Without words. Just enjoying the beautiful images!
thanks, UV!

Aren't they wonderful, Monica? I wish I knew how to do a moving gif, so we could see them run together.

A couple of links from Monica from the end of the last post:

Pittsburgh FilmOffice:

Pottersville Pictures is looking for vehicles from 1985 to 1997

"Love & Other Drugs" the film directed by Ed Zwik (" Defiance") will be shooting this fall in and around Pittsburgh, with Jake Gyllenhaal & Anne Hathaway set to star in the romantic comedy for Fox 2000/ New Regency. The script, adapted from Jamie Reidy nonfiction book " Hard Sell : The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman" Pottersville Pictures is looking for vehicles from 1985 to 1997 to be featured in their movie. Filming will take place between September 21st to December 1st

Interesting - Jake's going to be in Pittsburgh for a while!

And you can submit picks for the sexiest stars in a poll for Empire Magazine.

Finally, SAG Actor posted a Nikki Finke link all about Dick Cook's ouster from Disney.

These are beautiful - I love the second one, and he looks magical in rapid motion - like he appears from nowhere. Love the limited colors, it looks like the desert to me. :)

Fantastic! All his very hard work really paid off! I love these.

These are so beautiful..... he looks perfect as an exotic fantasy hero IMO. Thanks, UV, for these lovely images.

I saw (500) Days of Summer last weekend...... and was thrilled to see a big PoP poster in the lobby. I almost hyperventilated. :)

Jake is beautiful. TY for all these gorgeous pictures.
If my son were much younger, I'd have an action figure or two in my home ASAP:) Who knows, we might have one or two anyway. He's played the game and is anticipating this film almost as much as I am.
Jake is a busy lad these last two years, and I'm happy for it because we babblers definitely need more Red Carpet shots.

OT
I went to Bright Star, was able to sit though it, and tried to post about it earlier. Alas, my post flew out the window. :lol

Whatever in the world is in the Australian/UK air, water, earth? We'e been blessed with so many brilliant actors from those areas. Heath, Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett and now Abbie Cornish, who will most certainly be nominated for an Oscar this year, as will perhaps her costar and her director Jane Campion.
I hear myself chuckle as I post my insignificant Oscar predictions, for we have all experienced the vagaries of the Academy in 2006.

However, my fingers are crossed for this movie...the best I've seen since Doubt.
luv and hugs,
sass

Chica said...

Hi Sass!
I've heard such great things about Bright Star and I'm a fan of J. Champion, I can't wait to see this.

I have my fingers crossed as well too. My only concern is that it was released too early, I would have preferred that it was released around November.

Yes, more Red carpet Jake Please!!

bobbyanna said...

I agree with you, sass. Seems like the Oscar buzz started as soon as the movie was screened. I am looking forward to it. I've seen three of her films, Candy, Elizabeth II, and Stop Loss, but Abbie, like Heath, often seems to exceed the material she's given.

I saw a movie called "Pandemaoneum" with Linus Roache a long time ago about a famous poet, Coleridge, I think. And of course Anne Hathaway in Becoming Jane. I wonder if Bright Star is similar.

I still haven't seen a trailer for Brothers on the big screen! I am really looking forward to it, but they need to start promoting it more, real soon.

suvee said...

I still haven't seen a trailer for Brothers on the big screen! I am really looking forward to it, but they need to start promoting it more, real soon.

ITA, bobbyanna!

It seems that Brothers might end up being sacrificed for Precious. Lionsgate has been pushing Precious for months now...... and it has won the Audience Favorite Award at both Sundance and TIFF. I'm guessing Lionsgate won't make much of an effort for Brothers. In a bad economy there's only so much money available to full-on promote your movies. Hope I'm wrong, but I'm worried about the near total lack of buzz for Brothers.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Bright Star, too.

Anonymous said...

