Great post, FL! I love the "Day in history" connections. Not sure which is my favorite, but Jake in costume on the moon might win!

And I love all the pictures of baby Jake to go with the entries. And JakeJen dancing :)

You worked hard on this one! I get to just sail in and say "Happy Birthday, Jake!" And welcome home.

So glad Britain returned him in time for our post, er, his birthday!

Terrific birthday post, FL. You used my fave Lil!Jake pic--the one of his posing with his baseball team, wearing the birds on the bat. Sweet, sweet, Jakeypoo, where did we go wrong? Nevertheless, best birthday wishes to Teh Pretty on his day!

This is one of the funniest post ever , FL. Thank you !

Happy Birthday,Jake. Hope you enjoy this day with your loved ones.
Great to see new pictures.

Party on Dude. Happy birthday Jake. What a fabulous post. It's always great to see pictures I've never seen before. BTW, what is that on his head?

With great reluctance we have jointly decided, as a nation, to release him back into the sunshine knowing that he's taking the sunshine back with him.

Come back and see us soon Jake. You'll always have a special place in British hearts.

And a happy birthday to you Jake - and come this afternoon I shall raise a glass to you at our office do (and probably be in the same state as you were in the Ang Lee pictures :o )

Twas nice to be proved right about him returning home =D

Fab post as always, and I would pay serious money to see that toddler!Jake piece of film - singing a Bruce Springstein song IIRC - scoured the net for it, but only caps seem to exist :(

What a great post FL!! Clinton was impeached on 12/19? That's something I guess I blocked from my memory!

Happy Birthday Jake!

Born on the same day as Warren Sapp, I love it!!

Happy Birthday Jacob, hope you enjoy your day with Reese and the kids.

Happy Birthday Jake, have a good day with your loved ones. Great post as usual GB (one of the best I think).

Happy birthday Jake!

I took a peek at the rest of the pictures on IHJ, he looks jetlagged but good! Can't tell what's going on with this hair though, it looks like it's slicked back.

I guess Reese was getting impatient waiting to let her hair grow out, LOL!! I liked it better shorter, they both look a little damp and how sweet of Jake to bring Ava flowers. I did feel a bit uneasy though looking at this pics because it's obvious all 3 are not thrilled with the paps.

I hope he has a great birthday and a Happy Holiday !

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE

I love this post FL, it's like a history lesson and a birthday greeting to Jake all wrapped up in one!

Happy Birthday Jake!!! I hope you have fun today with friends and family.

Curious about his hair but I have a feeling that we will not be getting many more pap pics, they don't look amused. I bet they stay close to home in Brentwood or the Ranch, probably through the holidays.

The pics are intrusive and you can see Jake gesturing to Ava and Reese as they spot them, you noticed that Ava has dissapeared from the frame, i think he told her to go ahead to the car.

FL, this is just a delightful post! You certainly included some very historically significant markers.
As a mom, I'm especially ..."affected"...by the picture of Jake with his mother...gets me all squishy...:)and of course, automotive history means a lot to me too, so I'm particularly fond of "Jake in the car..."
Happy, Happy Birthday, Jacob!!!

Hey everyone,

Yay....Happy Birthday Jake!!!! Wishing you lots of joy and happiness!

Really glad to see he is home again with Reese...wish he would stop in NYC too. :)

What a kick ass, awesome birthday post, FL! Love the walk down GyllenLane. ;)

Have a great weekend all. We are supposed to get a big snow storm here...

Anonymous said...

Hi get real!
NYC is bracing for the first real big storm this year, co-workers are already plotting to leave early!

Yes this post is kick-ass, hope he enjoys his day with Reese and the kids.

There were SO many more historical events that happened on this day I could have done another two posts' worth. But I had to stop somewhere. :-)

For instance, this date, December 19, is a famous publishing date in literary circles. Benjamin Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanac, Thomas Paine's American Crisis essay ("These are the times that try men's souls"), and Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol were all published on his date.

And then I never even covered This Date in Musical History. Again, could be a whole separate post. Suffice to say, the number one song on the charts the week Jake was born was (Just Like) Starting Over by John Lennon. :-(

And like A_K, I would LOVE to see that clip of baby Jake belting out Born in the USA. Now here's the question, did he mimic the gruff Springsteen voice or did he sing it in more of a falsetto And I'm Telling You voice?

Anonymous said...

A Christmas Carol was published on this date too??? One of my favorites!!

I love this post FL, great research!

Wishing Jake a very Happy birthday and A Happy holiday season. Hope he, Reese the kids and family enjoy this day and many others.

Maybe he did stop to see his sister. We don't know. His sister has her own family now. Hanging out together is something they could do when they had fewer responsibilities. Maggie has built a new life and Jake is trying to build one of his own. They will probably remain close, just in a different way like other families do.

Anonymous said...

It just seems so sad. Now his parents are divorced, there will be no more family Christmas gatherings like that one when the lodge caught on fire, but his parents were together and they were all safe. Maggie is forced to follow Peter and Ramona probably won't know Jake if she even gets to see him. I hope he will try to be happy for his birthday and he at least gets to talk to his real family.

