UV, I'm still trying to catch up the previous interviews you have posted, but more Jake is never to much.
He looks so good in the Russian clip and the woman in the train is one lucky one and she is taking advantage of the situation, but I don't think Jake's is noticing the legs, :)

Exclusive: Jake Gyllenhaal Top Pick For New Batman in Justice League Movie; Budget, Directors, Producers

Our DC Entertainment source has provided us with some more news about the Justice League movie.

Cosmic Book News previously told you that the Man of Steel would be spearheading a new DC shared movie universe with new Superman Henry Cavill going on to star in the Justice League movie.

We were also the first to tell you that a new Batman movie would debut some time in 2016, with it rumored to be based on the Arkham Asylum Video Game.

Now our source has not only provided us with Warner Bros.' top choice to be the new Batman, but a reported short list of directors, in addition to the budget and producers for the Justice League movie.

We are told that DC Comics writer and chief creative officer Geoff Johns will be on the Justice League movie as executive producer along with Thomas Tull of Legendary Pictures, who is also co-financing. The budget is said to be in the $250 million range.

As we know, a director hasn't been named as of yet, but said to be on the short list is Man of Steel director Zack Snyder, Ruben Fleischer, Darren Aronofsky and Guillermo Del Toro.

Our source made it a point that it comes down to the director and producers of the Justice League movie for the choice of the new Batman, but currently the studios' top pick is — Jake Gyllenhaal.

Batman movie historians will note that Jake Gyllenhaal was Batman Begins writer David Goyer's first choice to play Batman, but was obviously beat out by Christopher Nolan's pick of Christian Bale. Gyllenhaal was also up for the role of Harvey "Two Face" Dent in The Dark Knight as well.

If Jake Gyllenhaal is the new Batman, then by all accounts he will go on to star in the 2016 Batman reboot.

In addition to the above, our source told us information about the Green Lantern movie before it was released, as well as some early Man of Steel script spoilers that made their way into the final version of the movie.

I don't want him to do the justice league, kind of lame. But Henry C can act and if they replaced the Green Latern with another actor than maybe. Ryan can't act. But this is all rumor.

Monica said...

I love that photo on the train.
I'll just watch these videos after watching End of Watch.

Comic Book.com is not a reliable source. Never was!

As a Batman fan, I don't want a reboot so soon. I know they will do it, but the other movies are so recent. And this story of the Justice League is starting to annoy me!

Henry is a good actor and beautiful and sexy and hot, anon! Ryan Reynolds look like a fool!

Viv said...

No.....I don't want Jake to be the new batman......it's too soon to reboot....

hmmm....I don't know much about Henry Cavill, but most of his films are pretty bad...

Scott said...

"....I don't know much about Henry Cavill, but most of his films are pretty bad..."

What film, just 1 that I know of and we all know that bad films do not mean bad actors, Jake for instance. 2016 is quite far in the future so why I do not think its too far off as long as the other comics hero movies take a break if they are smart it would be ok. I only worry that the justice league is kind of cheesy and juvenile.

Viv said...

Immortals and The Cold Light of the Day are pretty lame, but maybe he is a good actor as you said, just in bad movies.

bobbyanna said...

I remember noticing Henry Cavill in The Tudors, I think. He seems like a pretty decent actor. But I get a little knot in my gut when talk turns to franchises.

I know I would definitely not want to see Jake work with Zack Sneider. (Watchmen). He's an FXs director not an actor's director.

I don't believe having a franchise is absolutely necessary to be successful. It really depends on the franchise and a strong director's vision, like Nolan.

I can't help but remember Jake would be 36 in four years and Christian Bale was 30 when he started.

I'm not even close to being ready for a new Batman frnachise, no matter who would do it. There are top tier actors who've done well without franchises.

Anonymous said...

"can't help but remember Jake would be 36 in four years and Christian Bale was 30 when he started"

One reply to that Robert Downey jr. And the movie would debut in 2016 not film in 2016.

bobbyanna said...

Yes, Robert Downey Jr. is an big exception, but that doesn't dispel my own reservations, or change my opinion. The right franchise might be a great move, but I have yet to read about one that seems like a good fit. IMO.

I do wonder how Bourne Legacy would have turned out with Jake in the lead. But I really don't want to see him jump right into some costumed fantasy thing right now.

He's generating a lot of good will right now, and great reviews, and I'm happy for him. He seems to be guided by good scripts a good directors.

UltraViolet said...

Don't know what to think of the Batman thing. I hate to see Jake's name floated and then have him not get it and then it becomes part of that lore.

