Playing The Field

Did I say it was a slow day around here? Things can pick up fast :)

Jake Gyllenhaal watching Reese Witherspoon at softball practice.

Oh, here are a few of pictures of Jake actually watching!

I posted this in the replies just before closing the last post. A cute Jake and Reese sighting:

Susan Feniger – of City Restaurant, Ciudad and Border Grill fame – opened The Street (restaurant) on Highland and Melrose last month, and it has a large outdoor seating area, as well as an indoor one – and is open and serving food from around the world till at least 11 PM – hard to find hours these days. The food is modeled on street food from India, China, Malaysia and all around the world – and the cocktail selection is equally exotic. But maybe even cooler than the smart well-informed waiters, casual environment, cool crowd and outdoor seating – was the spotting of Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon dining there. What a cool sighting – they were holding hands and laughing, and no one bothered them at all – but everyone knew they were there. It’s very fun to hang there late-night.

Thanks, UV (and IHJ)! You just made me forget this nasty cold that's had me feeling puny all day..... the healing power of Jake is amazing! :)

Seriously, I've been hoping to see pictures of Reese with her personal softball "coach". I had a feeling he would show up at her training sessions sooner or later. They look so happy and in love.....

suvee said...

Sorry..... I forgot to tell you how much I loved reading the J&R sighting at The Street. I'm blaming it on this cold..... I'm a little foggy in the head tonight.

UltraViolet said...

I understand, suvee. Colds - and Jake - can do that to you! I adored the sighting - as we always say, those gems are even better than pics.

Of course, then we get pictures like these...

I have also been waiting for Jake to hit the field, but I imagined him tossing the ball or playing catch. This was better :)

Good night, babblers!

So sweet!
I love the look of Jake.
thank you, UV (and Steph)!

The sighting is adorable!:):):)

I think Jake was enjoying the view from behind the catcher :)

Hate to keep using the word, but they really are adorable.

Anonymous said...

There's something about the way he's holding her or touching her...I guess if it's so, we'll know soon enough.

I agree- adorable!

Very sweet and tender, and just, guh!

Thanks, UV. Made my night!

Beautiful, sweet, adorable, and more, I love these pictures of them! And I love his sly grin, maybe he was making fun of her techniques??

Lemon said...

The Street sounds like my kind of restaurant.

Reese looks like she's having so much fun these days. Its nice to see J+R happy and relaxed. =]

Sheba, you'll have to excuse me. I have my French exams at the moment so I'm being really anal about trivial things.

Ok, I need to stay off of twitter!

A tour guide who lives in New Jersey/Princeton claims that Reese was looking at her Great, great, great Grandfathers home in Princeton. That would be John Witherspoon. No date of the tour but I know one of the rags said that she was looking for a place for the Summer in Philly to stay with the kids and Jake when she starts filming her new movie.

Maybe she is looking at place in Jersey as well? It is close to Philly. The tour guide also mentioned UPS boxes for Witherspoon but I can't tell if she was joking or not!

FL said...

The tour guide also mentioned UPS boxes for Witherspoon but I can't tell if she was joking or not!.
.
The thing about Princeton, New Jersey is that so MUCH is named after John Witherspoon, I guess what with him being the 6th President of the university.

Anyway, that UPS comment in that tweet is referring to Witherspoon STREET in Princeton, NJ. There's also, of course Witherspoon Hall, a dormitory on the Princeton campus. :)

FL said...

So I guess that also means that Reese is currently in Princeton NJ on the genealogy tour?

This must be the house the Tweet is referring to.

agent_krycek said...

Goodness Reese has fabulous legs, lovely photos, much enjoyed, and a quick wave to Sass, always good to hear from you hunny!

extra said...

Thanks for the info FL! That cleared up a few things. I now think that she may have been kidding about giving Reese the tour!

Reese does have great legs!

Anonymous said...

Princeton is about an hour and a half away from Philly. I can't imagine she'd want to be that far out.

FL said...

Aww Jake sitting down front at the Lakers/Nuggets game tonight. He was just shown on television. Wearing what looked like exactly what he was wearing in these pics of Reese at the softball field. :)

Anonymous said...

Husband is watching Lakers game and they just showed Jake at the game.

Monica said...

Good night, babblers!

I'm watching the game and saw Jake! AWWWWWWW

Monica said...

Nailed is completed?

Both are already involved in prestige projects. Biel, who was recently razzed in the press for reportedly claiming that her beauty stood in the way of her being considered for serious roles, just completed “Nailed,” a Frank Capra-like comedy directed by David O. Russell and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, James Marsden and Catherine Keener.

suvee said...

okay, I've switched channels to the Lakers game. Is he sitting on the Jack Nicholson side of the court, or the opposite side?

FL said...

He usually sits opposite the players' benches/Jack Nicholson. So you'll be searching for the back of his head. :D

suvee said...

That's what I was afraid of, FL. I guess I'll just keep my eyes peeled for the most abnormally large head. :)

UltraViolet said...

Not sure if this link will work, but there's a picture of Jake on Getty.

Anonymous said...

Thanks, UV. Guy he's sitting with looks familiar.

get real said...

Awww, they really are adorable! Sorry can't help but squee at Jake and Reese. :)

And Jake continues to look adorable at the Lakers game.

And what a great sighting.

All around nice stuff on the J/R front! :D

(((Sass))) glad to hear from you!

Interesting about Nailed, Monica.

UltraViolet said...

