Running man

Looks like Jake Gyllenhaal did run the Chilmark Road Race. He didn't make it to the front of the starting line, as he did a couple of years ago. But it's good to know Beard Man's spot is secure.

Jake and director Doug Liman, courtesy of boston.com:

2007:

2009:

That could be Jake at the left between 150 and 1034, with his head bent. That would also mean that Jake is wearing some unfortunate socks.

Jake was a bit off his 2007 pace, but he didn't have the prime starting spot, either.

Let's look at Jake's running form over the years.

26th in his field of 115...not bad, not bad at all. :)

I really hope those shorts, socks and legs belong to someone else in the pack and not Jake. Because, yeah, really unfortunate if so. O_O

Jake was a bit off his 2007 pace

Given his promise to get "fat and happy" post PoP, his time was bound to suffer a little. :)

And those socks surely are not his!

Saw this quickie:

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer gave us a quick update on his slate of upcoming movies as we and a group of other reporters chased him down a hallway following his press conference promoting ABC’s The Forgotten at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour in Pasadena, Calif., on Sunday:

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time: The film based on Ubisoft’s video game, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, is heavy into editing. Bruckheimer said post-production is going well and he should have a trailer ready soon. “I hope in the Fall,” he said. “Fall or Christmas.”

Best make it the fall, Jerry. Please????

We need a real picture to know whether those are indeed Jake's socks. People are finally starting to tweet about Jake running the race. Maybe some photos will follow.

Oh oh, but pulling up the rear...

In 24th place in the 1-8 year old division:

Deacon Phillipe
Age 5
NY
Time: 44:11.6
Pace: 14:14

Immediately followed by, in 25th place for the 60-69 year old division:

Naomi Foner
Age 62
NY
Time: 44:12.2
Pace: 14:14

How cute is that? Naomi and Deacon ran the race together and she let him cross the finish line ahead of her. Awwwwwwww.

UltraViolet said...

That is adorable! I saw Reese's name on the list of entrants but then not in the race results. Didn't occur to me to look for Naomi or Deacon!

So sweet.

Unknown said...

I can't tell how long the race is?

Very sweet about Deacon and Naomi.

Aww is the right word.

LOL about the socks.

I've never gotten over him wearing socks with flip-flops a few years ago.

UltraViolet said...

LG, do you mean the course distance? It's a 5k race. Jake ran it in 20 minutes, 43 seconds.

verdeblusm said...

Acc...I run 5k in 37(sometimes a bit more)...
I'm too slow but also older than Jake...
Happy vacations to all GyllenBabblers!

Coming in 26th is not bad at all!!Yeah the socks are pretty bad,I sure the hell hope that's not him!

How cute that Naomi and Deacon ran together!

Qnd please let there be a Pop trailer for the fall Jerry, pretty please!!

josie said...

Ava is listed too!!! Not bad Jake, I hope someone took pics, fingers crossed!

Thanks for all the great detective work. This is so cool. Yay, Deacon! It takes me nearly 20 minutes to WALK a mile, so obviously that's not a good standard to measure anyone else.:)

Good morning,babblers!

Jake did a good race.
About socks ... you need to see the socks used by Chris last year, UV!

Best make it the fall, Jerry. Please???? [2]

The news about Naomi and Deacon is adorable. Thanks, FL!

Love hearing about Jake in MV doing the road race! :D And awww to Naomi and Deacon and Ava running the race too. Chris was not listed among the racers though. I hope he and Jake still get to spend time together.

Glad Jake and Reese are in MV. Hope they are there when the Obamas are. :)

Cool Philly pic/sightings too!

UV, I hope Jerry gets the trailer by fall too.

Have a good Sunday everyone. :)

Reese may have been contractually prohibited from participating. She lost some time when she bruised her cheek praticing softball, and might not have wanted to risk another mishap.

I also think it is lovely that Deacon and Naomi ran together. I hadn't seen Ava's name listed, but I will look again.

Cheers. This blog is fun.

Here's Ava's results:

I think you are right about Reese, I hope they are all enjoying MV!

suvee said...

FL and Josie, thanks for discovering that Ava, Deacon and Naomi also participated..... that just put a big smile on my face! And I love that Naomi let Deacon finish ahead of her.

Bobbyanna, it takes me 25-30 minutes to walk about 1.3 miles. But I tell myself that it's my 12 year old dog that's really slowing me down! :)

Thanks for the PoP trailer tidbit, UV. I bet it will be ready for the holiday movie season, sometime in November at the latest.

Not a bad result at all, would love to see pictures of Jake, Reese Mom and the kids at the race! Didn't look like Chris ran this year.

Hope we get to see the Pop trailer real soon!

extra said...

