Trailer park

It's been a busy couple of days in the trailer park. Two different Everest trailers and a second Southpaw trailer premiered.

ETA: A short behind-the-scenes featurette for Everest:

So sit bad, relax and trailerize!

International trailer for Everest:

Domestic Everest trailer:

Southpaw #2: Shorter and less spoilery:

We also got three new posters. The second Everest poster rivals that Zodiac poster for the worst Jake-movie posters.

Southpaw is having some more fun with promotion. You can spar with Billy Hope:

Or you can go a different way:

But remember:

Billy Hope knows how to take a punch, but he also drops bombs. #Southpaw #Boxing #JakeGyllenhaal #Film

Do you know that song?

The Wrap ranks the year's Top 10 trailer songs, and Nightcrawler lands at number two with "Faith in Love" by CSS:

“Nightcrawler” has a darkness to it. The trailer emits a sense that we're going on a journey of transformation. There are layers to the song, which has an epic feel that somehow befits Dan Gilroy's indie movie, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a crime scene photographer. It would've been real easy to overlook the music in this trailer but The Wrap prides itself on finding the diamonds in the rough — and this song is a jagged gem. But don't take our word for it…

“As a film, ’Nightcrawler' is bold, off-centered and unique. The tricky part was finding a trailer song with similar attributes. Working closely with the ‘Nightcrawler’ filmmakers, we took that direction to Buddha Jones’ music supervisor Pete Hasty. He brought us several options and we all chose ‘Faith in Love’ from CSS. Everyone agrees that it captures the free-wheeling, brash intensity of the movie and it's also a great anthem for Jake's character, Louis Bloom. On top of that, we love the driving energy that it infuses in the trailer,” said Jason Cassidy, president of marketing at Open Road.

What other Jake movies have had memorable songs? Jarhead, of course. I forgot it opens with "Don't Worry." It's more famous, of course, for Kanye's "Jesus Walks:"

Moonlight Mile starts out with David Gray and "The Light" and then uses Elton John's "Someone Saved My Life Tonight:"

Of course the movie takes its name from the Rolling Stones song that plays over this behind-the-scenes video of the making of the movie:

Jake is so young!

Brothers features "Never Say Never" by The Fray and "Bad," one of my favorite U2 songs:

Like Nightcrawler, End of Watch's trailer song wasn't well known. It's called "In the City," by Kevin Rudolf:

What's your favorite trailer song or trailer, for Jake movies or in general?

The long tease

There's been a mountain of Jake news today. First off, a longer, but still too short, red band teaser trailer for Enemy. Warning that the trailer reveals some things better left unseen before your first viewing:

Take a look at the women of Enemy here.

And the man:

From a new cover story in Man of the World magazine:

"It's taken me a long time in my career to realize that you can't be good at everything. You sometimes have to give something up. There are limits," the 33-year-old movie star says. "I do care about the stories people want to tell. But then I want to get back to my honest self for the directors I work with."

"It was just a shot in the dark—it was all about the relationship I had with Denis. For me, that's what movies are all about," he says. "Acting is a very strange job, as well as an amazing one, because it requires great trust. Your relationship with a director is very sacred, a sensitive space. I just can't do it with everyone. And that's what I have discovered about myself."

"The movie business is largely just stuffing actors in this place, and this place and this place," he says, noting that he typically takes time off to regroup between projects. "But it's time in your life that you can't have back."

"I was at a point in my life where I was struggling with the idea of reconciling parts of yourself—that we can exist just as one person," he says of the mystery movie. "Perceptions of who we are are never deadly accurate. I think we all come across as different people to different people in our lives."

"It's all about a level of commitment—how far will you go for a director you believe in? How far will you go for a story you believe in? I've always worked as hard as I can on everything I've done. But now I feel like I'm listening to myself and realizing that we have a finite amount of time, and how you spend it is really important."

We'll see how far Jake is willing to go for Baltasar Kormakur, seen here on set in Rome.

Love and Other Trailer Drugs

Updated to include our first shot of Jake on his motorcycle. He had lunch with his father and rode his bike to the restaurant.

We've gotten a second trailer for Love and Other Drugs. A trailer a week sounds like a good plan - this can be our new drug:

The new trailer reveals a more of the movie's more dramatic themes. And it shows Jake Gyllenhaal's character in serious ladies' man mode:

Nice to see Fox getting its LaOD act together. Now we need a poster, some official stills and a few festival dates!

Trailer Time

Updated with a couple of scans from this week's Entertainment Weekly.

Now with actual trailer. Enjoy.

Until we get the actual trailer to pore over, can we just take a moment to gaze upon the screencaps Stephanie made and wonder what the hell ET was thinking by putting their big ugly "Exclusive" label over Jake's face?

And his back?

And on his hair?

And on his...refrigerator?

New Brothers trailer

And everyone thought the Prince of Persia trailer would be the shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal showcase for the week. Surprise :)

It's a shorter, tighter trailer. Probably trying to give away less, but do those legs under the covers give away more?
