Premiere party people

Southpaw had its official premiere in New York City on Monday night. The cast was in attendance, and Eminem came. But director Antoine Fuqua had to send a video message (with surprise guests) from the set of Magnificent Seven.

Vanity Fair talks to Antoine Fuqua, with BTS video of Fuqua, Fifty and Jake:

He’s pretty buff in the film, which is impressive since he was so hollowed out and scrawny in his last, Nightcrawler.

After he did Nightcrawler, he was a little skinny guy and had to buff up. We trained about six months before we started shooting, two-a-days. What he did—I had him train with me, because I train every day. So he could just do it with my trainer. Then he had to go away to do Everest [a mountain-climbing drama, scheduled for release in September] so we tried to have someone there with him, to keep him on a diet and keep him going. And to Jake’s credit he did a pretty good job of maintaining, at least to a degree. And then as soon as he came back, we just went in and sparred for four months of every-day training, everywhere he went. Jake was in a ring every day.

No need to worry, BFCA (Critics Choice) score is a whopping 81. RT and MC numbers will catch up when all the reviews will be published.

For comparison, Nightcrawler had a 88 BFCA score, a 95 RT and 76 MC score.
If Southpaw has a 81 BFCA score (better than all detractors expected!), the RT number will be higher.

More importantly, the reviews are glowing for Jake. Deadline's Peter Hammond declares Jake's performance "the best of this year so far" and sees him as an Oscar player. Similar praise from Awardscircuit. Another reviewer thinks Jake is about to become America's favorite leading man. Typing from my phone, I can't copy/paste and make links, unfortunately.

As for the TS hoopla, much ado about nothing. It was indeed a jerk-ish move by GMA (or whomever decided to play that music) but it doesn't take away anything from SP promotion. The red carpet premiere is tonight, tomorrow Jake talks to Jimmy Fallon, Wed. to Jon Stewart, Thu. to Seth Meyers. Tons of new stuff to be reported.

Can't leave without thanking, once again, UV for the work she's doing. It seems there are more interviews, featurettes, pics than ever, and we can find them all here.

I got a sneak preview of the movie Southpaw in Livonia. It is better than Rocky. And it isn't even close. Check it out on Friday #Southpaw

Didn't expect myself to enjoy #Southpaw but I did. Captivating plot and good acting by Jake Gyllenhaal amd Oona Laurence. πŸ‘

southpaw was AMAZING Jake Gyllenhaal is definitely going to drum up some nom's this year. Forrest W. as well!

I woke up this morning thinking boxing was boring & Jake Gyllenhaal was cute but not hot. I was wrong. Thanks #Southpaw

SOUTHPAW, a good boxing drama melded with family trauma. Gyllenhaal didn't make me cry but Whitaker did.

Kurt Sutter called Jake Gyllenhaal a "super smart cat" and I love him for it.

Jake Gyllenhaal does a killer impersonation of Eminem in SOUTHPAW. Forest Whitaker walks away with the movie by being quiet, reserved.

#Southpaw was terrific. Would not be surprised if Jake Gyllenhaal received back to back Oscar nominations for best actor.

@SouthpawMovie was worth every bit of hype I had for it. excellent movie, I swear I didn't cry 10 times. @eOnefilms #Southpaw
if it wasn't 10 is must have been 11. My glasses are a complete mess. Such a good movie. #Southpaw

It may be only July, but the Best Actor Oscar race just heated up in a BIG way. #Southpaw

AP review:

If you've ever wondered what might have happened to Job if had a strong left hook, "Southpaw" may be the film for you.

The rapid descent of light heavyweight champ Billy Hope (Jake Gyllenhaal) in Antoine Fuqua's boxing drama is of biblical proportions. Not weeks after Hope — rich, happy, successful — has defended his belt and unblemished record, a fatal altercation strips him of his family, his mansion and his career.

This being a boxing film, redemption is as much a certainty as a training montage. But Fuqua, an avid boxer himself, has pushed the pugilist parable even further. "Southpaw" is downright Old Testament.

As a tale of transformation, "Southpaw" functions two ways. There's the story of Billy Hope striving to build his life back. And then there's the tale of the actor who plays him. The latter packs the bigger punch. ...

Much has already been made of Gyllenhaal's bulking up for "Southpaw," and it's indeed impressive. But beyond the startling sight of the actor we once knew as Donnie Darko covered in muscles and tattoos, Gyllenhaal's performance is most dynamic in his tender, mumbled moments with his wife, Maureen (Rachel McAdams) or daughter Leila (Oona Laurence). Outside of the ring, his Billy Hope sounds like a guy who's been knocked around. ...

