Wow this has become the Jake and Alyssa board. I no longer buy Jake and his claim to keep his personal life oh so private.

What private man dates Taylor Swift and a model who instragrams her entire life?

Before you say it UV, i won't be back.

Anonymous said...

It's not like that. It depends where you get the info. There are times that everything image related is about filming of a movie, we have had the Munford and Sons train phase, the bycicle phase, among others. Now, Jake is between films and what we get the most is his social life, and it's normal.

He has started a new relationship, why should he hide? I much prefer this (acting naturally, going to different places with your new GF, because you want to spend time with her obvs) than forced everything in order of avoid cameras. Do your thing

It's just a few pics, simmer down. There is tons of Jake news on this blog. Keep up the great work UV!

Why are you so bothered?

hello sweet beautiful Lara and wise Hagen thank you for your kind messages of welcome back!
I suffered a minor surgery but now I'm fine!

obviously a warm greeting to all present!

bobbyanna said...

Oh, poop. Jake's single,& he dates, even girls who weren't famous. There's a difference between a few dates, and actually trying to have a relationship with someone.

The intersection between the fashion world and the world of celebrities is pretty well established.

If he parties with them, and hangs out with and knows a lot of single girls who happen to be models, and his friends party with and date models, then he is very likely going to meet & date models. I mean it's sort of like high school for grown ups. LOL!

Honestly, who cares? Jake's got a girlfriend. Good for them. I'm glad UV posts photos, bcz yes, they're a stunning couple, and since they seem to spend a lot of time together, why ignore the fact they're a couple. As fans we talk about his career, and his friends, and his activities all the time.

It would be dishonest to pretend Alyssa doesn't exist in his life. Thanks for posting the new photos UV. I'm enjoying the ride. : )

Anon 9:44, thanks for promising not to come back. Well said, Anon 10:02.

News of Iceland: The Icelandic director Baltasar Kormakur is preparing to film his next movie, Everest. He was on the Italian Dolomitos mountains last week where he found suitable filming locations. He is also going to New Zealand where he will speak to the widow of the man which the main character in Everest is based on.

Baltasar will also go to Nepal next week where he will check out Mt. Everest using a helicopter, but the director doesn't plan to hike on the mountain himself. "The time used for preparation is always expensive and I can't afford to climb Mt. Everest only to tell some reporter that I have done it." said Baltasar.

In recent interviews, Baltasar talked about that he wanted to partly shoot the film in Iceland. He says that has not changed and he hopes that he can film in a studio in Iceland for up to two months. "This is promising and hopefully it will work" said the director.

UV :) you're too sweet, I'm fine now! it was nothing serious, just a small hernia, although I dramatized at most to have a bit of pampering and relaxation! ;) LOL!

danielle said...

How can Jake be on the Vineyard when he was in LA yesterday. I know there are planes, but we saw him buying a lot of groceries. So this tweet either is a joke or a mistaken identity.

Translator said...

Variety caught up with "Everest" news - and it's a pretty big elaborate story on Baltasar Kormakur and the movie itself:

In practical terms:
"Produced by the U.K.’s Working Title, and skedded to roll late October/early November, the action-adventure drama of a disastrous 1996 multi-expedition assault on Everest that left eight climbers dead, is now in “soft prep,” Kormakur said on the eve of Locarno.
Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, John Hawkes and Jason Clarke are in advanced talks to star, he confirmed."

Tidbits:

“Everest”’s net budget is “probably $50 million-to-$60million”.

“Everest” poses complexities in both its financing and the physical shoot.

Kormakur was scouting for locations in the Dolomites last week with legendary U.S. mountaineer/filmmaker Dave Breashears, who has climbed Everest five times, worked on “Cliffhanger” and “Seven Years in Tibet,” and will work as an advisor on “Everest”.

Kormakur aims to shoot on Everest, maybe up to the Khumbu Icefall, probably in the Dolomites, and in a studio in the U.K. or Iceland.

“We will work on ways to digitally enhance Everest, matching it with Dolomites and Everest, but I’ll do everything physically first. If there’s no other way, then I’ll go to CGI.”

“Everest’s” biggest challenge is most probably finding the human story in a more generic – here action-adventure – context.

“Everest” will be about “ambition, the beginning of the commercialization of Everest,” but also afford, he hoped, “an understanding of why people do this, try to climb Everest.”

“I’m particularly drawn to it because I feel it resonates with what I’m doing. I live on the edge of the world, and am pushing myself personally and professionally to hopefully reach some kind of a summit,” he added.

UltraViolet said...

Thanks, Translator. That is a long story. It's worrisome that Jake is still just in talks. We've been down this road before. Things do seem further along but still.

As absurd as it sounds $50 million to $60 million isn't that much for a movie like this.

This also bugs, in comparison to other comments:

Though boasting an ensemble cast, “Everest” will be “a bit Rob Hall’s movie,” the director commented, in reference to one of the expedition leaders who cajoled a client to the top, only to stay with his stricken client when he collapsed high on the mountain, despite a deadly storm.

That makes Jason Clarke the "star" of the movie.

UltraViolet said...

Oops, hit send too soon. He does mention there will be humor, which is a good thing.

Danielle, it's possible for Jake to be back on the Vineyard but it seems unlikely. Someone on FB said they saw him at Soul Cycle in NY today. Someone else saw him in LA!

Glad to hear you're okay, FP!

Hagen, thanks for the Everest article, also. Sounds like it's going to be an interesting, tough shoot.

Monica said...

I'll just be happy when it is confirmed that Jake is in the movie.
But I hope he does Everest. I enjoyed reading the story of the character.

Translator said...

You're welcome, UltraViolet. It was a well-written article on a movie aiming high. Forgot to mention the detail about humor.

