Aloha, Jake

We've had a blizzard of Jake Gyllenhaal in stormy Iceland lately. Now some tropical photos of Jake, who was the best man at his father's wedding on an Oahu beach over the weekend.

Aww.

Best wishes to the newlyweds.

Congratulations to the bride and groom, everyone looks so happy.

Jake seems very happy, but I didn't feel Maggie very happy. Must be just me.
Congratulations for the new couple.

What gorgeous pictures, the ones of Jake and his dad just show how much family means to them.

Love Maggies dress, Thanks for posting so quickly..

How romantic! The man standing next to Jake in the second picture has to be his Uncle, he looks just like his Dad.

May they be blessed and have a happy life together.

I felt a little bad posting the pics, especially the ones of Jake and Stephen embracing. But they are out there, and I know we'd all want to see them.

I hope everyone had a wonderful time.

the man with the grey hair/beard is eric gyllenhaal. the rest of his brothers are in the group of males. anders and max (closest to the camera and youngest of the gyllenhaal children).

Tweety said...

Don't feel bad about posting them UV, as you said thay are already out the there. Thanks so much for posting them, everyone looks so joyful and happy!

The two kids in front of the bride look like her, I wonder if they are her kids or maybe a niece or nephew?

UltraViolet said...

Thanks, tweety. It's always a bit of an iffy situation, but they presumably knew they would be papped.

I added more to the post. PopSugar posted a whole bunch.

I think we all are a verklempted over the Jake/Stephen pics!

I love the photo of the group giving the Hawaian hang loose hand sign!

Stephen's new wife Kathleen Man is from Hawaii according to Popsugar, so she has family there.

Everyone looks perfect, congratulations!

No worries, UV. I mean, you initially got them from the Daily Mail! They're lovely pictures and I don't think they're intrusive.

UV don't feel bad about posting the wedding shots. They are all over the net. I am glad they had a happy time and we finally find out the bride's name is Kathleen Man (well now Gyllenhaal)

I hope they have a happy life together. It's nice to see Jake's extended family. I didn't know how many uncles and other family he has

Adam Levine/Maroon 5 is playing a concert @ the Hollywood Bowl tonight. It's supposed to be a pretty big deal. Wonder if Jake will get home in time to be there.

I adore these photos, Jake and Maggie's stepmom/Stephan's new wife are lovely.

You are right Tweety, those 2 boys look like her, if they are her sons then Jake and Maggie now have stepbrothers!

Hawaii is such beautiful state, I haven't been there in ages and I would love to return foe a nice long visit.

And it sounds like Jake is back on the mainland, I hope he enjoyed the concert!

A few weeks ago, this article was posted, wondering if Jake would do another auction item for Martha's Vineyard Community Services. It unhelpfully came up again in a search I did today, making me wonder what happened/will happen to the perosn who won the Liman movie date. But i also thought these comments were cute:

I really don't know about his sexual preference, and really why should that matter for a date? Anyway, I do know he is a nice guy, who was thoughtful enough to invite my son and his girlfriend into the house for a glass of lemonade on a hot day last summer when they were cutting his lawn and trimming the landscaping. Chris and Ainsley politely declined and kept working, but it's the thought that counts. Isn't it? Or is that Christmas? ...

Even more evidence of that: I spotted him last year at the West Tisbury Farmers' Market, seated on the back of a pick-up selling veggies for Beetlebung Farm. He was joking with an elderly lady about stealing the produce, smiling and engaging everyone. Very cool, indeed.

UltraViolet said...

Also, the Toronto Film Festival announcements today and all the talk about Venice made me re-depressed about Jake's (lack of) future films. Looking at Ryan Gosling's imdb page didn't help matters.

Office of Nancy Pelosi said...

That is one adorable little girl with Jake, thanks for posting it UV!

I forgot about that MV auction a few years back. He never did UMP, did the winner get to visit him on the set of SC or LAOD?

What a great story about Jake inviting those kids in for lemonade. The story makes it sound like it was his place, I know that his parents sold their place on MV after the divorce but i wonder if Jake bought his own place.

bobbyanna said...

What a beautiful little girl!!! Thanks for posting that picture, UV, and thanks for the MV stories. I love hearing stories about Jake's "down time," and the sweet things people say about him.

I hope who ever it was had their date with Jake, UMP movie or not. : )

Anonymous said...

Why would anyone bring up "sexual preference" even if it does have very nice comments about Jake.
Maybe they're stuck back there somewhere in 2007 or something.

Anonymous said...

It was in response to another comment.

Anonymous said...

They were commenting on the first person to comment on post, a sockpuppet named "Jane Jones" that pops up on as many Jake threads she can find and posts the same thing about Jake, doesn't matter what the post is about, she has her marching orders.

She even made up a fake FB page. Why you ask? Well I don't think she even knows, maybe she thinks it's funny or she dislikes when a blogger posts anything nice about Jake or mentions Jake near a female.

It really is a nice story about Jake , I should say stories.

Source Code has a new release date in Brazil: September 30.

To make matters worse, Batman TDKR will debut one week after the American release.
I'm feeling down.