Also, I don't care at all about Batman and the JL thing sounds cheesy. Isn't it like a second rate Avengers? And that had no appeal to me.

OTOH, a successful franchise would be nice. Just not sure if this should be it.

UltraViolet said...

The director would definitely make all the difference.

UltraViolet said...

Oh and the script!

Notice that this news was not posted on other sites.

If Jake will try a franchise in the future, I hope he looks for quality (screenplay, director) and not for oh, this is from the producer x, then it will be a success and I will become a star and ...

Oh, MonaLisa, I'm so sorry you didn't get to see Jake at the stage door. I hope you enjoyed the play, at least! I'm glad for everyone that gets a chance to see him onstage.

Hagen said...

According to the German synopsis of "An Enemy" Anthony (the actor) lives with his ex-wife. Interesting difference to the book that might explain Jake's take on the movie.

The Italian poster of EoW is basically the same as the American one, just with "Zero Tolerance".

Chica said...

Luv the subway photo, I can so relate Jake!

Sorry you didn't get to se Jake after the play likemonalisa:(

I really like the first EOW poster , very abstract.

Another Jake superhero movie rumor, and it's too soon for a Batman reboot as already stated.

If Jake decides to do a franchise, I hope that it's original although that is rare in HW.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Mary, after POP I don't think Jake wants to get involved in another blockbuster movie/franchise situation. It looks to me he likes doing more independent/smaller budget movies.

Lily

Hagen said...

Interesting article about editor Dody Dorn's work on "End of Watch" (Heavy Editing on ‘End of Watch’). EoW has grossed $ 1.18 million on Friday (weekend projection: $3.9 million, -50 percent). "Taken 2" opens extremly strong ($50 million).

Those box office projections based on Friday data are pretty reliable unlike the early weekend estimates by Deadline.

From PopSugar:

Quiet Upper East Side Italian eatery Elio's was the place to be in New York on Friday night. The reason? That's where Gwyneth Paltrow feted her 40th birthday, with a little help from some very famous friends.

Around 7:15 p.m., an eyewitness tells Us Weekly guests like Steven Spielberg, Kate Capshaw and Gwyneth's mom, Blythe Danner, started showing up. The birthday girl -- clad in a chic black blouse with white trim, arrived a half-hour later, followed by Jessica Seinfeld, Chelsea Handler and Kristen

Ethan Hawke pulled up around half past 8, while Paltrow's BFF Beyonce arrived fashionably late at 9:30. Also in attendance? Jake Gyllenhaal, Christy Turlington, The Beastie Boys' Mike D, Cameron Diaz and Gwyneth's hubby Chris Martin.

Thumbs down to the Jake/Batman rumors :( I'm also tired of his name being attached to every comic book movie or it seems.

Ha, ha! Love that subway/train photo of Jake, he looks so at home!

Looking forward to seeing how EOW fares this weekend at the BO.

Scott said...

I think there are too many big films yet to come and a couple of independent darlings who have been touted to be Oscar bound. I think EOW will be forgotten but Michael has a strong chance at supporting if that's how he is seen althugh Jake and he are true co-stars. The actor field is packed with past nominees, winners or should have been winners. Russell Crowe lost out to Denzel Washington for political reasons and then's there Lincoln and God help us, Brad Cooper might get a nod for Silver Linings. (although I think it was loudsy the way he was treated during the sexiest man alive win, he deserves some kudos for the way he handled that one).

Tibid, Interesting Anne will be campaigned as a supporting actress in Les Mis. I just don't think Jake has a prayer for an acting nod or Michael if he does not go supporting.

Scott said...

"Thumbs down to the Jake/Batman rumors :( I'm also tired of his name being attached to every comic book movie or it seems"

I'm sure Jake gets kick out of it and its flattering. Everyone is always saying lately how Jake is so intense and not as "light" as he used to be and I disagree on that one. Its better than Shades of Grey by a long shot,.

bobbyanna said...

It's great to see Ann Thompson tweeting about Oscars noms for Jake & Michael! I think they might get some GG & SAG love. Anything is possible. Even with the names currently bandied about, I think there is a possibility Jake and Michael might get a awards season love. The fact that people are still talking about it and raving about it is a very good sign. It's still doing well at the BO, too.