If the footwork of "Southpaw," written by Kurt Sutter ("Sons of Anarchy"), is never light as a feather, its heart is seldom in doubt. The solid acting, led by Gyllenhaal and Whitaker, liven up the clichΓ©s, and Fuqua's deep affection for the sport gives the movie a brisk, entertaining earnestness.

In bloody close-ups and bruising sounds, Fuqua captures the blinding brutality inside the ring. But his faith is never in question: This is a parable that believes strongest in boxing, itself.

Deadline Hollywood:

But as I say in my video review (click the link above), essentially this is a father-daughter story, and a heart-tugging one at that, thanks to fine direction from Antoine Fuqua and a humanistic script by Sons Of Anarchy’s Kurt Sutter. Although there are plenty of echoes of past boxing films, from the grit of Raging Bull to the heart of The Champ (both versions) as well as the Rocky pics, Champion, Somebody Up There Likes Me and others, this movie has a beating heart of its own. And that largely is thanks to the determination of Gyllenhaal to give his all to this enterprise. He reportedly worked out several hours a day for five months to learn how to play this fighter, having never boxed before. Fuqua reportedly insisted there be no doubles, and now, having seen this twice, I certainly could not tell that this wasn’t 100% Gyllenhaal. He’s something here, an actor who completely buries himself in this role the same way he did as the creepy news cameraman Lou in Nightcrawler.

Playing a boxer has often brought Oscar recognition of one sort or another to many actors from De Niro and Stallone to Kirk Douglas and Wallace Beery. I might have to agree with Weinstein that Gyllenhaal could join them. It is the most impressive jake-gyllenhaal-southpaw-480x360lead performance from an actor so far this year, and it certainly seemed to impress Academy members who saw it a little over a week ago. The supporting cast also is very fine, particularly McAdams and young Lawrence, and Whitaker looks like he was born into his role.

Saw a tweet that Harvey W was there. I was wondering if he'd abandoned Southpaw before it even premiered! (Though I have to say TWC has certainly spent a lot on ads.)

And yikes:

That moment at #southpaw premiere when u see #jayz and say a friendly "Hi" and out of nowhere you have his bodyguards trying to take away your cellphone ,and they push you, because you took a video of him "NO PICTURES OF JAY Z!" Some good questions and answers in this interview.

Southpaw gets rousing reception at NYC premiere:

Harvey Weinstein and stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams were among the big names on hand at tonight’s New York premiere of the boxing pic Southpaw. The crowd at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square on Broadway gave a rousing reception to the film about a champion fighter who has it all before a family tragedy threatens everything. The screening went off without director Antoine Fuqua, who was on the set of his next film, The Magnificent Seven. But Fuqua gave threw the crowd a bone with a video appearance. The hook: Right behind him was the cast of his remake, including Chris Pratt, Denzel Washington, Matt Bomer and others — all in costume, some on horseback.

"Southpaw" New York Premiere - For THE WRAPEminem, who originally was approached to star in the Gyllenhaal role of champion boxer Billy Hope, was at the premiere will fellow rapper-actor 50 Cent, who plays the fighter’s hotshot manager. Eminem, who won a Best Song Oscar for “Lose Yourself” from 2002’s 8 Mile, wrote and performs “Phenomenal,” the key track for the new film. As for a faraway spot on musical spectrum, Weinstein noted in introducing Southpaw that the film is dedicated to composer James Horner, who died in a plane crash last month.

Okay, I have to call it a night, but I keep forgetting to post this New Yorker piece. A nice look at Jake at this "home" gym.

Athe Church Street Boxing Gym, a basement grotto in lower Manhattan, goads to activity include peeling posters of Marvelous Marvin Hagler, the trainers’ ”FIGHTING SOLVES EVERYTHING” shirts, and the rap soundtrack. Also, there aren’t any chairs. Jake Gyllenhaal, who worked out there twice a day for six months, said that his trainer, Terry Claybon, insisted, “Never sit down, never lean against the ropes, never cross your arms.” Surrounded by boxers who were skipping rope and hitting mitts, the thirty-four-year-old actor wore his Nikes unlaced and had Ray-Bans hooked over the collar of his T-shirt, but he stood erect as a poplar.

