Blame It on the first LAX photos of the 2010s

It's the start of a new work week (ugh) and decade, and we have new Jake Gyllenhaal photos to help us get started. Looks like Jake is back in Los Angeles:

Looking back on 2009 for a moment, a couple of nice still shots of Jake from the making of Jamie Foxx's "Blame It on the Alcohol" video. (Updated with bigger and better pics, from IHJ.)

And looking forward, is it possible Nailed could actually see the light of day this year?

After the notoriously difficult shoot of I Heart Huckabees resulted in screwball comic triumph, David O. Russell was deep in purgatory. Nailed—a D.C. satire—was set to bring him roaring back, but production shut down after Capitol Films imploded financially with the film nowhere close to done. Jessica Biel claimed there wasn’t enough footage to bring it together in post, but now the money’s been raised and the movie’s allegedly on track for the 2010 Cannes market. Meanwhile, Russell managed to shoot a whole other movie—The Fighter, a boxing movie starring the perfectly cast Mark Wahlberg—that’s also on track for release soon. Assuming the currently all-shook-up indie market can get its act together and buy/distribute the movies quickly, 2010 should give us not one but two Russell movies—even as the man himself prepares to do Pride And Prejudice And Zombies.

Thanks to Kendra/Jake Weird for finding the Nailed news!

Stephanie just posted this new PoP behind-the-scenes video, from the Disney Channel:

A few new bits, including these shots:

Love the "class photo" feel. Hee.

Get ready for a "sandy" epic!

He looks good but tired. I wonder why he needed a police escort?

What great news regarding Nailed, fingers crossed!

I know some people didn't care for the Blame it video for various reasons but I loved it!

I'm still thinking that he urgently needs a personal stylist!

Jake has to be very friendly with Jamie Foxx to take part in a clip where the best thing is the guy dressed as a panda!

Updated the post with a new PoP BTS video, as well as bigger pics from the Blame It video. Thanks, Stephanie!

The paps always hang around airports waiting for anyone famous to de-plane, especially at the end of a long holiday. The gossip blogs have so many pictures of celebs, you'd think half of Hollywood was in St Barth's!

Now there's more airport security and tighter rules, the police and security guards can be a lot tougher with photographers harrassing and swarming people. So there's some good to come out of it.:)

OT: Thank you Jake, for the birthday present!:)& congrats to Matthew McConnaughey and Camilla Alves on the birth of their daughter, Vida, on Jan.3rd!

Weren't they at Cannes last year trying to get Nailed financed/distributed?

bobbyanna said...

Oops! Thanks for the video!

Just because they're taking it to Cannes doesn't mean that anyone will buy it.

David Bergstein is very desperate right now and the only film he owns still (having lost the rights to all his other films) is Nailed.

It might get a DVD release or something, but I think Nailed is more interesting for the turmoil than the story.

Totally superfluous: but is that the same brown jacket Jake wore on Kimmel? It's just that it's kind of unusual, the colour and that it looks kinda like velvet or something.

Also superfluous: do most men go from clean-shaven to full beard in less than a month, or is Jake just follically-gifted? ;) :D

Lainey Gossip is stirring up the "reconciliation" pot again today.

UltraViolet said...

Jake is definitely gifted folically. And that does look like the Jimmy Kimmel/press conference jacket. Obviously it's made it into Jake's fashion CZ.

Stephanie posted a funny, albeit very brief, clip of Jake from a show called Hollywood and Dine. It's from the Rendition junket, and jake is attempting to explain how he made meatballs. It's amusing.

Last picture I saw was taken on December 16th,and he had stubble. So if he hasn't shaved since, um...he'd have more.
Maybe it's the same jacket. If he wore winter clothes in NYC bcz it's cold there, and he's going to LA, where it's not as cold, than um,...he'd wear something for the LA weather.

Extra said...

How about he wore a winter coat in NY and has it in one of his bags, you don't expect for him to wear it during his flight???And I assume since he has been away for a bit that he has more than that overhead bag/nap sack and that he has at least 1 bag to check.

Jake is a chia pet, most fans know that already! He looks so sleepy, poor baby!!!