Need a better picture to determine if that is Jake or not, he made a good showing ! How cool that his Mom, Reese and the kids participated in the race, well not Reese for the reasons mentioned already.

UltraViolet said...

Maybe his head is down because he's looking for his sneaker?

kjpilot: Ran into Jake Gyllenhal literally at Chilmark Road Race. He lost his shoe!!

UltraViolet said...

Though it seems that twitterer just got to MV today. Either her tweets are out of date (I hate it when that happens!) or Jake was revisiting the scene of the crime!

sheba baby said...

Awesome that Jake ran again this year, he missed the race last year due to Pop. Love that his Mom and Reese kid's also ran. Never been to MV but from what I hear and read it's a beautiful place to vacation.

That tweeter about Jake losing his sneaker is too funny!

tweety said...

Ha, ha I love twitter! Jake did pretty good and I think that it's great Naomi and her kids joined as well, I hope some of these tweeters took pictures.

Love all the Jake running pics posted. Hopefully there will be some news about a Pop trailer next month at the Disney expo.

I don't want to paste any of the race photos onto the main blog post since Jack McCoy Photography is rather adamant that these photos are for personal use only and not to be reproduced.

However, I will provide links. :)

Thanks for finding the photos FL, I love Jake's expression!!!

Deacon is such a cutie and Ava is getting really tall, love Mom too! No way Reese would have run that race and be back on set the next morning, the fact that she was there to support him, his mom and have her kids run as well speaks volumns.

I think this sighting is from last week when they were in Whole foods:

Apparently, Jake Gyllenhaal and gal pal Reese Witherspoon have been hanging in my hood and needed some milk. By all accounts they were quite nice and posed for photos. The checkout guys will have something to talk about for months - maybe even years.

FL, you are amazing! Don't know what you do for a living, but you clearly have a real talent for investigative research. Thanks so much for finding these photos.

That picture of Jake is a hoot! It's so nice to see him in an unguarded moment of joy. And as cute as Deacon is, my favorite pic is the one of Ava. She looks so happy. I'm impressed that she apparently ran the race by herself (I'm assuming Naomi stayed close to Deacon)...... when I was 9, there's no way I could have done that.

It's so cool that they all were able to share this fun experience!

Monica said...

Ava is so proud of himself.

bobbyanna said...

Squeeee!!! FL, have I told you lately that I love you??? These are just great!

Deacon is my heart. He and Ava both look so proud and ..joyful. You can see that it was a blast for them.

Naomi makes me feel like a real slug... She runs 5 kilometers with a kid who can probably outrun most adults, and she has this great smile on her face. I'd be purple and wheezing! LOL!

Naomi hanging out with Reese's kids speaks volumes alright.:) (I need to find my special hat:))

Unknown said...

Aw, those race pictures are so great!

The children are adorable, and in those pictures both of them look a lot like Reese.

And Jake looks so joyous and carefree. Warms my heart.

What a great family day!

tamia said...

Reese must have been bursting with pride at all her babies and Mum-in-law-to-be-perhaps-one-day finishing such a gruelling race (1k would kill most).

Its really wonderful to know Jake and Reese are introducing certain 'freedoms', norms and fun healthier lifestyles for all of them. Guess the family that runs together, stays together.

Thanks for the links FL. Love the new post.

Thanks for the links. They really are some sweet kids.

I'm glad Jake's foot healed up OK so he can do all the things he loves.LAst year he had PoP, and before that, while they were in Mexico, wasn't he recovering foot surgery?

I love all these great pictures, especially the recent ones at the links. I am wondering, Jake's hair seems so much longer than he usually wears it. I hope he doesn't have the longish hair for his movie with Anne Hathaway. I wasn't loving his hair so much in Rendition.

UltraViolet said...

Bobbyanna, I had a feeling you would enjoy those race pics :) Glad you have the bigger monitor now. Sometimes, size does matter!

I saw this on another blog - seems like Caroline Kennedy and her kids also ran the race:

938 C Kennedy 50 F New York NY 34:06.3 10:59 43 108

462 Jack Schlossberg 17 M New York NY 27:18.2 8:48 82 115

1168 Rose Schlossberg 21 F New York NY 39:29.5 12:43 118 133

It was a family day :)

So Jake did run in the race along with his Mom and Reese's kids!

The look on his face is priceless and Reese's kids are adorable, she must be so proud of them. Great find FL, thanks!

Reese's kids are gorgeous. They have good genes, Reese and Ryan are gorgeous too. :)
They seemed to have fun running. :)

Deacon and Ava are both so beautiful - love Deacon's serious 'running man' face, and Ava is a complete mini me of Reese.

paula said...