Last tweet:

Just saw Southpaw! Thanks to the ever-magnificent @mrwillw for the tickets!! #SoSad #MuchCry #VeryJake Jake Gyllenhaal is just so so good so so so so so good at the whole acting thing.

That about sums it up :)

Interesting article about an actor who shot an emotional scene with Jake:

Adam Ratcliffe saw the anguish in Jake Gyllenhaal’s eyes, felt the chill of the hospital room, and the pain of the worst day of his life came rushing back to him.

A couple of years earlier, Ratcliffe and his wife, Andrea, were devastated by the stillbirth of their first child, Alaina Reese, in an Abington Memorial Hospital room that eerily resembled the one in Pittsburgh where he was filming a pivotal scene with Gyllenhaal for director Antoine Fuqua’s highly anticipated drama “Southpaw,” opening Friday.

Ratcliffe, playing a sheriff, is the man tasked with telling Gyllenhaal’s broken-down-boxer character, coming to after a near-fatal, drug-induced car accident, that his daughter has been taken from him by New York’s child services. Gyllenhaal reacts violently, and Ratcliffe must physically restrain him.

“As I watched him perform, I have to admit that I got choked up,” Ratcliffe, 37, says last Friday afternoon after picking up lunch for Andrea and their 1½-year-son, Carter, at Tony’s Place in Ivyland on his way home to Warminster from an audition in Philly. “You could tell from his look he was clearly all into the role. It was inspiring, man, very cathartic to be on the other end of this seasoned actor working with whatever sense memory he had summoned.
“I told him I lost my daughter in a hospital room that was just like the one we shot the scene in. The room felt the same, the temperature felt the same — it was a very foreboding situation. When I told him, he got a little emotional and gave me a huge hug and thanked me for helping to make the scene work so well.”

Ratcliffe, a Warwick native and 1993 Central Bucks East High School graduate, says Gyllenhaal asked to go off-script in the scene.

“Jake was telling everybody to trust him, he’s in control, he knew what he was doing,” he says. “He was going to follow this visceral feeling.

“On the first take, I put my forearm on his throat, and you could hear this little gargle. I clearly wanted it to be as real as possible. The take was awesome; unfortunately, I’m not Jake Gyllenhaal, and they needed to see his face instead of my forearm. Jake was really cool about it, but I don’t think that’s the one they use, even though I thought it was the most realistic take.”

Someone mentioned Harvey abandoning SP, sounds like Fuqua was promoting his higher profile film at the expense of SP. Fuqua should have been there in NYC instead of using SP as a promotion for Denzel's latest ego trip. RT is at 50%, so where are those positive reviews?

They need to get some of the positive reviews on RT soon because people are checking the score and that 50% rating doesn't look good.

Just curious - did ANY film critic get an invite for SOUTHPAW without asking for one?

Not to thump my chest too much, but I write for some of the bigger outlets in the US & UK. Was not invited to SOUTHPAW. Hiding something?

What I'm saying is, because one publicist may have accidentally neglected to invite me, I'm going to forever immaturely hate this movie.

I pledge to never see the movie SOUTHPAW, ever. I hope it wins the Academy Award. I will go to my grave before seeing it.

I think that not all the critics have seen the movie yet.

Ann said...

Wow. That doesn't sound good at all. I follow a few film critics/writers/reviewers/whatever on twitter and I've been curious as to why none of them have mentioned Southpaw this week. I guess that's why. Or maybe I'm following the wrong accts, Lol.

Either way, I'm blaming Harvey, Lol

I smell disaster box office and critically, poor Jake. Monica you were right, Jake should run as far away from Fuqua and Weinstein as fast and far as possible.

Well at least no stress over awards season and Jake Everest and Nocturnal Animals coming and hopefully a musical in his future. This sucks so bad. I think inviting the critics with an enthusiastic audience would have helped.

BlueJean said...

What is that all about? I know reviews aren't / weren't all good, but this is ridiculous. I've read more comments from people (not here) who said Jake shouldn't work with Fuqua, but I'm willing to give Fuqua the benefit of the doubt and watch the film before I criticize.

I was wondering, why pay so much attention to what critics say? Some of my favorite movies were bashed by critics before I saw it, but I loved them either way and see it a thousand times;p If you're a fan, you support the actor and the movie by going to see it in theater. There's nothing more you can do, right?

