Good morning everyone - looks like I am the first here this morning.
Thanks for the fast "service" UV- I enjoy the pictures and I am so happy to see Jake supporting Maggie and Peter.
I have to say that I like Jakes cap, someone said elsewhere he looks "irish" - and for those who are "whining" - please have a look at F. Murray Abrahams hat or whatever you want to call that thing....:-)))
Peter looks like he is going to a funeral and as much as I like the free-spirited Maggie this look is really not too flattering. And I hope the clothes they are wearing are those from the play...:-))
Although the critics are mixed I always respect actors trying to broaden their experience. It would be great to see Jake working on stage on day.
Thanks UV and Stephanie for posting the pics so fast!!
Great to see Jake there to support his sister and Peter, Maggie really looks like her mom here and Peter has caught the fedora bug!
If Jake decides to keep wearing hats than this suits him, if he decides to go the fedora route again, one with a wider brim looks best He looks great here.
Mixed reviews aside I think it's great wen actors do theater, hope Jake does one real soon.
What wonderful pictures to wake up too! They all look so happy and Jake looks like one proud brother!
Looks like Peter has picked up hat habit, hee. I agree OONP, Maggie does look like her Mom here and Maime looks like Meryl!
I decided not to stop by the theater last night, too stalkerish and besides I knew if he was there for the opening there would be a ton of pics the next day!
These are great, happy pictures, UV. Thanks to you and Stephanie for posting them. They all look so Bohemian! The woman in the red scarf with dark hair looks familiar.
Hey I just remembered, wasn't Jamie Foxx's video with Jake supposed to come out this week? I haven't seen it yet.
Confessions of a Shopaholic is out today and is getting crap reviews. Some are saying that it's the wrong movie in this economy. I know we get to see a peek at Jake's Pop poster in this flick but I hope it shows up online somewhere, I have no desire to spend $$ to see this.
Wow! Just went over to WENN to look at more pictures. Clare Danes, Mandy Patinkin, and Olympia Dukakis, were there along with F.Murray. He looks like he's wearing an old(!) Cossack hat. Meryl's older daughter was out to support her sister. Seems like the theater community was out to support one another.
Oops, Bobbyanna - didn't see your reply. Yes, there are pics of those folks at the link I just posted. (That site, Theater Mania, gave the play a rave, btw.)
Get real, it's a shame you didn't get to go over there. I was hoping an intrepid Gyllenhaalic would have made the trek!
Thanks for the link, UV. That's a cool site. So Zorich is Olympia Dukakis' husband. I love her. Moonstruck is my favorite Valentine's Day movie. I think she is wonderful in it! Meryl Streep's older daughter looks just like her.
Just thought of something. OT: If you're interested, there's a really fascinating history of New York theater, really, about modern American theater, in a book called,
Joe Papp: An American Life" by Helen Epstein. It tells the history of The Public Theater, and the evolution of the Shakespeare Festival, and all the hard fought political battles to get public support for the arts along the way.
Joseph Papp launched Meryl Streep, Al Pacino, Kevin Kline, Denzel Washington, etc., and some pretty amazing modern playwrights. To this day, every time, A Chorus Line is performed, The Public Theater gets royalties to continue it's other programs. Joe Papp's story really captures a particular aspect of NYC's life that I just love.
LUI ? Che dire...è di un bello da togliere il fiato....però non sà proprio vestire ! E quelle scarpe...sempre le solite scarpe !! Non sarà che più si è ricchi e famosi e più si è tirchi ? Un bacio.-
Thanks for the pics and the links, Jake is sure loving that cap at the moment, I prefer to see his beautiful head of hair. They all look so happy, glad that Jake was there to share the evening with Maggie and Peter.
A agree woth you gabanna, I usually like Maggie's style, but not here, it makes her look a lot older than she is.
F. Murray Abraham looks like a Russian cossack in that hat at that link/picture!
You are not wandering bobbyanna, I love reading your comments! I love the theater and Joe Papp story and his connection to NY theater is fascinating and like you pointed put launched so many careers.
Ma no, non credo proprio sia un tirchio!E' un ragazzo normalissimo che si è affezionato alle sue scarpe perchè sono comode. Maybe he just has confortable shoes...and he like to dress it!
OK, you guys! LOLOL!!! As a third generation Italian/American, I am not keepin' up with this. So Rosa, are you saying you think with all his money, a guy in his position should dress better for an opening night at the theater? Wear better shoes, or is it the hat? I think the hat is part of the discussion? Si? You aren't feelin' the hat? I don't know exactly what you're sayin' but I love you! :) This is why I love Gyllenbabble, actually.
I saw B de Susane Bier. It increased my expectation for seeing to Jake as Jannik!!! I remembered the drill that Jake bought, Jannik uses it on having arranged the kitchen... :)
Jim Sheridan directs the US remake of Susanne Bier's powerful 2004 drama, with Jake Gyllenhaal playing a feckless man drawn to his sister-in-law (Natalie Portman) after his older brother (Tobey Maguire) goes missing in Afghanistan.
Thanks for the link monica! It looks like Brothers is opening in Ireland in Sept. I think I heard/read that it will open in Aug. in the US, fingers crossed.
