SMA

Jake Gyllenhaal apparently does make an appearance in People's Sexiest Man Alive issue. They got the cover wrong for the eighth straight year, but this is a nice shot of Jake:

Gyllencrazy posted these Hollywood Elsewhere clips the other day. A few clips from an End of Watch Q&A at the Screen Actors' Guild after the L.A. premiere:

Some stage door and backstage photos:

I think we posted this fan's photo. Turns out she blogged about seeing Jake at the New Yorker Festival for L&OD.

The person who posted the backstage picture in the post said this about Jake:

I am so thankful 11-16-12- to have met Jake Gyllenhaal. A star of kindness for sure.

I had a wonderful time meeting Jake Gyllenhaal !! He is a lovely, kind ( and yes, Adorable!) person.

The trailer for Now You See Me is out, and seeing it does not make me unhappy that Jake didn't do the movie. I can't tell how the movie will be, really. Looks a little cheesy but unique. But seeing Jake play second fiddle/straight man to Jesse Eisenberg's star turn wouldn't have been all that much fun.

Not crazy about any of the new trailers I've seen: The Great and Powerful Oz, Admission (Fey/Rudd) or The Heat (Bullock/McCarthy).

People Magazine needs to do a better job with placing their best photos, UV. LOL! That's definitely a cover photo. In fact, they could just use Jake for the whole magazine. : )

I saw previews for Oz & The Heat, too and I was not impressed. I was especially hoping Oz would look good, bcz they shot that here in Michigan, but the FXs and the animation looked...meh.

Meant to say, I really enjoyed the SAG Q & A. Hope we can find more of that.

I love that photo of Jake too, I've had it with People magazine, their choices always leaves me scratching my head!

The Wizard of OZ is one of my favorite films and I was not impressed at all with OZ trailer :(

WorstPreviews: "Warner Bros has been working on turning Stephen King's 'The Stand' into a movie for years. Back in August, David Yates was in talks, but eventually dropped out. And then, just a month ago, Ben Affleck signed on. In an interview with GQ magazine, Affleck explained how difficult it is to turn such a massive novel (823 pages) into a movie. 'Right now we're having a very hard time,' he said. 'But I like the idea - it's like 'The Lord of the Rings' in America. And it's about how we would reinvent ourselves as a society. If we started all over again, what would we do?' King recently said that he would love to see Jake Gyllenhaal play the lead, adding that he believes the book should be a trilogy of films.'

I'm not a fan of Stephen King and hope that Jake won't star in that movie.

Was Jake replaced by Mark Ruffalo? He hardly appears in the trailer. The trailer reminds me of "Ocean's 13", not necessarily a bad thing, but not very exciting either.

I heard that the flying monkees talk in Oz! I know they did in the book by Baum but still...

There was a mini series based on the Stand and I really don't see the need to make a big screen version of it.

I just hope that it's just Stephen King is just thinking/wishing a aloud.

I'm looking forward to Prisoners, the supporting cast is shaping up rather nicely.

I remember that stephan suggested Jake few years ago and it does not mean that he will star. studios usually not interested in what the author suggests.

there are many good movies based on the work of Stephan King, one of them is on top of imdb: "The Shawshank Redemption".

my ignorance about his talent probably stems from the fact that the only other thing i've seen him in is The Day After Tomorrow

Be very glad that Jake was not named SMA, there appears to be another backlash this year but not because of Gosling but because it's the same white, straight and some say Republican stereo type male on the cover.

In a more honest country and magazine, if you were to pick the sexiest man from Magic Mike, it would be hands down Matt Bomer. But Tatum had an awesome year although I can never get his name "straight", first vs last.

Mike Newell on PoP, sort of.

Monica is right - Stephen King said that about Jake and The Stand a while ago. I don't think it was ever more than a comment in an interview. I don't know enough about it to know if it would be any good.

Was Jake replaced by Mark Ruffalo? He hardly appears in the trailer. The trailer reminds me of "Ocean's 13", not necessarily a bad thing, but not very exciting either.

I'm not sure what role Jake was supposed to play, but clearly Jesse Eisenberg has the main, flashy role. I think Jake was slotted for the police/investigator role.

I'm thrilled to read the great reviews that are stil coming in regarding Jake and If there is...

Now that he has a taste of acting on stage again, I hope he plans on doing another play real soon.