Most of us will see Southpaw and love it, just like most people online who tweeted their excitement ("normal" cinema fans).
So what it's not Oscar worthy? He says it himself, as long as his/the audience likes/loves it, he's happy and content. Jake seems to be enjoying himself so much with making his latest movies^__^, that's what matters, in my opinion.

Or is this a completely unpopular opinion?

I've read more comments from people (not here) who said Jake shouldn't work with Fuqua, but I'm willing to give Fuqua the benefit of the doubt and watch the film before I criticize.

On the one hand I agree with you, on the other hand I hope Jake will drop out of "The Man Who Made It Snow". Hardly anyone was interested in the latest Pablo Escobar movie. "The Man Who Made It Snow" is said to have a somewhat bigger budget than "Southpaw" ($35 million). Thus Jake will feel even more pressure to be succesful at the box office. Antoine Fuqua just isn't critics' darling. As far as I can judge it Weinstein does a good job promoting "Southpaw". But IF "Southpaw" won't meet his expectactions at the box office, Weinstein might end up promoting "The Man Who Made It Snow" only halfheartedly. Overall a very risky project in my view.

bobbyanna said...

Jordan Hoffman was joking, but still managed to get his point across about what appears to be a haphazard way of inviting critics or not. Usually most critics (bot all) get notices of advance screenings but embargo their reviews until a movie opens. There's no obligation for the people promoting Southpaw to personally invite critics.
In fact some critics might see that as a conflict of interest.

This says it all:

Jordan Hoffman:
"What I'm saying is, because one publicist may have accidentally neglected to invite me, I'm going to forever immaturely hate this movie."

... this too. In my case that goes for 'Enemy'. And as you said Anon, it doesn't seem to matter that much to Jake. Making SP was a phenomenal (!) experience for him personally and that's what he'll remember more than anything else, I suppose. Box office or no box office.

No I completely agree with you. Some of my favorite Jake films don't have high ratings on RT but I still love them. Critics and awards don't affect how I view films. I like what I like. And I also agree that Jake is enjoying himself and seems very content in what he's achieved and he should be!

However, I do also see the need in having critical and box office success so I guess I see both sides of it. I would love to see Jake having the kind of critical and box office success that some of his less-talented (IMO) peers are having.

True, Monica. Also I think awards season is affected, influenced to some degree by what critics say.

Can I just say that I don't fault Antoine for not coming in for the premiere. I also don't fault Antoine for having Denzel, Chris Pratt, and the rest of the cast surrounding him as he sends his best wishes. I looked at it as all of them sending their good wishes and support. Wasn't that Peter Sarsgaard among them, too? Anyway I didn't look at it as a cheap ploy for publicity for M 7 at all. If Antoine needed to be on set, he needed to be on set. Maybe it would've affected the shooting schedule and the budget for him to leave. We have no idea of the extenuating circumstances.

As for The Man Who Made it Snow, I'm not real enthused. I agree that I wouldn't be upset if he dropped out. It's very derivative, there are elements of Traffic and several other movies. I get it. It's a true story of some guy who got drawn into the Illegal Drug Trade, and ended up cooperating with the Feds, but it's all so familiar. I guess not all of Jake's movies need to be groundbreaking or important. Sometimes he'll be attracted to something because he likes the story the director or the character. Who knows. A good director can bring out the best in an actor, but I think it's also true that a good actor who collaborates with his director can also bring out the best in his director. ; )

Hagen, I think Jake has a really good instinct about his projects. He's not going to get "First Look" like Leo does. But most actors don't. I bet there's less than a half dozen actors who are at that level. I think generating your own projects as a producer, insures you do the kind of projects, and the quality, you find most satisfying. If Jake hooks a role in an ensemble, or a big franchise as a villain or a hero, fine. Great. But there's definitely room for more Nightcrawlers or End of Watch, out here.

Agree:
"We all understand the need for Jake to have a box office hit. But belaboring the point and making everything about that just makes this an unfun place to visit. Yes, it will be a drag if this is "rotten" and a box office failure. But since we don't know what's going to happen, let's not dwell on it. "

Here's Jake reaction on TS song:

http://www.etonline.com/news/168360_jake_gyllenhaal_responds_to_gma_playing_ex_taylor_swift_bad_blood_during_interview/

I wouldn't post it, but I didn't know it went so far they were asking him for that, because I was pretty sure he didn't even notice it. Me personally don't know any of her song, I'd never even recognize her voice, I just know she exists, so I didn't notice that song too, but all this affair is ridiculous, but as someone said before he expected Eminem's song, too.

