Seal-fighting ski bum/chef/choreographer

Update: Jake attended the opening night of "Three Sisters," starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, among others.

Those are Jake's dream jobs. At least, that's what he told Vanity Fair:

Back in reelity, Jake plays a soldier in Source Code. Empire has a new spread on the film, with some cool new images:

Just an L&OD still that I love:

Boyfriend just spotted Jake Gyllenhaal on 26th & Madison with "two pretty ladies." Color me jealous!"

It's annoying that the VF interviewer still thinks of Jake as Donnie Darko. No wonder she doesn't know how his name is pronounced!

It was a fun interview, though. Just wish he had something else besides Source Code in answer to what he has coming up!

Monica said...

The video does not work in Brazil. But thanks for the information.

UltraViolet said...

How annoying, Monica! If I have a chance later, I'll try to upload it to youtube.

Here's a very very spoilery fan video for L&OD. But it has a lot of dialogue form the movie. It was fun to watch and revisit.

bobbyanna said...

Balanchine? Really, Jake?

I wondered if he was giving out clues about roles he's considering, Navy Seal, ski bum, etc. then he said, "Balanchine!"

Monica said...

You could describe what he said?

Josie said...

I love the concept of the VF cover, Jake looks so handsome! Anne looks gorgeous in that gown and James and Ryan ain't bad either!

I don't get that interviewer not knowing how to pronounce Gyllenhaal, he has been around long enough.

Hey, maybe Jake is giving hints on his next project Bobbyanna!

The SC stills looks really cool, and I love that still from LAOD. It's has made over 80 million WW so far!

Monica said...

I forgot to say that I have an interview of Jake Gyllenhaal for a Brazilian magazine.
Among some things, he says his first thought after reading the script for laod was that he wanted to have a strong connection with whom he would work, as he had with Heath Ledger in Brokeback. So, Anne was a perfect choice.

bobbyanna said...

Thanks, monica.

In the Vanity Fair article, the lady started with Donnie Darko, and just kept asking about it. Jake was flirty with her in a very transparent way, with flattery. He also gently told her DD was ten years ago! Then she asked what else he might want to be, and she asked about what's next and he said Source Code.it was only about three minutes but it was Jake so it was fun.;)

Tweety said...

For some reason I can't get the video to work:(

I swear that Ballenchine came up during one of Jake and Anne's press junket for LAOD, or am I imaging it?

Could be Black swan related, he had to have seen it and don't forget him attending a benefit performance for the NY Ballet a few moths back!

Navy seal, Ski bum, chef. choreographer, well we know that being a Chef would be a dream job for him:)

I love this tweet:

So, maybe it was a technical problem.

The film credit line was Getty, but Getty didn't have them either last I checked. Jake looked good, had a grey top coat on,looked like a white shirt under it. As I said, Carrie Mulligan was also there.

They should repost. It was a nice little write up.

I would love to get chance to see The Three Sisters, the tickets probably aren't expensive.

I'm glad Jake dressed up, If I remember from last year whrn he went to the Uncle Vanya opening he dressed very casual.

I enjoyed that interview, I hope that he does have something coming up after SC!

Chica said...

He doesn't look too pleased in the last 2 pics:((

I checked out JJ and the pics are up but he says the play also stars Anton Chekov! I don't have time at this moment to e-mail him to let him know that Mr. Chekov wrote the play and has been dead for decades!

I really don't want to get too excited about SC, but with these new stills I can't help it, I love SC-Fi films and I hope that this does well.

Thanks Monica! I remember the mini series , I didn't know they were doing a re-make, I can se Jake in that role.

Monica said...

Ha, ha, I took a quick peep and he deleted the Chekov comment. I guess someone told him, check out the comments.

The New York Times liked Maggie and they liked the play!Playbill wrote a nice article about opening night. Nice turnout: Olympia Dukakis, Diane Weist, Mamie Gummer,
(Meryl Streep's daughter) among others.

UltraViolet said...

I'm still chuckling over someone thinking that Anton Chekhov was starring in the play. Wish we got dome fun after party photos like last year. Though Jake looks better foe Three Sisters than he did for Uncle Vanya.

A couple of Jake sightings this afternoon, placing him in SoHo and Chelsea Market.

Office of Nancy Pelosi said...

Ski Patrol!! What a fun interview even though the interviewer was a bit annoying.

Glad he was at Maggie and Peter's play last night but yeah, where are the after party pics like we got last year?

Too bad JJ corrected his boo-boo, LOL!

He should be doing stuff for SC soon and hopefully we will he about a new project before then.

He does look tired. Three sisters is a bit of a downer like the rest of Chekov's plays IMO, I think his mood may reflect his response to the play!

Glad to see Maggie and Peter getting good reviews. This is the 3rd Chekov play for Peter and the 2nd for Maggie.

Like the SC pics too, I can't wait until PR starts up for it.

Tweety said...