Jaske and Maggie looks so happy, lok at those smiles! I read some of the reviews, yes they were mixed but I bet Peter and Maggie are enjoying working together on stage.
This would have been my dad's 97th B'day! He was born the year TItanic sank. LOL!
If I was in NYC today, I would wander over to SoHo and go to Jacques Torres' Chocolate place and have a Wicked Hot Chocolate and a Chocolate croissant. OY!
To keep this relevant, I watched Penelope last night for the first time and there was The Butler...named Jake...with his special red tennis shoes...and other "powers"! :)
(OT:I hate it when newscasters talk about "bi-partisan" as if it's a one way street. They lost. Hard to believe our President has only been in office LESS then a month. YAY! OK. I'm done.)
Sounds like they are going according to that article. I'm not familiar with the telegraph and the may be just pimping the travel agency like thereal estate agency but who knows?
I do know that Reese hasn't been papped since last Saturday with Jake and friends and Jake has been in Ny all week, well at least until Thursday
Tis is what i'm thinking: that flat leasing story was legit and she has been in London, Jake left NY and flew to London and he is there with Reese ready for a vacatio in Egypt!!
But then what about the kids? Would the kids be with their father? Or would they want to go to Egypt, too? It's quite an adventure. I'm not sure I believe this. Maybe it is t rue,but maybe it will be later on. Don't know what to make of it. One thing.
I hate to even say this, but that sounds more like a honeymoon than a simple vacation. In any case, if it's true, I'm jealous. Always wanted to go to Egypt. And in such style! A tad surprising that someone would speak so openly, but hey - thanks for the tidbit, Mr. Kent!
Jake, Jake/Reese and Jack/Ennis have been making a lot of lists the past week.
Wow, a romantic getaway to Egypt, huh? And yes. the Telegraph story does make it sound rather like a honeymoon. :) (Maybe the kids will spend spring break with their dad this year?)
I'm picturing something like Death on the Nile. Well, without the murder of course!
Then there's the blink-and-you'll-miss-it outdoor advertising shot of Bruckheimer's upcoming epic production "Prince of Persia" on a billboard in Times Square. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but halfway through the film this billboard can be spotted as a reflection on the window of the cab Rebecca is riding in. This cab's windows must be made of special glass because the billboard's image isn't seen reversed like any normal reflection and it's easy to read what it says. That's not just obvious product placement, that's plain tacky!
Sounds honeymoon-ish to me, too. I remember that Ryan went to Australia for two weeks around Christmas time with Abbie, and Reese took the kids to Cabo on the last Spring break, it sounds about right that they'd spend this Spring break with dad, and that Jake and Reese would take an extended "vacation."
Wonder how many people will be in the party. Egypt is top of my list of places to go.
Rats! Mr. Kent didn't say when. No matter. I have two specific wonderful hats. (They were designed by Mr. Song...he did Aretha's.:)
BTW: In Sweet Home Alabama, Josh Lucas, Reese's "husband" is named Jake! So Reese has been including Jake references in her movies.
So basically it sounds like the only good thing about that movie is the "tacky" product placement of Jake-as-Dastan on a huge billboard. Yay! I'm glad the reviewer didn't blink at that tacky moment. Can never accuse Mr. Bruckheimer of being subtle.
IMDB: ...I had no idea that the poster was going to appear in the movie. the shot of the poster went by really fast. the camera view was at an angle from the bottom left of the poster. i didnt really see much except for the title "Sands of Time"...and a glimpse of the prince...i was dozing off. lol
More details Unless I was dreaming it, which is possible, lol. It had a full image of the "Prince" at a running stance, coming toward you, with his sword.
A line of LEGO System construction toys based on Walt Disney Pictures' and Jerry Bruckheimer Films' Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, directed by Mike Newell and scheduled to release in May 2010 is also in development. Prince of Persia-themed LEGO products are scheduled to launch in April 2010
My favorite photo from the Uncle Vanya after party is the one with Mamie...... Jake just looks so good, plus you can see the faint freckles on his nose. :)
It occurs to me that the 2 of them really should work together sometime. I've only seen her in Evening, but she impressed me in that.
Interesting Q&A with J. Bruckheimer and the Boson Globe. No mention of Pop but he is asked about Shopaholic, the Pirates franchise, etc:
Q. How do you think the current economic situation is going to affect Hollywood generally?
A. All the companies are laying off employees. There will be fewer deals. Budgets will be tighter. It will shrink the business, I'm sure. That's not necessarily a bad thing. When you look back on some of these weekends when you have five, six movies opening the same day, they cannibalize each other. So with fewer films it's better for all concerned. Even the consumer - it's easier to decide what to see.
A regular poster at the LA Times GoldDerby Forum, who I believe works in the industry (he always has lots of "inside" information), mentioned Nailed today. He was responding to someone questioning how in the world Jessica Biel was picked to present the SciTech Oscars. One of his reasons was that she is in the new David O. Russell movie, starring Jake Gyllenhaal & Catherine Keener, coming out this year.
This guy might not know anymore than the rest of us, but his reference did encourage me.

