Maybe Jake needs a pap double!

A recent blog entry mentioned that 007's stuntman is currently doubling for Jake Gyllenhaal on Prince of Persia. Someday, we'll have behind-the-scenes footage of Jake doing all the PoP stunt training. That will be fun!

The stuntman, Ben Cooke, mentions that there were three or four doubles for Daniel Craig on Quantum of Solace. So Jake should have at least that many. One of them can go for coffee, one can go jogging, one can bike ride through London. Disguised just enough so we can't tell it's not really Jake. I mean, if he's not going to show his pretty face, he can at least try to fool us out of the doldrums!

Speaking of that face, IHJ posted some new old photos of Jake in Venice, 2005. I love Jake. I love Venice. I love Jake-in-Venice.

Oh, look - Reese was there, too!

Hi, Jake! Come back soon!

And just because...

Where's Reese. I don't see her.

It was a joke, since people always assume any blonde near Jake is Reese.

Love the new/old pictures of Jake in Venice!!

Remember that blonde PA that Jake had that people got mixed up with Reese? I think people thought that was the PA in that X17 video last April but I think since then it was discovered that it was indeed Reese, I think!

It looks like the Bond stuntman is working around the lovely Gemma again! Thanks for the link to the video. I'm glad IHJ are posting this pictures, they will have to do until new Jake pictures turn up.

Yes, extra, the infamous video outside Jake's house. Also, last year in Toronto, Jake was papped at a restaurant, getting into an SUV that Reese was in. His agent, the blonde in the Venice photos, was also there. And people tried to say it was the agent and not Reese.

So sad!

Maybe one of Jake's doubles can sneak around with Jake's agent, so we'll get "Jake and Reese" pics!

I hadn't thought of the Gemma connection, josie! Hollywood really is a small town. (I know this is London, but you know what I mean.)

And yes, the new old pics are a bit of relief from the drought. Stephanie posted a very cool cover shot of Jake yesterday, as well. Good stuff.

I LOVE Venice!!! I was there in 2001, during the film festival, but alas! We couldn't get near anything very fun! We did see Bono and The Edge wandering around.

The festival itself takes place on the Lido, and is not as accessible as other film festivals. We hadn't realized it was going on! But I do love Venice! My daughter was exasperated with me (Yes, again!) because I kept saying things like, "Oh, look! It's Michael Caine!" And all these tourists would get excited and turn around. I developed a crush on a bald violinist who played at night in the Piazza San Marco...sigh...

Those pictures of Jake on the water were always favorites of mine, the color of the water and his shirt were perfect, as he was.

Never been to Venice, but it looks great! Even better if Jake were at your side of course- I'm sure he and Reese will go someday. :)

You are so lucky you got to go to Venice bobbyanna, I would love to go someday, it's sounds incredible!

I love these set of pictures of Jake too lawgodess, beautiful.

So that's Jake's stunt double, I bet he is as busy as Jake with all the stunts that will be in this movie, thanks for posting the video!

Well, the helicopters rescuing the Royal family froze instantly and crashed, and Jake and Emmy barely out ran that tidal wave, but they've made it to the public library! So I'll check back here later...after Emmy helps Jake warm up when he gets a chill and has to take off his wet clothes...;)

I've never been to Venice, but have always wanted to go. One of my all time favorite movies, Don't Look Now, was set there..... and the city truly became almost another character in that movie.

Not to be too gloomy, but I've decided to resign myself to more weeks of no Jake news or pics....... that way, I won't be disappointed when I do my daily Jake check on the internet, and there's nada. However, I am a firm believer in the karmic truth of balancing the scales. Which means this drought will be followed (eventually) by its opposite.... a bounty of Jake! :)

My guess is POP will film until kate October, November?
I am very curious to know how long Jake will be filming this movie

Seems like he is halfway done, since he filmed all summer

Anonymous said...

I meant to say, maybe late October
Maybe two or three more months?

Then again, Jakes part will be done and they can do the computer animation and effects work

Yes, I'm watching TDAT! I admit it. This is what it's come down to. The act of a desperate woman. OK, then.

UltraViolet said...

LOL, Bobbyanna. I was a little confused with that royal helicopter reference. But when you mentioned the library, I figured it out :)

Was TDAT on TV tonight or did you pull out your DVD?

And LOL further at your Venice experience. Your daughters are long-suffering, aren't they?

Sigh - I adore Venice. I could have posted a dozen more flickr pics. Maybe Jake and Reese will go there, so I can Venice-up the place.

Suvee, I am with you. Expecting the worst. That way, if we're surprised, it's even better.

Doing the rounds has become distressingly predictable and predictably fruitless.

Well, it's not like there's an economic crisis or a big election to think about.

Actually, UV, I had a choice between On Demand with Donnie Darko, and TDAT on the FX station. Since I'm a news junkie and a political junkie, I decided on TDAT, so I could surf around during commercials.

I'm certain we'll get pictures very soon. I can feel it. We will!
I cannot watch that movie anymore... At least not for another year.