Abbie is being talked about as being an Oscar nominee ..
am sure Ryan will be happy for her, but once again may be eclipsed by an actress.
When he and Abbie first got together (the movie they were making) he was the name and no one knew who she was.

bobbyanna said...

Wow, suvee, I can't believe that they don't have an decent promo budget for Brothers! Hadn't connected the two movies, but I hope Lionsgate didn't do that.

Maybe they're counting on letting the big names attached to Brothers sort of draw people to the movie. We know they have a trailer, and we know it's been shown in theaters, but apparently not that many.

I bet Jerry Bruckheimer's PoP will start establishing it's presence in theaters by Christmas.:)

Jake fan said...

Thanks so much for the new PoP pictures.
At Box Office Mojo word is that the trailer will be shown with "Surrogates" next week. True or not - I don´t think we will to wait too long for the trailer now.

But as much as I am excited for PoP I agree with Bobbyanna and Suvee on the complete lack of buzz for "Brothers".

P. Travers at Rolling Stone had a preview for the fall movies and "Brothers" was not even mentioned. And J. Wells has removed the film completley from his "Oscar Balloon" list.

When Lionsgate decides to not promoting "Brothers" at all the film will be gone from the theaters in one week. They obviously decided to concentrate on "Precious" after the buzz and WOM started at the Sundance film festival.

Sag actor said...

The buzz on Precious is amazing, but I I hope that Brothers isn't being sacrificed.

I can't see why Lionsgate can't push both movies, the lack of buzz on Brothers is troubling.

bobbyanna said...

It's not as if they need to do too much with Brothers. A great trailer for theaters and TV, a few articles, some well timed magazine spreads.

Interview did Natalie by Jake, but there seems to be no follow up with other publications.

I mentioned several threads ago that, when I went to see Julie and Julia on opening weekend, I was hoping to see the Brothers trailer, but all I got was about five or six movies with huge explosions and special effects.

The most jarring one was the trailer for 2012. It sent the J&J audience gasping! Defintely NOT in their demographic!

Julie & Julia was perfect for the Brothers trailer!I think there's been some really faulty decision-making about how to roll the PR out for the movie. But then again, what do I know.

Timing is everything, so maybe they're scheduling lots of stuff in October. Or not. If the movie's well recieved and makes $$$ they might keep it in theaters for TWO weeks! LOL!

Shondra said...

The first image is beautiful. I can imagine Jake doing parkour in these images. I just wish there was more on Brothers, it's really fruetrating.

Thanks for the Bright Star review Sass, I really liked Abby in Stop loss and Candy.

I have a feeling that Dick Cook was fired and didn't leave under his own steam, I just hope it doesn't effect Pop.

L&D sounds like it's goig to be a real funny film with a great supporting cast.

suvee said...

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I haven't heard anything specific regarding Lionsgate's finances. My guess is partly based on Paramount moving Shutter Island out to Feb. 2010...... they said they couldn't get the financing for an Oscar campaign (which apparently runs about $50 - 60 million) in 2009. Specifically, they couldn't get financing for an adult drama, 'cause they do poorly at the box office these days. :(

All I know is Precious has tons of buzz, Oprah is really pushing it, and....... Lionsgate was the company responsible for promoting Crash to an Oscar.

Fan said...

Jake looks beautiful in the new pictures. I hope POP will turn out to be an entertaining flick and that it succeeds in B.O.

I also find the lack of buzz for Brothers a little weird, but it's still only September and rarely anyone important has probably seen it yet.

As for Shutter Island, I'm very disappointed they delayed the movie. I was really looking forward to see it in October. :(

Anonymous said...

Don't think Dick Cook leaving POP would have any affect. The movie has been made and all the preperations have been done. It has a release date. The previews or little bits of previews are going to be seen before long.

Maybe movies planned that aren't in production yet might change but even that might not be the case.

Jake fan said...

This is obviously not the time for small, independent films for adults.

I don´t believe Cooks firing will have any influence on PoP - they have already spend to much money....