Added a few more, of the tagged variety. Jake has his jacket off in one, but the hat stays on.
I'd love to see Jake so a play, too, gabbana. I think he will someday.
And yes, FMAbraham looked ridiculous. Maybe he was coming from another production?!
And thanks to Stephanie's amazing speed, the ugly tagged photos are all gone. Thanks, Stephanie!
Also, I think this is recycled, but Jake is on top of People's Valentine's Day list of best boyfriends.
Thanks UV and Stephanie for posting the pics so fast!!

I had wanted to stop by the theatre but another event got in the way. :(
At least these great pics make me happy!
Love Mamie Gummer (Meryl Streep's daughter!) too. Great pic of her and Jake.
Today's pictures will be Jake or Reese at an airport. :)
I like Jake better in a basball cap. He looks wierd.
Hello,babblers!
It is great to see Jake, Maggie and Peter together!
Glad to see Maggie and Peter doing a challenging job.
thank's, UV and Steph!
If you'd like to see some of the other folks in attendance last night, here are some pictures.
I would love to have seen a picture of Jake with Claire Danes!

I like the hip length coat on Jake.
And I think it was sweet of him to be photographed with Mamie Gummer, I'm sure she appreciated it. I know I would!
For Valentines Day I want more pictures like Jake's birthday dinner- Jake giving Reese the sexy intense gazes.
That's not too much to ask,is it? :)
I like the hips under the coat!
Has anyone seen the PoP poster yet?.
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!!
:):):)
Brazil does not commemorate Valentine's Day today!
Celebrated on June 12!
Happy Valentine's day!!!
I like this look on Jake, and now watch he turns up in a fedora.
Happy to see he made his sister and Peter's play opening, it's been awhile since we have seen them all together.
Yeah bobbyanna, it's hard to believe Obama has been in office for a month, it's been quite a roller coaster so far.
Jake and Reese may go to Egypt,

Egypt??? IF this is true, I am sure Reese and Jake are just delighted that Abercrombie & Kent made their plans public. LOL!
Such an elaborate trip...wedding present?
Hmmm. This is the 2nd time in weeks that a rumor regarding J&R has come out of the UK, coincidence???
We will soon find out, I hope!!

I envy a man (or woman) who can travel cross-country for several days with only a backpack. God knows I've tried, but I still can't make that work.
Jake is a light traveler. Bless. Guess that will help when they go on their around-the-ancient-world jaunt!
I'm picturing something like Death on the Nile. Well, without the murder of course!
LOL, suvee. Yes, homicide might spoil the mood.
Only 80/20? Puzzling.
Hee. Yes, Barbara, that does seem too close.

Thanks for the link to the description of the Pop poster in Confessions of a Shopaholic monica!
Seems odd that the recent rumors about J&R are coming from the UK, why would they book a trip there when they could do that in the US?
Don't know how truthful this one is but it sounds exciting and romanti! We will soon find out if tis is true or not.
LEGO Jake? I can't wait! Thanks for the links about jake being the best BF and J&R best kiss!
I'm off today for President's day. Historians have named Lincoln #1 as the best President, hard to argue with that!
It looks like yet another project that Jake is involved with has been pushed back: The Jaime Foxx video!
My wife dragged me to see Confesssions of a Shopaholic over the weekend (It was awful). Saw the Pop poster, if I blinked I would have missed it.
It's in the scene where the main character is i a cab, you can se the poster reflectio in the cab window.
Brief but cool.
Jake does look a bit British with that hat and coat, fits in with the rwcent rumors!
