Strolling along

Jake Gyllenhaal and Alyssa Miller out for a Sunday stroll, with Jake's mother and with Alyssa's dog, Charlie.

Apparently, there was once a show called Starstruck, where fans got to meet and interview stars. Jake is never actually interviewed by them, but he makes some appearances in these episodes:

The Day After Tomorrow - Jake is at the end:

Heath Ledger (Casanova & Brothers Grimm press conferences); BBM red carpet (Jake at about 5:45):

BBM Toronto (Jake at about ten minutes and again about 21 minutes in; adorable Heath moments):

is there a patient boarder out there who could put together a summary/run down of the (potential) dates and festivals jake and his movies will be playing over the next month? i love bullet points.

Gyllenbabble said...

No.

Ramona said...

Is that really how you welcome visitors to your site? That was just rude.

Rumors posted on the awards watch forum that Javier Bardem will be the jury president of San Sebastian, and Melissa Leo as a member of the Jury.

Ramona, so far we only know that Enemy goes to San Sebastian and Prisoners go to the Toronto Film Festival. Only these are confirmed. Others are rumors.

Chica said...

Merci for that translation anon! And thanks to all the festival updates. Hope Enemy gets some love
at some of these festivals.

It's how I welcome visitors who ask for something on their very first post. If you're so concerned with good manners, how about an introduction before a request?

I'm sure you'll pop back in to thank Monica for being so gracious.

Instead of "yes, please??"....!

You should have said yes, correct your statement.

TIFF has just announced the Vanguard and other categories and still no mention of Enemy.

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=107190

Baltasar Kormakur was being interviewed about his movie Two Guns, and he talked about Everest, and where and how he plans to shoot it. It sounds more & more that Jake, Josh Brolin, Jason Clarke and John Hawkes are firm for the project. He said they intend to "go on Everest..." : /

UltraViolet said...

Too bad about TIFF, but there's still the Canada-only slate to come, yes? Perhaps Enemy will make it into that lineup.

Interesting article, Bobbyanna. The "half-green" light is worrying, since that could also be interpreted as "half-red." But that would be pessimistic of me :)

Unknown said...

Oh! Ricardo Darín -actor Argentino- es Jurado!
Thanks Hagen!

UltraViolet said...

Hi Leonor! Not sure what you're referring to?

Bobbyanna, I think you were right when you said that might be the Everest director with Jake in the Il Buco instagram photo :)

Hagen said...

Oh! Ricardo Darín -actor Argentino- es Jurado!

Hi Leonor, Ricardo Darín was a member of the jury last year, not this year. I'm sorry to have confused you. ;-) I just wanted to point out that the schedule of SSFF (and the members of the jury) will probably be announced in early September.

Too bad about TIFF, but there's still the Canada-only slate to come, yes?

The "Contemporary World Cinema" section usually contains some Canadian movies (or maybe "Enemy" will be shown at NYFF (September 27 - October 13 ), who knows.

Translator said...

Today's announcement was for
Documentaries
Vanguard - avantgarde/provocative films
Midnight Madness - horror/scary thrillers
City to City - Athens this year
Cinématheque - digitally restored films

There are 4 other sections to be announced in August:
Contemporary World Cinema - 64 films last year
Masters - 14 last year
Discovery - 27 last year
Kids

2 sections are well-suited for "Enemy". Contemporary World Cinema because "Enemy" is a Canadian-French-Spanish coproduction with American-Canadian-French-Italian-Swedish cast.
Masters because Denis Villeneuve is a well-established Canadian director.

{TB EXCLUSIVE} Jake Gyllenhaal And Jeff Bridges Have Offers For "Comancheria" - http://tinyurl.com/k4w6yho

Translator said...

Talk about great prospects. Never heard of Comancheria but Jake doing a movie with Jeff Bridges would be a dream come true. Maybe their meeting at Spike awards had something to do with it? I hope TB's scoop is legit.

bobbyanna said...

I'd LOVE to see him work with Jeff Bridges. That would be so cool. That's great news. (Or rumor. ; ) )

I just read about the storyline. Two brothers, one an ex con & the other divorced father of two, turn to robbing banks when they're faced with losing their home. Two US marshals have to go after them. It sounds like it could be a thriller or a caper movie, serious and yet there's potential for some comedy. I think it's present day, not cowboys. Whatever.

I hope it's a real possibility. (I'd prefer Jake to play a bank robber...for a change. : ))

You're right Mary. Thanks Lara. He looks great. In all my visits to NYC hopping on subways, I have never seen anyone who looks like that. ( sigh.)

UltraViolet said...

Reserving judgment, as TB does not have the best track record. Sounds like it could be a fun ride. Especially Jake as the robber and not the cop. But it sort of pains me to see Jake connected to this second tier of talent (Jeff Bridges excepted). Peter Berg is not exactly David Fincher.

Forgive me, I'm a little bitter after seeing the American Hustler trailer. But I hope work begets even better work for Jake.

From twitter:

At Shakespeare in the Park! But, more immediately important, was just standing next to Mr. No Longer A Prince But Still Dreamy Gyllenhaal

UltraViolet said...

Hi, Translator. Glad you've stuck around. And forgive my pessimism about the movie. Here's an optimistic write-up:

The story sounds like quite the ride centering on "two brothers, one an ex-con and the other a divorced father of two kids, who face the foreclosure of their family’s West Texas farm. They team for a skillfully-calculated bank robbing spree that puts them on a collision course with two Texas Rangers determined to take them down."

Berg has the Navy SEAL drama "Lone Survivor" with Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch and Ben Foster in the works and may follow it up with "Comancheria" unless they decide to move it into production sooner -- in which case, Berg will have a say in who takes helm anyway. With no problems attracting talent, a simple actioner like this with strong leads might actually do Berg a world of good.