I know DDL, Russell Crowe, and Hugh Jackman, PSH, and Joaquin Phoenix might generate some buzz and so might Brad Pitt, Sam Rockwell, or Frank Langella and Christopher Walken for his role as a classical musician with PArkinsons. But I see no one out here who's a slam dunk. (Clooney and Leo aren't involved this year, so that helps. : ))

You know, Denzel Washington's been nominated for Academy Awards at least four times that I can think of, and for Golden Globes that number of times,or more, and he's won one well-deserved BSA and one well-deserved BA, and I can't think of a single nomination or actual awards that was given to him "for political reasons." I can think of a couple of Oscars I think he should've won that he was overlooked for.

Scott said...

"and I can't think of a single nomination or actual awards that was given to him "for political reasons." "

Russel Crowe that year was the front runner unti he said or did something stupid, that's all I meant Bobbyana. It's diffcult for me coming to this board because you always seem so damn combative and defensive all at once.

Hagen said...

I guess the film studio will play it safe and pick one of Nolan's supporting actors, Tom Hardy or Jospeph Gordon-Levitt, to star in the next Batman movie.

Weekend estimate for EoW by Open Road: $4.000.000 (-49 percent)

Hagen said...

Correct link to the weekend estimates

bobbyanna said...

Well, Scott, when you say, "political reasons," implicit is the impression someone got something they didn't deserve because of some special circumstances. it helps to be clear about what you mean. I recall Russell Crowe behaving badly, but I don't view Denzel as the "default winner" because of that.

bobbyanna said...

Yaaay! Thanks, Hagen! EoW still in top 3.

What you say about Batman makes sense. JGL would be the logical successor. I got the feeling they were setting it up that way, but not necessarily for a sequel, as much as some kind of "spin-off."

Mary said...

Yay too EOW still number 3

Hagen said...

Bobbyanna, EoW is #6 this weekend (Box office data for "Hotel Transsylvania", "Pitch Perfect" and "Looper" are still missing.) The chart position is fine, unfortunately a drop by 49 percent isn't that good.

Viv said...

I don't want Jake to play Batman, but JGL as batman??LOL
OK...JGL is hyped by many people these days so I can understand why some people will want him to play batman. CGI can make anything possible.

By the way,it's pity EOW can't gross over 33 million this weekend, but still a fine number.:)

bobbyanna said...

Oh. : )

bobbyanna said...

Viv, I didn't mean JGL as Batman, but more of a possilbe spin off into a different franchise based on his character in Batman. Just speculating.

Anonymous said...

It's good Hagen, because the film has almost 400 theaters less this week, and almost 700 less than TWC, that have earned less than EOW, I think that it is a very good result.

Viv said...

I see.:)

Maybe The Rise of Robin is a good idea.

Hagen said...

It's good Hagen, because the film has almost 400 theaters less this week, and almost 700 less than TWC, that have earned less than EOW, I think that it is a very good result.

I agree, that it's a good result compared to "House at the End of the Street" and "Trouble with the Curve". I thought "Trouble" would have stronger legs than EoW. But the huge opening of "Taken 2" had a considerable negative effect on EoW.

Hagen said...

We haven't mentioned yet that there are 100 'fresh' reviews of EoW on Rotten Tomatoes. :) Next week we'll see how British critics regard EoW.

Anonymous said...

I think it's a good result for a 7 million budget indie movie Rating: R, out with only 2370 theaters :)

Hagen said...

I think it's a good result for a 7 million budget indie movie Rating: R, out with only 2370 theaters :)

That's a valid point. We're just a bit spoiled by the surprisingly strong start of EoW at the box office. :)

End Of Watch
We see not one, but two awards-worthy performances in End of Watch.

By Sam Faulkner / Rating: 4.5/5

The real driving forces of End of Watch are the characters. Taylor and Zavala are fully fleshed out creations, with Gyllenhaal and Peña inhabiting them with an almost uncanny naturalism that makes you feel almost as though the viewer is cruising with them in the patrol car, each back-and-forth between them feeling organic and genuinely funny. The charm of the film is that the two actors take characters that in the wrong hands could have been reduced to two-dimensional Bad Boys clones, and make us truly believe that these two are firm friends, whether that entails larking about in the precinct, getting ranted at by an angry superior or dashing into a burning building to play the hero.
The two leads really do shine here, working off each other so perfectly that it is no exaggeration to say that we see not one, but two awards-worthy performances in End of Watch.

A needless technical approach does threaten to undermine End of Watch then, but as the two leads begin to take over, the dynamic performances of Peña and Gyllenhaal provide a gateway to a truly intense, engrossing world, with a story that is driven by character. A compelling thriller with much to admire, End of Watch comes highly recommended.
