shopping cart, what a contrast:)

The recipes at that link look simple and yummy but Chris, next time the fingenails, very distracting!

A little Pop lull has set in but you did such a great job UV with keeping up with all of it, much appreciated on my end!

I hope all this talk of Racy Annie in LAOD doesn't mean we aren't going to see an equally racy Jake!

I Think
it's bs that Jake's driver said that.

I came across this and had a laugh. It's just another example of lazy journalism. It says that Jake's next film will be Grassroots directed by his father Stephen. I have clicked on Stephen's blog a few times and he has a journal about the day-to-day filming of Grassroots in Seattle and Jake is not in the cast!:

I call BS on the driver telling the paps that Jake was not well. if they did say that, they will be out of a job soon.

I have a feeling that LAOD is going to be a surprise when it comes out in Nov. I hope it has a screening at TIFF.

USA Today on their "In Theaters This Weekend" always have small comments and the upside to POP - "Gyllenhaal cuts an impressive figure as an action hero. The production design is rich and varied."
the downside..lacks imagination.
So when there is any of that "Jake G...action hero?" like who could believe that shows the person hasn't seen the movie or thinks they are going along with some current thought that's out there..which i don't think is.

Hi, guys! I've been out of town for a few days and couldn't get near a computer. OONP, hope everything is getting back to "normal" after the terrible storm! I hate those. Messes and power outages, etc.

Delighted to see PoP is still chugging along!!!!

I don't believe for a minute that Jake had a driver take him to the doctor! The paps are nasty liars.

He might have caught a bug.
He seems to be pushing himself lately. But my honest opnion is, he's probably getting ready for a new film project and the insurance requirements, etc. as usual.

GO USA!!!!!

USA vs Ghana today, GO USA!

I do hope that Jake is preparing for his next role, the Namatth movie perhaps? I'm sure he is ok and the paps that were quoted were full of shit.

I agree that all the talk of racy Annie in LAOD is comng from men who have screened the movie, I'm sure (and hope) we get to see Jake all his glory"!

I would love for Pop to make 100 m domestically, but it will be hard with the movie losing screens.

Hope everything is getting back to normal in Bridgeport OONP,I know from past experience how scary and frustrating that can be.

POP seems to be inching its way to 90 million.
Then when he leaves most of the first run theaters it will go into the places that charge around $2.00 and I know people who mainly wait for movies to get into those theaters.
And they sometimes can stay there for quite a long time and they do make more money.
Then at the end of Sept. will be the DVD which, with the extras and such, you know is going to be a good seller (and also one people rent for years to come.).
It would be nice if a little bit down the line some magazine makes the comment about how POP really was a successful movie.

Worst poster of Brothers:

Chica said...

Oh Monica, not only is that Brothers posters horrible but it has to be one of the worst movie posters I have seen! What the hell?? They didn't even try did they?

The US soccer team should be proud, they played great. I didn't think they would get this far. I agree Monica, the American team has a great future.

Tweety said...

Damn, that Brothers poster is just scary. It looks like someone just took their photos, tossed them in the air and wherever they landed, that was going to be the poster, just bad.

That's a shame about the US soccer team, that was a heartbreaker but there is no shame in losing to Ghana.

There is one place in L.A. that i'm sure the paps don't hang out, too bad:

Man, why didn't that tweeter take a picture?! Or add some details, geez. I've been to Runyon Canyon but I didn't see Jake!

That Brothers poster is creepy. I think Jake comes off the best, but that's really not saying much. Poor Natalie - her face looks absurdly wide.

The USA tried, but as usual, it took too long for them to get into the game. Better luck next time, I guess.

And I guess Jake didn't make it to South Africa to see the US. Wonder if he'd still like to go.

How was working with Heath Ledger and how you remember?
Everyone asks me that ... and how was kiss him. He has an extraordinary talent and he is much more extraordinary as a person. Between us was born a great friendship.

Besides friends, you're the godfather of his daughter Matilda.
It's an awesome responsibility.

You see her often?
All the time that Hollywood lets me.

It is true that the kissing scenes with Heath Ledger caused doubts about your sexuality?
Only in the minds of donkeys. Brokeback Mountain is much more than a kiss between two men. Everything depends on intelligence of the viewer.

suvee said...

Yes, Leonor, you need to buy that magazine! I really like the picture of Jake they used.

Thanks for the translation, Monica! His response to BBM raising doubts about his sexuality was perfect......

Glad to hear things are returning to normal, OONP!
