A New Day

Here's to change, to progress and to this new day!

This is a big day for the U.S. and for the whole world.

Good luck to the new president and the new administration!

This is how I feel - overjoyed to be out of the fog and into the light.

There are a few Obamacized Jake images at
this site. You can upload your own photo and caption. There are a lot of clever takes. Check them out - it's fun.

Good morning UV, and yes it is a new day!

Love the image of Jake you posted and love the post! You and I are not the only ones that took the day off today, I wouldn't be able to concetrate at work.

I will be checking here during the day, I will be back and forth at my community center helping setting up and celebrating, back later!!!

I'm hoping the BBC site will have live coverage, if by some fluke they don't, anyone recommend me a good US based news site I could watch it from?

Good morning, babblers!

Good post. The image of Jake is great!
I wish a great day for all babblers!

Morning, Monica! And good day to you, too :)

Agent K, this article lists a bunch of places that will be streaming the inauguration. Unbelievably, it doesn't include the links. But they are easy to find.

Chica, good luck setting up. You're good to volunteer.

Morning! I'm working from home today, too..... no way would I be able to get anything done if I went in to the office today.

I'm fully expecting to cry tears of joy at some point..... I still am amazed that we really did the right thing, and elected this man who can lead us out of the darkness of the past 8 years. I know it's going to be a long and difficult path, but I have hope!

I had to go to work today but I doubt that I will get anywork done!

I can't believe we finally did the right thing too suvee, I'm so proud and hopeful right now.

I really think that Obama is the right President for this time, he has a tough road ahhead but I think he is the one that can truly bring this nation together.

I am just bursting with happiness and excitement!!

I know that there are hard realities and Obama is human and will need help after this day of celebration but I feel a real hope. :)

He is our President!

Morning UV, Fl and babblers everywhere.
What a wonderful start to our new government and yes, this is a new day.
I doubt I'll be able to do anything productive today with my eyes, mind and heart in Washington, D.C.
hugs to all,
sass

What an exciting day - many of our german TV stations will report live from Washington so I will be able to watch when I am home from work.

Most people in Europe are relieved and excited - the next years will be hard work but hopefully with a new communal spirit.

Thanks for the link, Monica.

Fincher Celebration

"David Fincher has been named guest director. On Jan. 30, the festival will present "A Celebration of David Fincher," at which the director of "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" will be joined by a number of his friends."

In a shallow moment - I do like Michelle's outfit

Dear god that crowd!

Anonymous said...

On a lighter note (!) I had a good laugh watching The President put Bush on that helicopter!!!!!!!!!! GOOD BYE!!!!!!!!!

FL said...

Shallow moment #2 - I wonder what the designer lined Michelle's jacket with. I was thinking maybe cashmere.

Bobbyanna, I bet nobody is more happy to be out of D.C. and out of that job that Dubya himself! HA! We all had a laugh here imagining him waving goodbye from the window of Air Chopper One saying "See ya later, suckahs!"

Anonymous said...

I loved Michelle's outfit too, especially the gloves - beautiful in peridot. And the girls looked beautful! :)

Anonymous said...

Checking in here while I got a chance. My community event is from 10-2 and it was a brunch/celebration so we are not quite done yet!! What an incredible sppech he gave, so full of hope and on a shallow side Michelle looked fab!

FL said...

the coat and dress were made of Swiss wool lace, backed with netting for warmth and lined in French silk.

Mmmm that sounds lovely. I hope it was warm.

it was so wonderful and inspiring!

Eek, that news about Ted Kennedy put a damper on things, but man, what a great day otherwise. I also really like Michelle's outfit. But she must be coooold.

My niece is somewhere in this parade crowd, at least up at the front at her little spot. I hope she doesn't get crushed.

{{{Sass}}} good to see you.

FL, I'm sure you're right, and W is more then happy to leave town and let everyone else clean up the mess. But he cannot possibly be happier then so many of us are to see him go.

I was distressed about Senator Kennedy. But the reports now are that he is alert, in good spirits and ready to go back to work.

What a beautiful family!!! Even the weather cooperated.

What a happy day for the nation and the world! Obama's speech struck the perfect tone, both somber, serious and hopeful.

I am so happy right now!!
Distressful news about Sen. Kennedy but the re reports say that he will be released tomorrow.

Seizures are common when people who have brain surgery. He probably over did it and got over excited. Glad to hear he is doing OK.

"Our long national nightmare is over".

From Gerald Ford after Nixon resigned. These word are fitting today. Obama has a tough road but the American public will give him time to help heal this nation.

What a joyous occassion and a proud moment in our history, i am truly proud of our country today.

Love the post UV and the pic of Jake!!

I'm melting. I know. Corny. But I just saw our new President and First Lady take their first dance.

OY.

ABC is broadcasting the Neighborhood Ball.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the heads up bobbyanna, I was getting pissed that c-span, cnn and msnbc cut away when they started dancing.

Wha a beautiful couple, Stevie is on!!!

FL said...

Etta James wasn't available? Pfft.

Anonymous said...

I guess the networks will go to "Ball coverage" at 10 PM DST, but the Neighborhood Ball came on first (8PM) with Denzel introducing The President. Since then, they've made another appearance at the Hawaii/Illinois ball. That's two down and about 9 more to go(!).

In addition to Stevie Wonder, Sting, Maroon 5 Shakira, Mariah, Beyonce, Will i. am. Mary J. Blige Alicia Keyes, were all on the program.

Another event (no President) was featured on ET earlier. I saw Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, Dustin Hoffman and some others on the news. I'm pretty sure Jake is not anywhere near Washington.

Just want to give a shout out to Aretha. Loved that hat.

NBC has some coverage of the Creative Coalition event.

So, there I was, watching the President elect stride down the corridor to get sworn in, he went through the double doors, hugged someone in the crowd, made his way to the podium and..... all hell let loose in my office due to the insanity of one of my clients and I missed the entire bloody thing!

New pictures of Jake, leaving that popular hangout, the Medical Building.

I saw a silly item in Star about how Jake wishes Reese would let the housekeeper do the laundry, because she washed a bunch of his shirts and they ran. She bought replacements at Saks and tried to fool Jake, but we all know the man knows his shirts.

I'm choosing to believe that inane story, because it explains the shirt he's wearing in these photos. Well, if the colors and in neat squares.

It could happen!