That mention of Jake and The Stand isn't a new quote, I do remember King mentioning it before. I liked the book and the mini series was just meh IMO.

Saw Skyfall over the weekend, loved it! Craig is the 2ns best Bond (Connery being the best of course!)

Kinépolis : EoW isn't recommended for people under 12.

I wonder if they show an edited version of EoW or if the Spanish rating agency really thinks that 12 years old kids should watch the movie.

There will be many previews of EoW in Germany on "men's nights", a bit odd as most of Jake's fans are female.

Anne Thompson on Indiewire:
Oscar Dark Horse: Jake Gyllenhaal Talks Must-See 'End of Watch'

Anne Thompson: So your agents at WME guide you?

Jake Gyllenhaal: Yes and no. There's a select group who get to make those choices. I want to be a working actor, I have the opportunity to be given choices, it is not a conscious direction, 'I'm not going to do this kind of movie or this.' I do movies, find movies that I can get inside. I'm about to do a deal again with Denis Villeneuve, "Prisoners," playing a detective, l did his last studio movie, "An Enemy." I want to work with great directors.

I don't really know if it's a conscious move. It's a strange profession, at times absurd, acting. It's really a craft, it can be easily sidelined, as a business, away from craft. You can objectify yourself, the craft of acting, be able to observe and objectify, watch yourself, shape it, and fall back into it again. Uta Hagen was the first to say that a character eventually becomes you. That is what an actor is. As a result you can do that in a career. It's important to be savvy and smart and be involved in things you care about and deeply believe in. What works is caring what you do. That's where I'm at.

I said to myself, 'there are so many wonderful things coming from outside to take away from understanding and exploring yourself, internalizing.' I got into this because I adore acting with actors, as a team player, that's what I want to be. I wanted to devote myself to something that has actually changed my life. I want to make movies where I learn about life, to forever be a student.

One step away from final signature to start big budget Film production with Jake Gyllenhaal as the lead....this... http://fb.me/xKCz7SMy

One step? In production in January? Filming Africa? What happened to Prisoners?

I don't see this happening because the one signature away kind of puts a curse on the project. Big budget is kind of scary for this Jake fan.

Scott where he talk about filming Africa???

I do not think this is true because I would be very disappointed in Jake if he worked with this Rod Harrell guy, go take a look at his twitter page. He's as disgusting as Donald Trump.

New song about Jake??
http://www.hollywood.com/news/Taylor_Swift_Jake_Gyllenhaal_All_Too_Well_Harry_Styles_Dating/44594223

Taylor Swift Rumor Mill: Jake Gyllenhaal and Harry Styles Are Her Latest Victims

Whoa Nelly, hold the phone. Us Weekly has confirmed that Taylor Swift's song "All Too Well" is about ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal. Holy moly, Swift has written a song about an ex. And not just any ex — a specific ex who is also a famous person. You guys, I don't think anything like this has ever happened before.

So, basically, an "insider" totally told Us that the song is about Gyllenhaal. And, like, remember that time Swift spent Thanksgiving at Jake's sister's home in Brooklyn? And she went for a walk with Jakey and a zillion pics were taken and in every one Tay was wearing a blue striped scarf? Well, ohmigod, the song's lyrics, like, totally talk about all of that. The song goes, "I walked through the door with you / The air was cold but something 'bout it felt like home somehow and I / Left my scarf there at your sister's house / And you still got it in your drawer even now." IT'S TOTES THE EXACT SAME THING! But, like, does anyone else think it's way stalkerish of Jake to still have Taylor's scarf? Because it is.

Mary said...

US mag needs to get their facts straight that scarf was Jakes not Taylors

Mary said...

Sorry I meant hollywood.com

Monica said...

Mary, U.S. weekly said that. remember that this magazine has good relations with taylor, so her pr team is still sending information about each song. I think we'll have an article like this every week. after all there are 10 songs on him.

anon, that occurred more than two years, do you really think Jake still has that scarf? I read that she wrote this song at the time he broke up with her by phone lol, so it can be he returned that damn scarf to her, if this is true, or thrown away,. ..

UltraViolet said...

Sadly, Us can't even be bothered to keep its own stories straight. It's going to be a long promotional hell for this album.

Note to the helpful anions: There's no need to post this crap here. We can all see it in a million other places.

Leonor, I'm sorry you have to wait until January! That's terrible. Boo.

Hagen, thanks for the interview link. Posted in the new post.