Thanks Bobbyanna and Monica! I wasn't sure when she was leaving for her tour but City house is in Nashville so he is there but apparently to see Mumford and sons with Carey.

I saw the tweets trying to make something out of Jake and Carey at the Three Sisters opening. She and Jake know each other from Brothers and she knows Peter from An Education but to fly together to Nashville to see a concert? Hmmm..

bobbyanna said...

Is there a concert with Mumford & Sons in Nashville? I know they're nominated for a Grammy a week from tomorrow. Carey and the Mumford guys are all from the UK. If this is really happening.

After all the lies, and the spamming from a few months ago, I am suspicious of these PR types who "see" things.

I hope we get pictures or something, or more verifications. I'm just not sure about this yet. It's probably true, but I'm not sure.

So Jake is in Nashville at a M&S concert!? Cool. I don't know if he went with carey, because i saw photos from a few days ago of her holding hands with her new boyfriend.

bobbyanna said...

Well, Carey is in Nashville with him, Lola, so they're apparently friends. I saw the pics of her walking with Eddie Redmayne the other day, but I've also seen her Andrew Garfield who has a GF, and with other people, so I'm not sure what her status is.

Near as I can piece it together, there were about 250 people at the house party, in a really "scarey" basement, off Granny Smith which is both a park, and a street, and the people seemed like music industry types.

One girl described herself as working for a record label designing album covers. There were photographers, musicians, people who described themselves as producers, directors "working in film," etc. Not bigshots,or famous, but more kind of artsy music scene types.

Hope maybe we can discover more info.

UltraViolet said...

sounds like jake had a good time good for him didnt know jake could play the guitar.

We use a Natalie quote on the homepage of the this blog under Jake's picture where she says:

Jake is the kind of guy who can do a spot-on impression of someone you work with. He plays guitar and has a great voice. Kids and dogs love him. He loves his mom and sister and girlfriend. He's perfect. Too bad he's ugly.

So Natalie knew about this talent. And now several more in Green Hills know, too! :-)

Paula said...

I love all the tweets, Jake playing the guitar, swoon!!

I remember several years ago when Jake, Heath, Anne and Michelle were doing the Oprah show for BBM, someone said that they saw Jake with a guitar strapped to his back entering the hotel they were staying at for the show's taping .

A few months later there was a thread on his IMDB page about that girl he was supposed to be dating (the story was false) I think her name was Gretchen and she was a skier, anyway the thread mentioned that she invited him to her b'day and he played the guitar.

Also Jake mentioned that his Dad played the guitar and then of course the Natalie quote.

He also plays the piano, drums and the harmonica!

Thanks for posting the SC pics, can't wait until April 1st and for this Tuesday do I can get my hands on VF!

It's a shame no one got a good shot of that or of Jake at all, really.

I'll let you all know when the checks from all those online sites come in, paying us for all the work you all did putting the story together :)

It's funny to see sites reporting based on tweets they probably don't even find themselves, and without doing a lick of additional "reporting."

Seems like Jake might still be in Nashville. Someone tweeted about seeing him at Fido, a coffee place.

Fido! Sitting at the table behind me. He's obviously following me... ;)

Jake Gyllenhall really needs to stop following me. And no US Weekly, I won't "give you my story" so don't ask me again. It's creepy.

Oh, Us. Always doing the hard investigative reporting.

And another person retweeted a sighting today but without details.

Tweety said...

More lazy "reporting" by the entertainment journalists, they must love twitter, makes their alleged jobs more easier than ever!

Not to worry, Us will fill in the gaps!

I am getting a kick out of the Jake and Aaron Rogers tweets. I wonder if Jake has some interest in recording?

bobbyanna said...

UV, tweety, I wonder how many of them even follow twitter, unless someone points it out to them! That takes time and imagination. Thanks to tweety, we were on it long before they were.;)

Maybe Us, etc. got a "heads up" from a local PR type, then used local write ups out of Nashville. They'd use local freelancers as their sources, then "fill in the gaps" as UV says. There were definitely some publicist/PR types tweeting from N'ville Saturday nite, trolling for info.:)

Either way, Us Weekly'd write the "color copy" off the bones of a story someone else develops. Us Weekly doesn't care about accuracy.

Or "Metromix" could've just put it on the PR wire, to re-sell a story that gets embellished as it makes it's way around the gossip sites and magazines.

I do love twitter!;)

Sloooow news days :)

Jake is back in NYC, according to one tweet. Here's a fun account of Saturday night's action.

Tweety said...

I saw the NY tweet too!

Thanks for posting that link, that was fun to read!

Sounds like M&S is in Nashville to work on their new album. It would explain why Jake stayed around for an extra day lke he did last month when he was spotted with Taylor. Some wondered why since Taylor had left, but a M&S band member was there then, sounds like since Dec?

Would explain the Maggie and Peter sighting then since I think they are fans as well (I think there were tweets of them ar one of their concerts in L.A.) and maybe they were getting some insight n that Monroe Bio they are working on.

