A Mother's Day Treat

From Jerry Bruckheimer and the Mouse - the first real footage of Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia.

When asked by the unctuous interviewer what Jake brings to the role, Bruckheimer replies that Jake is "very handsome and in great shape. And he's a brilliant actor, which is what it's all about." Amen!

It's great to see a brief glimpse of Jake in training - I expect reels and reels of that stuff on the DVD. And the movie, and Jake, both look amazing.

Not to wish a year away, but is it May, 2010 yet?

Did some additional caps- if you click on them, they are bigger than the previous ones.

Thanks to the anon who tipped us off and to Sean, who posted it on youtube. Caps are ours, until Stephanie makes some good ones :)

That was a great surprise! For some of the comment makers on another site shown they don't seem to realize that we've just gotten seconds from a full movie that isn't even out for a year. Don't think they will be showing us yet some of the wall work, etc.
It's funny how the extreme fans of various things like Star Trek (loved it) and Iron Man and you name it are always so against everything about it. There was RDJ who had to be the wrong choice for Iron Man - Chris Pine at Comic Con being greeted with mild applause and some boos (his telling) and the majority of the time the "negative fans" are so wrong. Shouldn't it dawn on them to give these people a chance..most weren't hired for no reason.
Anyway, it's going to be a fun movie and the DVD extras are going to be so good. And you know Jake loved doing that sword stuff.

Hi Annie - do you mean on the Slash Film site? The comments there are about half and half, which is an improvement.

And the writer said he was impressed with what he saw when he was in London. I wish Disney would lift that silly gag order and let people talk about it, so we can hear the good stuff!

But I agree - some rabid fans earn that adjective! Let's hope Jake and PoP prove them wrong again.

Much better than I thought. It will be a very fun movie!
It is the first of many that will be released during the year!

Thanks, UV.

Annie, I agree with you.

Hi UV - yes that was the site - tho at the moment i can't rem. how i got onto it cause never seen it before. I would imagine others will be picking it up soon.
If I remember correctly when Disney first started to show things on "Pirates" just a little bit at a time. The previews a year ahead were of just the skeleton legs in the water and people were wondering what that was about.
Am sure Comic-Con will have a pretty good preview.
Also seems to me the company that "bought" Brothers said it would be out during the later part of the year so i'm going with that. Don't feel like it's not going to be out this year.
Thank you Monica.

And what a tasty Mother's day treat, The footage looks incredible! I hate being teased, I want to see more!!

Thanks do much for posting the video and Happy Mother's day!!

UltraViolet said...

I agree, Monica - it looks very fun and much better than I first dreaded. I mean anticipated.

And Annie, I do think Brothers will be out this year. I don't think 2009 will be Jakeless on the big screen. But they can keep us distracted with PoP tidbits while we wait!

Here's a fun take, though they are under the sad delusion that this is coming out this year:

When asked what Jake Gyllenhaal brings to the film, Bruckheimer says, "Well, he's very handsome." That being said, consider this an early warning for you and your elderly mother -- shot after shot of those stunning pecs and that dastardly smile could result in some unfortunate medical complications. You've been warned!

When asked by the unctuous interviewerSteve Kmetko!!! I wondered where he had gone. He always had a very soothing voice however unctuous he may be. ;)

Anyway, wow. W.O.W. First off Jake looks incredible in the stills and in the clip and second, god I can't wait to see this movie!! Any day we get to see Jake with locks a'flowin is a good day.

Looking real good! I think we will be getting drips and drabs of Pop leading up to this years Comic con. I hear that the trailer will be revealed.

Happy Mothers day!

.....that dastardly smile could result in some unfortunate medical complications. You've been warned! No kidding!

I was slightly amused that "he's a brilliant actor and that's what it's all about" was the third, and last, reason J. Bruckheimer offered. Um, shouldn't that be the first reason Jake was cast as Dastan? Don't get me wrong...... I do appreciate that Jake's killer good looks are not irrelevant, but still.....

My initial apprehension about PoP is fading away. This really does look like it could be a fun, good movie. Thanks, UV!

Thanks for the People scan, anon. People used the same bike photo as Us, I see. But Us cut Naomi out. Not that she probably minded!

And Steve Kmetko! That's who that unctuous man was. I knew the voice sounded familiar.

And a big old yes to seeing those locks aflowin', FL. We got robbed of seeing them by the Year of the Knit Cap.

Yet another reason to hope for sequels. Maybe Jake will be more comfortable with his locks.

jake looks amazing cant wait to see pop cant beleive we have to wait a whole year to see it

Anonymous said...

One thing is sure. As the publicity rollout accelerates, we will be seeing more and more clips and stills of Jake's Prince Dastan. The PoP will become a presence long before it hits theatres.

Made some more caps - they embiggen more if you click than the first ones.

A great surprise today - can't wait to see it all on my gigantor screen at the office tomorrow :)

Whoa, Jake looks ripped in these clips/video! The footage looks great and I can't wait until 2010!

Thanks so much for posting, what a great way to start the morning!

This really looks good, I was a bit worried when I first heard about this. Jake Looks incredible, I can't believe we have to wait until next year!

LOL, Steve Kmetko! I wondered where he disappeared to!

It's a bit tough getting work done when I keep playing the video.

More nonsense about J&R, this time from The Sun. Maggie & Peter have inspired them to get married next summer.

Get those hats ready!

Oh, and I forgot this, from People:

Couples Watch

Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon, sharing French fries as an appetizer while lunching at R & D Kitchen in Santa Monica. "Reese looked adorable and very happy," an eyewitness tells us, adding that the couple engaged in "fun conversation" during their meal. The two kept dipping their fries in a little cup with ketchup and split a burger and salad. "Jake was very attentive and filled up Reese's water glass a few times," adds the eyewitness.

It's a bit tough getting work done when I keep playing the video.Same here, thanks for the screencaps.

UltraViolet said...

Yeah, but are you watching it on your supersize monitor?! < /obnoxious boasting >

You're welcome for the caps. If folks haven't checked them out, the new ones are quite big. I mean pretty.

Honestly, I know size doesn't matter. I do!

Nicole said...

Wow,what a great surprise! Thanks for posting this video. I can't wait to see this movie.

Next summer there'll be lots of promotional tours all over the world for Prince of Persia. Reese and Jake seem to stay away from mixing business and personal stuff, so I don't think it's true about a wedding next summer. I think it will be sooner.

The screen caps are absolutely drool worthy! He looks, sexy, dashing and all too hot!

I wish we didn't have to wait so long to see this on the big screen but I have a feeling it will be worth the wait.

Thanks for the People scan anon. and the People link UV and of course thanks for the yummy screen caps!

For once I agree with X17. Reese at the 5th anniversary for the Avon comprehensive breast cancer center at San Francisco General hospital yesterday:

Reese looks great in that dress.

I do'nt know if we already knew this, but Bruckheimer plans PoP game. From a story about JB hiring people for his games unit:

Bruckheimer Games plans a "Prince of Persia" title linked to Walt Disney Pictures' "The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," which he is producing and is slated for release in 2010 with Jake Gyllenhaal as the Prince.