I bought my ticket on SP, they play it in one art cinema on Friday, where no food, no drinks are allowed, so I am happy I don't have to go to big cinema city.

There are still 16 reviews only on RT, so I'd wait for wilder reviews before judgment, moreover one thing is his performance one thing is a movie, we all knew it's going to be clichΓ© movie. Now it is on 40%, I hope it will go up. I am wondering how is possible Fuqua is not obliged to be on premiere, the same as Whitaker, it looks like whole promotion remained on Jake's shoulders. SV

Thanks, Ann. I only saw Maggie with Jake not Peter. I just assumed he was back in Baton Rouge filming

Looks like Jake and Eminem will do something for Youtube tomorrow, I think. Though there are photos today. And Jake, Oona Laurence and Miguel Gomez did something for Sirius. No video on that, either.

I'm sad that both IndieWire reviews are negative. Praise for Jake but not the movie.

Local review.

Loved this part of a review:

Outside the ropes things are less interesting but Gyllenhaal never stops throwing the punches. Radiator abs aside, it’s an unflattering, unshowy role that he refuses to overplay. The result is a street-smart, coiled spring of a turn, as psychologically acute as it is physically authentic.

@Adrian_Charlie Contributing writer for @NextProjection Co-host of @TheGreen_Screen Movie Podcast.
SOUTHPAW - I love this film! Gyllenhaal continues to shine, McAdams is great and the little girl stole my heart.
SOUTHPAW plays like an homage to ROCKY and I’m totally ok with that. Gyllenhaal rocks.

Victor Ortiz gives Jake props.

Vanity Fair talks to Starlee Kine:

Do most people seem game when you tell them what you’re doing? Are they excited about the prospect of participating in an investigation like that?

Yeah, everyone has been very game. I mean, Jake Gyllenhaal was the most reluctant. You know, he was the one that took the longest. Then he was really game once we talked, like, amazingly game.

What got him on the phone, what did it take? I was nervous when I realized we were going to hear the audio, because I’ve had phone interviews with famous people and it’s like the most hollow thing. They’re really guarded, you know, but he did seem really into it.

Yeah. Once he got on the phone, he was immediately into it. I mean, it took a long time to get him to do that phone call. It took, really, it took a few years. Because that was one of my initial ideas when I was first thinking about the show. The reason he said yes was because, he said after he saw Sloane [Crosley] in the restaurant, that’s when he knew he would do it. He’d been given messages before, and he knew I was looking for him, but it wasn’t until I got her to give him the message. He said he thought it was like fate, that he should talk to me, after seeing her. We talked for a long time. We talked for over an hour, and he really kept stalling. He was also instantly game. The second I picked up, he was so funny, and so . . . I guess I knew he was going to be game because he agreed to do it, but I didn’t know how game he was. And how totally delightful he was.

It seemed like he was delaying it largely because he almost felt this responsibility to not let this fun mystery end, right?

I think so, yeah, and I think he didn't think it was interesting, how tall he is, right? Which is kind of the whole point—why do people care about how tall he is? He was trying to add to the mystery because I think he was worried that it would be anti-climactic when the answer comes. It was weird, he wouldn’t have known, the show didn’t exist. He couldn’t have known how perfectly on point he was with the show, the tone of the show. But he did, he was great.

Me too! Haven't seen a lot of Dutch people on the internet/Tumblr when it comes to Jake. Sad thing was that the first premiere date was set on August 10th (according to IMDB). Everest is almost premiering earlier. It's gonna be such a LONG wait :'(

Coming to terms with the fact that there's no way I can watch and read all of the videos, interviews, photos, tweets, etc. I don't know how Jake does it, lol. I do think he looked a bit tired at the premiere last night but he seemed to be enjoying himself. I watched the red carpet arrivals and I didn't think the cast looked miserable.

Thanks UV for keeping us all updated on everything. I don't know how you do it either. You and Jake deserve a vacation after this is all over :)

bobbyanna said...

Just wanted to mention that I watched the full red carpet video, (17+ minutes) and at the 8 minute mark, you will see Antoine Fuqua's wife, the actress, Leila Rochon, in a white suit with a white lacy blouse, posing for photos along with their three kids at the Southpaw premiere.

If Southpaw under performs and that's an "IF", I don't think it's going to hugely impact his career. Yes i'd love him to always have success at the box office but it's clear he's pretty respected as a talented actor within his industry and he absolutely gives it 110% when promoting his work unlike some other actors.....