And speaking of that, wouldn't it be cool if Jake is somehow involved in that as well??

Sounds like he really like Nashville.

Anonymous said...

The bloggers report from the basement fun said Jake said he was thinking of moving to Nashville, but he said he thought he was joking. I guess time will tell if he plans to move. I thought he liked it out in LA (sans the paps) and likes NY too, Nashville would be closer to his sister and her family

Tweety said...

True, but I can see him moving to NY/Brooklyn, the paps leave him alone there. Not only does Maggie, Peter, Ramona, his Mom live there but Aunts, Uncles, cousins as well.

Can you imagine the tabloid crap if he moved to Nashville where Taylor lives and Reese's family still lives and she supposedly has a place there?

Yeah we all know that both relationships are in the past but that hasn't stopped the rags.

I remember the buzz about him moving to MV a few years ago, now that is a place that is pap free!

Mixed twitter reaction to a Source Code screening tonight in LA. From Fade In Magazine, apparently Amerca's best movie mag, though I'd never heard of it until tonight:

2011 could be a great year for movies. Just saw "Source Code." Terrific film. Gyllenhaal best yet. Screams franchise. Opens April 1.

And this from an entertainment reporter named Ellen Fox, whom I'd also never heard of until yesterday:

I do love me some Vera Farmiga though. She's deep. Too bad she's an awkward interview. Or maybe she just hates my guts. Or I'm paranoid.

Pssible news on Born To Run:

I really enjoyed Chris McDougall's presentation at the BuildON event last night. He is such a great story teller, and always leaves me motivated and in high spirits. I was very excited to hear that he had met with Peter Sarsgaard yesterday and is in talks with him and Jake Gyllenhall to make Born to Run a movie. I couldn't be more excited - what a great way to motivate more people to be in shape and embrace the Tarahumara way!

Shondra said...

Thanks for the twitter review of the SC screening UV, I never heard of that magazine either.

Good review but I cringed when I read the franchise bit only because I don't want to get my hopes up.

I don't know what to make of the Sonny and Cher comment, i'm afraid to think too deep about that!

I remember reading last year that Peter was interested in bringing the McDougall story to the screen, I can see Peter playing him. Perhaps Jake will play a supporting role or maybe he will be involved as a producer?

It's an interesting story but like the Armstrong Bio, I see this as a made for TV project.

I hope that Jake is added as a presenter at the last minute for the Oscars!

Anonymous said...

The "Sonny and Cher" and Groundhog Day comments are from someone who thinks that being sarcastic and so above it all is a sign of a good writer.
I don't pay much attention to that type of review...etc.
They seemeed bored with their job and above it all..and i think already had planned to not like anything to do with it.

bobbyanna said...

I agree. I can definitely see Peter in the "Born to Run" role.

I was hoping Jake might present at BAFTA, but the awards are being done this Sunday in London. I hope he gets to participate in the Oscars.

Born to run does sound intersting. I think that Peter and Maggie are starting a production Co. This would be a good project and also have Jake involved as a family project.

I would love for SC to become a franchise, sort of like the Bourne franchise for Damon.

I never even considered the idea of a franchise for SC. Have to see the movie, of course, and I'm not getting my hopes up. I don't know if this is a character I want to see over and over. Not big on the whole sci fi thing. I just want the movie to be a hit. Oh, and good.

I think the Sonny and Cher reference is from a song recurring in Groundhog Day. I don't remember much about the movie - had to look that up.

It was definitely unprofessional for the woman not to be on time. But I don't know that she went in expecting not to like it.

Hopefully her reaction won't be the norm.

There was a tweet from someone that isn't exactly negative:

No, I did not try out for Jeopardy this evening. I was too busy watching Jake Gyllenhaal look confused and blow up a lot.

He was tsked by someone else, who referred to the embargo on reviews. I guess that's why we haven't heard much of anything really. Trying not to read into that.

I saw that Extra, I hope they had a great time. Unfortunately it was an opportunity for some blogs to ship Jake and Jen, they seem to do this every few years, zzzzz.

OT: TCM today is featuring movies that came out in 1939. Wizard of Oz is on now. Earlier they showed Dark Victory,Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Ninotchka, Of Mice and Men and Wuthering Heights, I'm a very happy camper!

Chica, TCM has some of the best movies!:) I just can't do Wizard of Oz. It was my daughter Lisa's favorite movie, and I've probably seen it sixteen zillion times. Watching Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest right now.

You're right about Jen & Jake,too.

Thanks for the link, Extra. At least justjared tried to be accurate without all the b.s. that turns up on twitter.:)

Gossip Cop's running a "correction" to what's been all over twitter:

FB had a sighting earlier of Jake at Franny's with Maggie and Ramona.

Watching the Grammys, I was so impressed with Adam Levine's piano playing. He accompanied Rihanna on "Love the Way You Lie."

Thanks for that sighting, Bobbyanna! I missed that one.

I put up a Valentine's Day post :)