Sadly, I think that Nailed bit just means that Biel finished working on it, not that the movie is completed.

But I'd be happy to be proved wrong!

chica said...

Yeah, I think that it just means that Jessica has finished with Nailed not that the film is completed. Like you UV, I hope that i'm wrong.

The Lakers lost last night, Jake was probably not in a good mood at all!

Great to see you around Sass!!

paula said...

Jake and Reese are so cute, love the pics!!! It won't be too long until she starts filming her new movie.

For a second I thought that was Paul Rudd sitting next to Jake at the Lakers game!

((((Sass))))

Anonymous said...

Maybe the guy - who does look familiar - is someone who is connected to the next film Jake will do. I know...grasping at straws.
I think of him as not just a Lakers fan but a "Basketball fan" and tho disappointed the Lakers didn't win am sure he appreciated the play of Anthony and the others.

FL said...

Jake's Lakers friend from last night is his same Lakers friend from November '07. Maybe that's why he looks familiar to some?

Anonymous said...

Whoa! You're really good, FL!

UltraViolet said...

She is, isn't she? :)

Also, I am thrilled that the Lakers lost. Sorry, Jake!

sheba baby said...

Good catch FL!!!!

I'm glad the Lakers lost too, sorry Jake!!

sheba said...

Goodmorning babblers. Great to see the lovely couple together again. Reese's pins are athletic.

((((Sass)))

Guess the lakers should have had Jake front and centre and rubbed his head for good luck. :o)

Hey Lemon, learning is lifelong so no worries. Good luck with your exams. I know how stressful this time of year can be.

I guess it will be a long time before we hear of Jake on a movie set this year unless the musical goes ahead. Awards season should be interesting though. Nothing new or really interesting to say other than carpe diem everyone.

I hope the Nuggets kicks the Lakers ass tonight, another Laker hater here!!

I hope everyone here has a safe Memorial Day weekend.

Jake picking up Reese at her gym class yesterday, unfortunately there only seems to one pic of Jake:

http://www.x17online.com/

Jake is wearing his Lakers cap in the one pic and all i have to say is: GO NUGGETS!!! I can't stand the Fakers!

chica said...

Ok, I was watching The Young and the Restles on tape ( I watch all of the episodes on the weekend) anyway one of the characters, Amber was bemoaning to her pal Chloe, that she missed her wedding but she saw pics of her wedding dress and it was so beautiful . Chloe then joked back: "Reese was so jealous, she knows that when she marries Jake, that her dress will not be as half as beautiful".

I burst out laughing, there is so much going on with that show, I don't know why I still tape it, a habit I guess!

Have a safe Memorial Day and please keep in mind why we have Monday off.

shondra said...

I haven't watched Young and Restless in years Chica, Amber and Chloe must be new characters!

That is too funny!

Have a Happy Memorial day!

sheba said...

Ha. Great props to Jake and Reese in The Young and the Restless. TBH its not been watchable since Keith Hamilton Cobb (Damon Porter) left the show.

Strange dichotomy of reality and unreality mixed in there. Thank God for fast forward :o)

chica said...

Keith Hamilton Cobb aka Noah from AMC! I loved him on both shows.

There is a lot wrong with Y&R now, hell soaps are in the crapper all around IMO, I miss the glory days.

The shout out to Jake and Reese was out of the blue , I loved it!
Yeah, thank God for FF Sheba, i do that a lot, just glad that i wasn't doing it then!

What a funny shoutout to J&R on the Young and a restless!

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Memorial day. It's a good time to watch my Jarhead DVD.

sag actor said...

Jarhead is an excellent choice, along with Full Metal Jacket.

I came across this story about returning war vets and how they use writing to heal
emotional wounds including Anthony Swafford, author of Jarhead:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/10/nyregion/connecticut/10vetsct.html

bobbyanna said...

Yesterday, Homer Hickam was on TV talking about NASA. A couple of weeks ago, there was a discussion about climate change on some TV show, and they referenced TDAT. If there's a discussion about torture and extraordinary renditon...Jake's movie comes immediately to mind, and the nasty Nygel Lithgoe said he wasn't having "brokeback ballroom dancing" on SYTYCD! We're surrounded by Jake references!!! :)

I really liked Full Metal Jacket. But I definitely think tomorrow I'll watch Jarhead.

office of nancy pelosi said...

I notice the references to TDAT when talking about global warming and Rendition when
talking about torture as well bobbyanna.

When the subject of torture comes up in the media, HBO or one of the other movie channels sometimes shows Rendition and on Earth day, at least 2 stations where i'm at showed TDAT.

When I saw Jarhead, it reminded me of Full metal Jacket, both really good movies.

tcm.com said...

Anyone interested in watching war movies over the Memorial day weekend, TCM has been showing them all weekend and will continue until tomorrow.

No Jarhead or Full metal jacket, but other classics like Bridge over the River Kwai, Glory,Best Years of Our Lives, etc.

bobbyanna said...

Interesting. Memorial Day was originally established to honor the Union soldiers killed during the Civil War. So "Glory," is a good choice.

Patton is another favorite. I even love the soundtrack.

My niece's husband returned from his tour of duty in Iraq on Thursday so this Memorial day takes on a special meaning for me and my whole family.

Remember all the men and women who serve today.

And thanks for that hilarious Jake and Reese reference from Y&R. I saw that in my internet travels and didn't know what to make of it. Thanks for putting it in context.

Good to see old and less-old names :)

Good luck on your exams, Lemon!