Jake is Back in LA and his hair is short again (not buzzed, but not long either) --- still has the scruff though (then again he always did).

He's been back all week.

He was at a holiday concert with Reese and her kids on Wednesday. Ava had some recital or something There are photos available.

Despite what the New York Post wrote, filming on Prince of Persia is complete. There must have been a delay of some type.

I'm sure there will be some sort of birthday celebration this weekend.

Happy Holidays.

I would love to see the full video of Jake singing Born in the USA too. The bits and pieces are not enough, what a cutie then and now!

Great post FL, glad he wasn't able to make The Mighty Ducks!

Wishing Mr. G a Happy Birthday, i'm sure Reese has something special planned for him. Love that they attended Ava's recital, he looks a bit tired but I'm glad he's back home.

The only other thing I was thinking was that maybe they're filming the green screen stuff now.

Remember how I was first told that they would be filming the green screen stuff at the end of the shoot for three weeks?

There was originally talk of finishing in late November and/or early December --- taking the rest of December off and then coming back to finish the three weeks of green screen stuff in January.

Maybe principal photography did end on December 3rd, as I was originally told, and they've been filming the green screen stuff since then.

After all, both bits of information was given to me by the same person. Maybe I just misunderstood and assumed that production would be done on December 3rd, when only principal photography would be.

I'm just trying to understand why my source would be so wrong about the dates when he was right about everything else. (He hasn't talked to me since October, sorry, so everything I know if from what he told me months ago).

In any event, I can't imagine they have much more to film, if they are even filming at all.

Happy Birthday Jake!Wishing you peace...and love...and joy... and happiness!

I wasn't going to bring it up but is that a swing jacket Reese is wearing? If not, it looks like a maternity coat. I know she has been wearing it for a few weeks but it looks a bit full in the pics on IHJ.

Happy Birthday Jake!

FL said...

I think it's just a swing jacket, anon. She has a couple of films to be shooting real soon, and unless both parts call for a pregnant girl...yeah, no.

Best. Post. Ever. FL, I just keep scrolling thru it discovering new tidbits. I've decided to add the Medieval Jake (or Conan!Jake, as I call him) and Baseball cap Jake to my favorites...(sigh.)

Brothers Spy, your info has been pretty accurate including now. And anyway, I think you have done a stellar job of keeping us up to date and feeling like we could share Jake's progress. This was a complicated, very long shoot and you got me and a lot of other folks thru it so Happy, Happy Christmas! from a very grateful Gyllenbabbler.

(Baby Jake is just adorable. Naomi and Maggie didn't stand a chance! He had them on the first note! )

Excellent post! Well done. And Happy Birthday Jake!

I like your Birthday Post, FL. I don't know if you remember me from ennisjack...

Aside from wishing Jake a Happy Birthday, I want to thank you for keeping this up -- with not just a little bit of humor/fun, I might add! :-)

This was great fun,FL, thank you.

It's neat to see everything in the world related to our guy.:)

Hi Thomas - I remember you :) Glad you enjoyed the post. FL outdid herself. Which us easy, with Jake as a subject!

BTW, what is that on his head?

Do you mean in the baby-Jake screencaps, Sheba? I don't think thats ever been satisfactorily answered!

Agent K, I'm glad you were right about where Jake would be spending his birthday, though I'm still giggling along with Lemon at how preposterous you made it seem that he'd spend it in London! Hee.

and of course, automotive history means a lot to me too, so I'm particularly fond of "Jake in the car..."

Oh, Bobbyanna, your devotion to the automobile is admirable ;)

UltraViolet said...

Not sure people know they can click on the little baby Jakes to get bigger pics. Thisone is my favorite: Jake and a sandcastle on the Vineyard. It was used in TDAT.

Soooooooooo cute.

Actually I think it has been. It's an animal nose. The kind that attaches around the back of your head with a rubber band. Not sure which type of animal. Looks like it could be a dog nose.

FL said...

Such as these animal noses for instance.

Don't have much time before I head out for drinks/dinner (and, yes, I'm having a drink to celebrate Jake's bd). But I had to tell FL how BRILLIANT I think her "Day in History" post is! This is gonna be one of my all time favorites I'm sure.

I've never seen the Baby Jake/sandcastle photo before...... so cute. Thanks, UV!

Snowed in like much of the country - maybe we should all watch a Jake movie for the birthday boy.

Which to watch? Hmm...

Thank you very much FluorescentLamp!
Your great work for Jake's birthday is a beautiful gift for all of us!

It took more then four hours, and I had to stop in between, to clear out my driveway. Ugh!
(I have an "antique" snowblower and it really didn't want to play outside today...)

I'm up for watching any Jake movie...except TDAT...

UltraViolet said...

LOL, Bobbyanna. I did see TDAT listed somewhere as a movie to watch during this big storm. But who wants to watch more snow?

Why hasn't Jake done any movies set in Hawaii or Bora Bora?

sheba said...

Hehehe, I'd love to see him now wearing the elephant nose and a santa hat! Thanks FL and UV... it's been a great day made even better by this fun and fabulous post. Does this guy know how much he's loved and respected by us? I hope he does.