Variety thinks Southpaw will open in the low teens, i'm hoping for mid teens and up! Given the budget was $30 mil then that is fine. Consider that they are predicting pixels with a budget of $90 mil will around $25 mil.

Thanks for the Victor Ortiz clip UV. Some great footage of Jake training while Victor talked about his style. : )

I think I mentioned a while ago that I was concerned about Pixels and Paper Towns, but I never factored Ant Man or Trainwreck into it and I should've. (I'm hoping Paper Towns will under-perform.)The Variety article gives a pretty decent analysis of what to expect this weekend, but even more important, it shows that Jake's movie will get respect no matter what happens at the Box office. I think it helps that the movie's budget is not extravagant, and it's opening in 2750 screens. Pixels will open much wider. I'm still hoping for a top four slot.

Ann, I so hear you. I have given up doing the usual full twitter searches. Too much all day! I still haven't watched/read/listened to all of this stuff.

There are lots of positive Southpaw tweets tonight. And a very few negative ones. I will stop posting them, but it is fun to read. I think there were a lot of screenings. There was one in Boston but I couldn't go. Will have to wait until Thursday night.

Schmoes Know really liked the movie. Lots of praise for all the actors, especially Jake. They admit it's a cliche Rocky stew but done right. They really liked the boxing scenes, as boxing fans. Huge praise for Jake. You care about the journey because you care about the people, especially Jake.

Aww at the Josh Gad photo. Looks like Jake stayed for his segment.

UltraViolet said...

Hi to canuck_cutie, as well!

And yeah, Southpaw has a lot of competition. I hope it gets at least Top 4, too, Bobbyanna.

Looks like there was a SAG screening tonight at the New School, as well. As Ann said, Jake has to be exhausted! It would be nice if Forest or Antoine were helping shoulder this. Rachel Macadams is definitely doing her part.

Okay, maybe just one tweet:

Let's get this out of the way. Jake Gyllenhaal CANNOT be overlooked two years in a row. He's an absolute powerhouse.

I can't believe this is really going to happen, but apparently Jake is going to be on Howard Stern tomorrow.

That was a great episode of the Tonight Show. Twitter definitely agreed:

I'm just gona say it, Jimmy Fallon has the best show on tv.and Jake Gyllenhal is probably the best actor in the movies. Epic@#fallontonight

Wow. That has to be the most I've ever laughed at @FallonTonight. @jimmyfallon @joshgad and Jake Gyllenhaal are incredibly hilarious

The kind of @jimmyfallon that actually feels unscripted and thus bloody hilarious. #uncouth #JakeGyllenhaal

I feel like we just got to watch the best teen boy sleepover ever! @FallonTonight was excellent tonight! @joshgad and #JakeGyllenhaal rule

And LOL:

In the Southpaw clip I just saw Jake Gyllenhaal was giving Forrest Whittaker the Forrest Whittaker eye. It was like ocular inception!

And another LOL:

Why does Jake Gyllenhaal wear shirts?

Positive JoBlo review. I'm not linking the negative ones, though they continue to come in.

This made me laugh:

I attempted to demonstrate a 'jab' for #JakeGyllenhaal lastnight at #Southpaw premiere. Guess it needs work.
ALSO - if you don't like people clapping in a movie theater - this movie isn't for you.

More tweets. I know, I know - sue me!

Jake talks a bit about The Man Who Made It Snow at the end of the Hey U Guys interview just posted. Seems like it's a go. If Southpaw is a box office disappointment, maybe it will not happen.

When both you & your dad cry during #Southpaw. I loved it though. Jake Gyllenhaal is everything. Thanks for the free screening @AMCTheatres!

aw a screener of @SouthpawMovie presented by @eOnefilms last night. Excellent film, Quite the tearjerker. Jake Gyllenhaal is amazing.

Saw the advance screening for #Southpaw last night. Amazing!! Kudos to @JakeGyllenhal and @ForestWhitaker for great performances!!

I saw Jimmy Kimmel. Jake is so funny. lol I hope Lainey will stop saying that he is serious.

If Southpaw is a box office disappointment, maybe it will not happen.

If Mag 7 is a success, and will because of Denzel Washington, TMWMIS will receive the green light.

It is not easy to say it, but I would rather see Jake in a comic book movie than to see him work again with Antoine Fuqua.