UltraViolet said...

My cable system is offering Donnie Darko in HD On Demand. I hope to watch it this weekend. I wonder how the rabbit will look in high def!

Thank you UV (and Stephanie of course) for the new/old pics. Jake and Venice look lovely, I will get to see Venice one day, doubt I will ever get to see Jake though.

I watched Rendition again last night (On DVD) and i'll probably visit my Jake movie collection this weekend. Thanks UV and IHJ for posting the new/old Venice pictures!!

Yeah, I have a feeling we will be waiting a bit longer for any Jake pics, sigh.

Oh well it's always politics, the economy and my Mets to focus on until then!

Anonymous said...

Politics, the econmy or new Jake pics, I'll take the latter!!

Love these pictures, it put a smile on my face this morning and I sure needed it.

Did you here the latest on the latest Bond movie with Daniel Craig: He will NOT say, shaken not stirred and, Bond James, Bond. The director said he wanted to keep the series "fresh" Fresh?? Those are classic lines, idiots!

Thankfully my home internet issues have been solved, did hope I'd be returning to some fresh Jake, but alas :(

As much as I like Depp, I cringe at the thought of POTC 4!! The Lone Ranger? Anyway this is about Disney anouncing upcoming projects but I thought it odd that Prince of Persia isn's mentioned in the article:

Disney, Depp return to 'Caribbean'
Actor also signs on for 'Ranger,' 'Wonderland'
By MARC GRASER

Johnny Depp is the main man at the Mouse House.
Depp has agreed to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" pic and play Tonto in a bigscreen adaptation of "The Lone Ranger," both produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. He will also star as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s version of "Alice in Wonderland."

I don't know, some of these upcoming projects sound good, especially a Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland.

I hope they reconsider about not including the classic Bond lines, those are some (but not all, of course ;) ) of the reasons we love James. And, I hope we get pics soon of the one who leaves us shaken and stirred. ;)

EW has a more detailed report on the Disney showcase at the Kodak theater:

We got an early look at Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which featured a ripped Jake Gyllenhaal as the lead. It seems the movie will stick fairly close to the plot of the video games, and time travel will play a significant role.

http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2008/09/disney-showcase.html

It sounds like they showed some actual footage!!

Yes, I can see Depp as the Mad Hatter in Alice, but I think it's time to put the POTC to rest IMO.

if Johnny will star in 3 more films for Disney.

Maybe Jake too will get more Disney roles in future films.
Disney might want to keep Jake around

UltraViolet said...

Thanks, sag actor! I hope we hear a little more about that. Can we comment on that thread and prod for a little more info?

Anonymous said...

Can we?? Yay! I want to hear more about PoP, if possible, and as much as possible! :)

Anonymous said...

Yes you can comment on that thread but I doubt that Jerry or any Disney suits are reading them!

I'm dying to see the footage , I hope that someone that was there blogs about it, maybe we can get some info that way, Disney is sure keeping a tight lid on this!

UltraViolet said...

LOL - I didn't think Jerry Bruckheimer would answer! I just wondered if the PopWatch blogger on EW would cough up more details. I read that blog sometimes but never the comments, so I just wondered if there's interaction.

Looks like someone sent a report to Ain't It Cool:

A great SURROGATES trailer & a montage to music of PRINCE OF PERSIA recent dailies wowed the audience, but no appearance by Bruce Willis or Jake Gylenhal....

It was a montage, basically, with narration of what the film was about cut together w/ interviews w/ Bruckheimer, Jake and a couple other cast members.

It showed him running around, fighting, doing some jumps, showed some very rough animatics and storyboarded together shots, some details about the villains trying to get the Dagger. A cool villain with a purple cloak whose arms turned to snakes and he thrust them into the ground. They went after somoene looking like TREMORS. Jake looked good with his painted 300 abs I'm sure. Looks promising though thus far.

Anonymous said...

Nnyone have any idea what "painted 300 abs" means?

agent_krycek said...

I think the 300 abs remark is probably to do with the film '300' where I think some computer generated trickery was used to enhance the bodies of some of the characters - could be completely wrong, but that's what I took it to mean. (Not that Jake needs any CGI to enhance perfection)

Thanks for the find UV!
AICN, should have known that would be one of the 1st places it would be posted.

agent_krycek said...

Surely this isn't Jake, looks more like Orlando Bloom then Jake

Anonymous said...

Oh man, that doesn't even look like Orlando!

I'm afraid agent k that we will be seeing stuff lke this up ntil Pop is released.

A fun find though, thanks and thanks to everyone for all the Pop links and updates!

Love all the old/new Jake pics!

It's neither. They used a "surrogate" to just give a flavor of the look and feel of the movie. This is going to be huge. They are rolling out a big new franchise with PoP.

Depending on how well it does, Jake is already committed to two more. They are hoping he is their new Johnny Depp. Orlando didn't test well. He was considered, but they moved on to Jake. Orlando announced he was not interested.