It's amazing how much Ava looks like Reese, her kids are so beautiful! Love Jake's and Deacon's game face, and Momma is looking good!

Martha's Vineyard id such a special place for Jake and i'm thrilled that Reese and her kids are a part of that.

Such happy expressions on everyone's faces! You can see the pride of accomplishment in all of them. Not so much about winning, as about personal best, about just the doing of it! To start and complete the course. Thanks for these. They make me smile this morning. You can also see on the faces of the children that they are surrounded by very loving people.

Jake's picture does not come up on the link that FL posted. I see all the others of Naomi, Deacon but not Jake. :( Does anyone remember what number his photo is so I don't have to scoll through every pic...thanks.

Love seeing them all running. :D

Anonymous said...

jakes picture doesnt come up for me either but it did ysterday but i believe his number was 595 hope this helps

office of nancy pelosi said...

Well it was there this morning, I didn't get a chance to comment on it then, I loved the look on his face!!

I remember something like this happening before with another actor. A photographer had posted some pics on his site and they weren't supposed to be linked. If you wanted it you would have to pay for it. Someone did try to post it w/o credit or paying so he deleted the pics! Not saying this is what happened here , but I wouldn't be surprised.

Love that they all joined Jake for the run and like everyone else has saud already, her kids are beautiful!

PopSugar has Jake and Ava and a really cute pic of Jake snapping a photo. (I added that one to the front.)

Thanks to all those who pointed me in the right direction for the Jake pics! SQUEE is all I have to say!! :D

UltraViolet said...

Definitely worth a few squees :)

Speaking of which... remember when this blogger interviewed Jake and asked him some questions she'd solicited from Gyllenhaalics. Including the all-important cilantro inquiry?

Well, the journalist, Vanessa Farquharson, has written a book about going green. And she's expanded (hopefully not by embellishing) the story:

Farquharson loved the financial benefits of not owning a car (more money for bamboo dresses!) and even found a glamorous side to bike riding. While she was interviewing American actor Jake Gyllenhaal, he pointed to the grease mark on her right shin and asked, “Is that a rookie mark on your leg?” He reached over and ran his finger across her leg and said: “It totally is. Cool.” She had never imagined that riding a bike could get a movie star to touch you! “Ride safe,” he said with a wink as they parted.

Yeah, pretty much the best interview ever! For her, I mean.

Actually, click on the link if you haven't read the interview itself. She did a great job. Cpngrats to her on the book.

That picture is definately squee worthy, he looks so proud of Ava, Thanks for posting it!!

PS: I guess we now know why the pic was pulled!

I was wondering why Jake and Reese's kids are listed as being from NY and not from Calif? Did they buy a place in NY?

Such cute kids, I'm so glad Jake has become a part of Reese's family. I wonder when/if they are getting married.

Anonymous said...

i wonder that too jake also listed new york as his home town i dont think they have a home there

I think there's a Gyllenhaal "family" apartment is in Manhattan. In addition to Maggie and Peter living in Brooklyn.

A little bit about Jake at the race:

Jake Gyllenhaal was among the 1,500 or so runners who hoofed it at the Chilmark Road Race on Martha's Vineyard over the weekend. The 5K race along scenic Middle Road is exceptionally hilly, but that didn't seem to bother the "Brokeback Mountain" actor, who's doubtless learned a thing or two about endurance from his buddy Lance Armstrong. There was no sign of Gyllenhaal's sweetheart Reese Witherspoon at the finish line, but he did stop to say hello to fellow runners Doug Liman, director of "The Bourne Identity," and Tamara Buchwald, daughter-in-law of the late Art Buchwald. (Tamara had a tiny role in Liman's movie "Jumper.")

Added the photo to the post, too.

Someone else on twitter mentioned that Reese and Jake were seen at the beach yesterday. Nw where are those cell phone pics? :)

suvee said...

UV, loved that little tidbit from Vanessa F's book...... made me realize that this interminable Jake movie drought has also robbed us of the pleasure of seeing Flirty Jake. Cannot wait until he starts Brothers promotion..... I'm really looking forward to some potentially great interviews!

And I'm truly embarrassed to admit that I was positively giddy when I first learned he is a fellow cilantro hater. (It's actually a genetic thing.... we are missing some olfactory receptors.) That pretty much made him the Perfect Man in my book. :)

I'm so touched by that set of race photos of Ava and Jake taking her picture...... their expressions say it all.

chica said...

That photo of Jake taking a picture of the Ava and Deacon at the race is the sweetest thing ever! Doug Liman is attached to the upcoming UMP as director, hopefully something is happening with that project.

Ah, the cilantro interview, I remember that Q&A, thanks for linking the article. I love hearing and reading about flirty Jake, lucky woman!