They are all just "in advanced talks", studio speak for not yet official but it's a done deal. The issue for Jake would be timing, making the 2 schedules work, Nightcrawler-Everest back-to-back. It takes planning.

I wouldn't worry about Jason Clarke being "the star" of the movie. I think the initial script, that got Bale interested, was mainly Rob Hall's movie. Now it's just "a bit". Otherwise Rob Hall would be played by Brolin, not Clarke. In a previous article Komakur said: "Christian Bale? No, that was just for a moment, but now I can say because it's been in the media that we've been talking to Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Jake Gyllenhaal. I want to make it more of an ensemble. Of course, their(?) stars, Josh Brolin and Jake, but more as an ensemble rather than based on one star."

A little catch up on my part: Inside the Actors Studio is a very big deal and I'm happy and proud that Jake will be part of it. Somebody asked where it tapes: in NYC.

Monica said...

THR says:

Kormakur will next scale Everest for Universal in the fall, a project that Christian Bale circled before eventually bowing out. Instead, Kormakur reimagined Everest as an ensemble effort rather than a hero’s journey and it will star Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke and John Hawkes. The director remained philosophical about the casting shuffle.

Hagen said...

San Sebastián Film Festival has added another six movies to the official competition. The most prominent movies are probably "The Railway Man" starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman and "Le Week-End" by "Notting Hill" director Roger Michell (whose previous film "Hyde Park on Hudson" got mixed reviews).

I am very excited to hear more about this Everest movie. I hope Jake will do it. I am also proud he will do the Actors Studio.

Anonymous said...

Well, if you look for clues, when Jake arrived at the airport in L.A., he is carrying two pieces of luggage, his backpack and another one.

Next, he has an assistant shopping with him at the store for groceries. He doesn't usually use an assistant unless he is going to be busy working on something, and he didn't just pick up a few things at the store, it looked like he had four bags of groceries.

Next, there's a sighting of him in L. A. yesterday. Maybe he did go back to New York this morning, and maybe he was up and out at 8 A.M. because that is the timing of this morning's sighting.

I wish and hope he was in New York because than he walks around and uses the subway, and even rides his bike. In L. A. he is driving his car, and we don't see him unless he goes where the photographers are. But I think he might still be in L.A. I, too will wait to see if we can figure out this mystery.

Hi everyone, I'm so glad to be back. I've been hospitalized due to a brain aneurysm that ruptured, to make a long story short I fainted outside my house on the past 3 of July, I wake up on the ambulance with a severe headache, vomiting and confused, in the hospital they did a TC scan and angiography and I was with a subarachnoid hemorrhage due to the ruptured aneurysm, I went into surgery that same day, then had to stay two weeks on intensive care unit and another week on the neurosurgery ward, it was the worst weeks of my life, but I'm very fortunate to be alive and almost no disability.

I've been trying to update on Jake, but I still get very tired and dizzy, but for what I know he drop out of into the woods to focus on nightcrawler, and Enemy will be competing in San Sebastian, that´s great news, maybe he will came to Portugal, who knows?

Also, it is so good to see him happy with Alyssa and I love to see the pics, he seems so relax.

Hope he does the Everest project and excited about the actors studio.

Based on The Double by Nobel Laureate José Saramago, this film explores the troubled psyche of a man who is torn between his mistress and his wife. Jake Gyllenhaal gives a brilliant performance as both Adam and Anthony — a man and his double — engaged in a lethal and erotic battle.

Paula, you came back on a day with a lot of news. Glad to hear Enemy will play Toronto. I hope this means there will be a poster or a trailer or something to promote it.

I also hope mermon or another bold tweeter will ask Jen McDonnell what she means about Enemy. I remember a tweeter saw it and said essentially the same thing - she wasn't sure if it was good or bad. I don't know if this is the same person.

Thanks to everyone for all the links and tweets.

Great news that Enemy will be at TIFF,my fingers are also crossed for the masterpiece option.

Anything more you may say about the movie? How did you like Jake in double role? Adam or Anthony, which one you prefer? :)

Jake was amazing. Both very diff characters. The ending was SO WEIRD, though.

I read the book,I have a feeling they changed a lot.Like a book was not erotic at all and here I guess it is #EroticThriller?

I wouldn't have called it that, but I saw a really rough cut. Who knows what's changed

Lately? Or earlier, cause it's one month to Toronto Festival, should be ready, right?

I saw it months ago

FP said...

Paula also I have never tasted peanut butter!

I guess it is not something typically European, but it looks so tasty when I see it in the movies!

UltraViolet said...

A slighlty more discouraging (and spoilerific, so beware!) exchange on Enemy from FB:

Becca, it looks like that movie we screened is going to play TIFF

Hmm... interesting... I'm guessing it'll be better than when we saw it

I don't know how they could salvage it

Re-edit and reshoot a bunch?

Re-shoot for sure... but I don't see that happening. Especially considering the questions asked. It got some editing in but unless there were a ton of scenes missing that could have made things work better, the film isn't going to be that much better. Though I'd be surprised if the spider stayed in the final film considering feedback about it

Have to say, not really knowing the whole story, that I agree about the spider!

TV Spot: Prisoners

TV Spot: Prisoners

That's a pretty good TV spot, I think. I'm pleased that Jake plays a bigger part in the movie and its marketing campaign than I expected. The pre-release buzz for "Prisoners" could be stronger though: Just slightly more than 20.000 people like the film on Facebook. On the other hand its Flixster data look solid compared to other movies.

There's still no German trailer, even though the film will be released over here in less than two months.

Thanks, Monica. Nice to see something, but like Hagen, I wish there was more out there.

Put up a new post with the spot, at least.