Tweety said...

Jake looks fantastic! I love the sparse use of color, makes it look more dramatic. If we don't see the trailer attached to Surrogates, maybe we will see it attached to A Christmas Carol, another Disney movie.

Sass, Abbie is currently one of my favorite actress. I think she will be nominated for best actress.

My expectations about Brothers are currently in the performances.

And J. Wells has removed the film completley from his "Oscar Balloon" list.
I sent an email to Wells: "Why Brothers is not in any festival?"

"Wells: Because it's not very good?"

Anonymous said...

Has Wells seen "Brothers"?
I know he was interested in it but got annoyed it wasn't released when it was talked about being released. Have never seen him mention he has actually seen the finished product or talked of anyone who has.
People have liked the previews and early on when it was screened or at least what was being seen wasn't finished there seemed to be a positive reaction overall.
I think too it will be looked at for the performances.
I think if the powers-that-be wanted it released to not be noticed they would of done it in August. December is a month that is considered a good month for movies to be released.
But have no doubt we'll like it. And Jake will get good reviews.

Have my fingers crossed for Mad Men to win best drama tonight at the Emmys!

Hi Monica. I e-mailed you back :)

Personally, I don't think Wells knows anything. If he had insider knowledge, he'd be spilling it.

Not much news out there tonight. This cute sighting was a couple of weeks ago:

My friend Alicia met Jake Gyllenhaal and he told her that she had a pretty smile!!!! Rumor is he might make an appearance at the same undisclosed location tomorrow.

I don't think that little boy is Jake but he sure is adorable!! The other 2 definately Jake and Reese/Jake.

The comments are from June of this year but I don't know when they were taken. Judging from what I can see, they look like they have on the similar gear they wore at Coachella in April.

Great find Monica, Thanks!

I take that back: Pic of J&R was taken in June when she was filming in DC, I just realized he has a W on his baseball cap!

I'm inclined to think the little boy is Jake at about the age of five or six. Pre- Little League. Looks like a family gathering of some sort. He does have cousins, etc.

Sheba baby said...

I love the second photo, Jake in motion, yessss!!!!. Love all the imagery, color. I can't wait to see the trailer, I hope we don't have to wait too long.

Ava is a mini Reese for sure and that little boy does look like Jake!

Definately Jake and Reese in DC in June.

Waves at ((Sass)))!

bobbyanna said...

I'm leaning to "yes" that's Jake on the little kids' picture, too. I'd put the age at somewhere between 4 and 6? He sems to be transitioning from toddler to little boy.

Great find, Monica, on all the pics!

Shondra said...

Looks like a young Jake to me too, great work Monica!

Sci Fi Wire

I'm leaning toward that being a young Jake too!

But the usual statements about POP from people who are like all the people who say everything is wrong and what a mistake, etc. And the majority of the time those folks are proven wrong, but continue to do their basic negative talk about the next movie from a game or comic or whatever.
Even if some may like it it's going to be difficult for them to admit it. For the general audience I think they're going to really enjoy it.
Think also many of the fan boys haven't seen Jake in all that many movies and have no idea the type of actor he is.

Monica said...

Jake Gyllenhaal on House's trailer:
House Season 6 Trailer

Anonymous said...

Seems like Jake did some pretty amazing leaping and climbing from that SciFi Wire article. He's said he tends to "over-prepare" for a role. Pretty dangerous stuff.

UltraViolet said...

That House mention sure set the twitter-verse on fire! And LOL at the woman who missed her chance with Jake, who's on her "list." Hee.

This is actually about a John Malkovichsighting - not sure if the Jake part is something that happened or that she wished happened. Sounds real :)

Now don't get me wrong, NYers are plenty interested in celebrities and celebrity goings-on. We read Perez and Gawker, text about who we just saw and where, but there's no hyper-crazed fan action. And if it exists, we keep it to ourselves. Until we get back to work and gush to our coworker about seeing Jake Gyllenhaal at the deli 5 minutes ago and how we didn't know who it was until we had to squeeze past him and how he looked like he was going to play basketball and how insanely hot he was and how we're forgetting to breath or use punctuation. Being the good friend that she is she played the giddy teenaged fan right there with me.