UV, I felt the same when I read about Venice and Toronto.
Ryan Gosling won many points when he said no to Jerry Bruckheimer. I'm anxious to see Crazy, Stupid, Love.

aww sweet history. thanks.

darn my SC dvd came today in the mail and when i went to watch it it kept stopping then bad disc came up so i guess ill have to go buy another copy tomorrow

UltraViolet said...

Oh, Monica! They are torturing you. I can't believe you have to wait two more months. Will you wait or watch it on DVD?

And Mary, what a pain. I'm sorry you couldn't watch it right away. I haven't gotten my copy yet. Will have to check Amazon.

UltraViolet said...

Yes, that comment troll struck again on the MV story. The best part is that s/he was basically ignored.

I loved both stories, especially the image of Jake selling Chris's produce from the back of a pick-up.

I've never been to Hawaii, but someday...

My first visit to TIFF was 2005, and I saw BBM, Capote, and a few other films. I never saw any of the cast. In 2007, I was there for Rendition, went to the gala screening, met Jake (for two whole seconds). It was a great experience. That was my last time @ TIFF.

When they announced this year's films,I felt bad, especially reading The Ides of March would be there.

I know Jake has some really exciting work ahead of him, and I know he's going to do well. I just wish more projects were happening right now!

I don't mind Ryan Gosling as much as I do some of the other casting decisions. Some of the people they cast and some of the projects that get $$$ just mystify me.

UV, if I ever go back to Hawaii, I would have to do it in two stages, I could never do an 11 hour flight all at once. It's really unpleasant. (stinky.)

Monica said...

I don't know, I don't know. I want to see this film in a movie theather. But I guess I'll see before.
I think this new date is to avoid blockbusters, because September is a weak period for films in Brazil. I think it will be very good for the box office.

Oh, yes, he worked with Chris. I liked that part.
I miss Chris.

Love these beautiful pics...what a pretty little girl. TY again UV. I have to wait until next week to purchase SC *sad face* I can't wait but I must.
Went to IMDB for the first time in 3-4 years, I think, and almost felt like having a small class for the posters: topic, who is an an "A" list actor vs who is the Hollywood star and what does it mean to be both an A list actor and a star who can fill the seats.i.e., Will Smith. Then I realized I'd had this conversation many times over these last few years...just that I get my nose out of joint when posters judge a great actor(Jake) by whether he or she can open a movie...sorry for the rambling...*kisses*
Bradley Cooper slogged so many years in Hollyweird but is working so much since The Hangover1&2. Oh well. I just would love more Jake movies. glad you're still here...
xoxoxoxo
Guess what, I was shocked today when I opened my IV Remicade bill... $12,000.
Holy Macaroni.
over and out!!

bobbyanna said...

monica, I really hate them changing the date so much for you. You will enjoy it either way. I'm just looking forward to your reaction. It's really a good movie, and Jake should be recognized because he was outstanding. I hope Summit realizes that.

bobbyanna said...

(((sass))) dang! that's a hefty bill! But if it helps you, that's all that matters. I hope you try some Vitamin D!

Chica said...

That is one cute little girl:D

Damn, I can't believe that you have to wait until September to see SC on the big screen Monica:(

It's an incredible film with one of Jake's best performances. I haven't rec'd my DVD yet, it's on order form Amazon.

Sorry to hear that your DVD doesn't work Mary, I hope that you can get a replacement.

Love the story about Jake selling veggies for Chris!

It's frustrating when you hear actors who are les talented then Jake IMO getting all these roles, one of the few actors that deserves the attention is Gosling, I always liked him.

(((Sass))).

Anonymous said...

There is no doubt Jake sees scripts and because you get a lot of scripts doesn't mean you do any of them. He has always said he goes with his heart and i'm sure every once and a while, among those scripts, he does find something he likes. Those are the ones you will see him making.
Sometimes actors take roles, to take roles.
He has talked about musicals and he has talked about other movies he would like to make but getting them written and ready to go sometimes takes a while and now and then they don't make it. That does happen to every actor.

yea chica i plan on getting replacement dvd today

Monica said...

Sure he gets scripts. This occurs with all actors.
We don't know what kinds of scripts are going for him. I believe that the great are not going for him, this must be hard for Jake to find a good script.
What we are saying is that it's frustrating to see Jake having only End of Watch on the list of their upcoming movies.

Of course we miss seeing him in a great film festival, as happened with Brokeback and Zodiac.
Spend months talking about a movie is very good.

Extra said...

The last time Jake ws at Cannes was for Zodiac and later that year he was at the Rome festival for Rendition. I miss seeing him at festivals like that.

I know Jake said that he with his heart when choosing scripts but in the case of the UMP, where he seemed to be heavily involved in he must have been disappointing when that didn't work out.

UltraViolet said...

It's myopic not to see that Jake isn't getting first crack at the top scripts. I wish it weren't true, but if you take a look at the IMDb pages for other actors, they are loaded.

Perhaps Jake is turning things down left and right, but I doubt that. I hope SC will persuade more directors to give him good roles, and that he can do edgy roles, high-profile roles and in between.

Hugs to Sass - hope the new post makes you smile.