UltraViolet said...

Lara, thanks for posting the photo. This made me smile:

Lol that's not him

I didn't think so either and was like "nah that guy probably gets that a lot." And then he smiled at his phone and he had that unmistakeable smile.

I'm so in awe. Sometimes, New York jumps out at you and says look at me!! This evening, I passed NY Times fashion photog/icon Bill Cunningham as I was walking into Lincoln Center to spend an hour writing before heading to Shakespeare in the Park. As I sat on the grass covered steps near the reflecting pool behind Avery Fisher Hall, 3 student ballerinas posed on point and took photos of each other. After writing, I exited from the side and passed another NY Times star, wacky & weird genius writer David Carr who was wearing a black tee shirt that said Will Write for Food.

Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost, as a musical, was so campy hilarious and even starred a real high school marching band just as I've been reflecting on the joy I experienced during my time in band. Afterwards on the subway platform spotted Jake Gyllenhal smooching with a honey and ended up sitting right across from them on the train. Got t come home to my amazing view of Manhattan skyline and smother Buddha boy with kisses then let him play/chew on my hands. Was this a dream? It sure was magical. Thanks New York. #happiness

Marc Foster it's the director, Peter Berg would be just a producer.

No she look very young and model-y. Beautiful girl and they were all over each other and she had a little bouquet if flowers. Looked like love

I like friends who ask for details!

OMG, what treasures, thanks, UV. These are great photos!! I love that he's wearing eyeglasses, too. (sigh.) And she has flowers...

Friends who ask for details are the best. : )If they weren't famous, they'd still attract attention.

UltraViolet said...

LOL at all the people looking in that first photo, the one of them standing on the platform.

Thank you for the warm welcoming. For a long time I checked here all news about Jake, as I assume many fans do. I'm gonna stick around and make my little contribution whenever I can.

UltraViolet and Bobbyanna - thanks for "Comancheria" write-ups. I like the plot, even more that Jake would play the bank robber this time, as opposed to the cop/ranger. Jake's character, the divorced brother with kids, seems to have a backstory and a purpose. He could also wear a Stetson :-) Of course Jake acting opposite Jeff Bridges will be the icing on the cake. I'm trying not to get my hopes up - many of his projects didn't materialize. But it'd great to become a reality.

Jake's shaved face and Alyssa's legs are a standout. Really beautiful. I wonder if Jake shaved for a photoshoot, cause we need something new "Prisoners" and "Enemy"-related.

Hagen said...

The Canadian lineup at TIFF will be revealed on August 7th in one fell swoop.

Last year the Canadian lineup included seven "Special Presentations", five movies in the "Contemporary World Cinema" section, one film in the "Vanguard" and one in the "Masters" program. So "Enemy" could be in any section.

UltraViolet said...

thanks, Hagen. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thoguh that hasn't really worked for anything Enemy-related so far :)

This is great, if true. Jake on Inside the Actors Studio:

like yeah im mad that im missing Jake Gyllenhaal's ITAS bc i transferred but then i remember i have his autograph and a pic with him already

you can still go if you transferred. no one checks.

true ill just have to see what day of the week the taping is

it's a tuesday, the 20th. 7pm

Fingers crossed :)

UltraViolet said...

Translator, glad you're sticking around! I look forward to Comancheria if Jake's character has shades of gray. It might be more fun if he were the ex-con, but without seeing the script, it's hard to know the better role. We'll have to see.

It is fun to have his name bandied about for roles again. Just would like to see some A-list directors involved.

I have my fingers crossed that Enemy will end up at TIFF. We here at GB wished that Jake would make an appearence on The Actors Studio! I have my fingers crossed too. I love Jeff Bridges and would love to see him and Jake do a film together.

Jake and Alyssa make a stunning couple:)

Hey, long time no see! I agree with everything you said! LOL!

I'm thrilled about the possibility that Jake may finally do ITAS. My only problem with James Lipton is that every time I watch one of those episodes, I keep "seeing" Will Ferrell. LOL! I bet we can pretty well predict some of the answers to the questionnaire. : )

Did you have see tweeter today TS fans just found a tweet from Alyssa from last year about jake, John and Joe? I saw the tweet and just said that is very ironic, now she deleted but TS fans posted on facebook, and u now how they are. If they make this a big deal maybe will be in some gossip sites soon.

by the way, nice pic UV, thanks

I agree with you. I wanted to see Jake working with an a-list director. I think Fincher was the last.
I mean, I liked that he worked with someone like Duncan Jones for example, but it would be good to have a balance between a-list directors and new directors.

Lara, I'm happy for the return of wes bentley. I like him.

Hi FP, nice to see you back. According to Collider Jake isn't on the shortlist for the next Batman.

Anonymous said...

according to Collider: "Again, it is extremely early in the casting process for Batman vs. Superman so please remember that this is not the finalized list of choices for who will play Batman; it’s entirely possible that Snyder could go with a different actor altogether."

Anonymous said...

Ryan Gosling Batman? I;m thinking its his people putting that out there again. Jake should be Batman, he was made for it. Let Gosling or Brolin destroy the Superman vs Batman movie, because it will happen.

UltraViolet said...

Rolling my eyes at the Gosling exception in the Batman list. Interesting that he gets no flack for the underwhelming performance of Drive, Place Beyond the Pines or (seemingly) Only God Forgives.

Whatever. I doubt he'll do it, because he doesn't really need to.

Lara, I wouldn't worry too much about that tweet. If it was real, she shouldn't have bothered to delete it.