This is a real one, though the blogger wasn't exactly impressed!

So... apparently I had met a celebrity! O_O

When I was working a couple nights ago, I was all frazzled and stressed from being assigned right in the middle of a big rush. I waited on this one guy, nothing special, he paid for the not-so-expensive meal with a $100 (I tried to not show my annoyance) and when he walked off and I pulled myself together, one of my managers comes up to me and asks me if I knew who that was.

Apparently that was Jake Gyllenhaal! Okay I'll be honest, I'm not too familiar with his stuff, I know he was in Donnie Darko and Brokeback Mountain (neither of which have I seen) but still it was really surprising. O_O

Chica said...

I don't watch House but I saw all the tweets, too funny! Thanks for the video Monica! And thanks for the Sci-fi Wire article, I ignore the comments now since it's the same old Jake isn't Persian crap.

I think her encounter was real UV, the entry sounds like a collection of celebrity encounters. Jake has been in Pittsburgh, so I assume it happened last weekend or another time or maybe Jake took a quick trip to NY!

I think that's young Jake as well!

Anonymous said...

Tweeters were saying the movie was supposed to be shootng on the Pitt campus in Oakland, but there haven't been any tweets about Anne Hathaway at all. It only takes a "minute" to hop over to NYC.
That huge G20 conference that's going to start has most people wanting to avoid Pittsburgh
if they can, even if you live there.

Chica said...

Yeah I noticed that all the tweets about filming in Pittsburgh were all about Jake, no Anne yet. I assume that she is not needed on set right now.

I forgot about the G20! And Yes it's a quick trip to NY, how come I never run into Jake here????

agent_krycek said...

Speaking of Hugh Laurie, I once made a complete fool of myself in front of him. He had to come into the police station I worked at for some reason (non criminal!) - I was working the front desk and having an argument with the safe and some equipment I was trying to fit back into it, when I say argument I mean a loud, swearing filled rant at two inanimate objects - finally realised there was someone the other side of the desk and turned round to find a nervous, and faintly horrified looking Mr Laurie standing there - I can reveal no, no matter how hard you pray, the ground refuses to open and swallow you up.

Anonymous said...

Jake looks awsome, This is going to be huge!

What a funny story SK, I love House and Hugh Laurie! Love the Jake/BBM reference in the trailer. Didn'yt LAurie do one of the voices for MVA? I think he was the bug/scientist!

8-10 hours if you drive I assume since I have driven from Philly to Pittsburgh and it has taken me 4 hours if I remember correctly. Flying to NY or even taken Amtrak is a lot quicker of course.

Oh no, Agent K - :)

I'm loving these new PoP pics, Jake looks like he's surfing in the first one, flying in the second one. They are going to torture us until PoP comes out, I see. :)

bobbyanna said...

Agent K that's a hilarious story! Look at it this way. You made an enormous contribution to his profession! Once he determined you weren't a deranged worker,(at least I hope he did) he probably recorded your performance in his 'tool kit' for future reference.:)

Heeheehee, Agent K. That is a hilarious story. I bet Hugh thought it was funny, too. Once he realized you weren't a threat :)

I do love Hugh. And I used to love House, but I got tired of it. I might tune in again this year, since the rumor is that Chase will have actual screen time.

This twitterer said last night that he'd seen a sneak peek of PoP. He didn't like it, saying it tries too hard to be PotC.

The tweet seems to be gone. Not sure if he reconsidered because of confidentiality or a change of heart or a sudden fear of Mice. He gave it a 5/10. You can see his original tweet in some retweets.

I do agree with everyone who mentioned the lack of Brothers buzz and promotion.