I hope that Nailed isn't headed straight to DVD, I would love to see that on the big screen.

Thanks for the behind the scenes video of Pop from Disney!!!!

Belated, but heartfelt, happy birthday, Bobbyanna!! So sorry I missed your actual day.

Jake's jacket. Isn't the Kimmel suit brown and the press conference suit navy blue?

UltraViolet said...

The NYC press conference jacket was blue. This is the jacket he wore on Kimmel and to the Variety screening and to the LA press conference. And even the VGAs, right?

He really likes that jacket!

Looking good but a bit jetlagged Jake!

I do hope Nailed gets picked up for distribution, it sounds like a funny, dsrk comedy.

Take care of yourself Mary.

How do you know that Jake was called for Jury duty today?

mary said...

i meant i had jury duty not jake sorry if i made it sound like its was jake:)

Oh, ok!!

Erehwon spells "nowhere" backwards! There's a movement to promote community supported agriculture(CSA) where people buy locally grown stuff,&I think this store's part of it. I just read about one in Illinois. Everyone runs to the store when they get back in town!Jake's re-stocking his larder! LOL!

Thank you,FL! I mentioned Vida McConnaughey, bcz I wanted to share my b'day with someone besides Mel Gibson!:)

I like that brown jacket. He wears it well. The scarf looks new. Maybe a birthday/hannukah/Christmas gift?

Best Performance in a Mediocre Film: Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia)

I think the scarf has been around for a while. :-)

Anonymous said...

I don't know how to take that award Monica. Does it mean Brothers was mediocre but that Jake gave the best performance or are they just trying to trash the film?

Monica said...

They are saying that Jake was the best thing that film. In their opinion the movie is bad, but Jake is great.

UltraViolet said...

I think it's a compliment to Jake and Meryl and a dis of their movies, anon.

This is sweet: Doug Liman made the PoP behind-the-scenes featurette his video pick on his blog.

Mary, how nice that someone brought you tea. Jury duty rarely involves human kindness!

mary said...

yes i thought that was very nice of her

Does Jake return to the university?

UltraViolet said...

Leonor, it seems like they just took an old quote of Jake's and created a new story out of it. There's no source for the quote. And you notice how it turned from him wanting to go back to school to "quitting acting" to do it. Very dubious.

BTW, IHJ has more pics of Jake at LAX.

I bet Jake is glad he is back home, he looks a bit tired and it looks like he has found another item that he feels compfy in: the jacket!

I do agree that Jake gave the best performance in Brothers but no way was it mediocre and neither was Julie & Julia.

The b&w still from the blame it video looks really cool and that Pop pic does have a HS class reunion to it,!

I agree UV. Thanks

Yes it is a great year for Sci-fi Monica although I don't get the love for distrct 9, it wasn't all that.

That jacket Jake is wearing looks so warm and snuggly, I hope he enjoyed his holidays.

This is more interesting:

Top 50 Performances of the Decade (Male:

Heath Ledger, Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight (2008)
Jake Gyllenhaal, Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Peter Sarsgaard, Shattered Glass (2003

If they are saying "of the decade" they have to include Donnie Darko, because it was a great performance, and it's a total cult classic.

Shondra said...

I had the same expression on my face in pic #2 when I had to return to work! He still looks yummy...

Thanks for that list Monica, and I would add Donnie Darko as well.

Great. But I agree, Jake's Donnie Darko should be on the list too.

JF said...

Great news about Nailed. 2010 will be Jake's year with 3 movies coming out. :)

bobbyanna said...

I absolutely agree about Jake, but I also think I'd add Leonardo De Caprio in Revolutionary Road which I thought was just wrenching.

JF said...

Talking about Leo DiCap I'm actually really looking forward to Shutter Island. Scorsese didn't disappoint in the past, I hope he won't with SI either.

UltraViolet said...

Hi JF - it would be great if Nailed actually makes it out. As for Shutter Island, I'm skeptical, but we'll see. I'd love to see Jake make a movie with Scorcese.

Never saw Revolutionary Road, Bobbyanna. But I think Jake in Jarhead should also be on the list.

Please continue this discussion in the new post :)
