Smörgåsbord

Edited to add the above photo, just posted to IHJ, from a different and more appealing GQ shoot :)

Remember this old GQ photo spread? Jake's hair was apparently done by stylist April Barton of New York's Suite 303. Barton has posted a couple of "backstage" photos:

Taking a cue from that strange and, shall we say, eclectic shoot (to be nice), here's a hodgepodge of Jake photos that have cropped up in the last few weeks or so.

From the Di Palo's Fine Food instagram: "#jakegyllenhaal with our 5th generation! He is a big fan of our homemade eggplant parmigiana made daily in store #dipalos #dipalofinefoods thank you jake!"

Fan photo from Berlin last year:

At the Washington Nationals game, 2008:

From the Being John Malcovich premiere?

And some random tidbits from the interwebs. First, in a February GQ UK article about Idris Elba:

True to his lane-changing philosophy, he spent the previous night DJing, while tonight he's having dinner with Jake Gyllenhaal.

That's one table it would have been fun to see!

Soul and Fly impressions of Jake:

You know I’m going to find a SoulCycle in every city I am in, right? The best workout on the planet- and the most fun too. This 18th Street studio does not disappoint- and I’ve even sat beside Jake Gyllenhaal in it’s classes (no, seriously I have.. and he’s ripped)

Happy March! I was just in a Flywheel class with Jake Gyllenhaal, so I know it’s going to be a good month. And yes, he was gorgeous, sweaty and all.

And from Us:

Jake Gyllenhall rocking out next to Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora at a Maroon 5 concert in NYC.

Maroon 5 played Madison Square Garden on February 16.

And I thought this was cute. From the FB of a former Harvard Westlake teacher:

Thanks to Netflix we saw "End of Watch" with former student Jake Gyllenhaal and "The Master" with Juaquin Phoenix and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Jake was intense. I'm still not sure what I watched as far as "The Master," but Hoffman is wonderful in every role he plays.

Welcome to Berlin

This can be part of "Give us a hug," round two. Jake Gyllenhaal was greeted at Berlin's Tegel Airport by Dieter Kosslick, the director of the Berlin Film Festival. Jake will be a member of the international jury for the festival, which begins tomorrow. Kosslick presented Jake with flowers, and a gaggle of fans presented him with many photos to sign.

It wasn't all hearts and flowers and fans, though. Jake actually had to push his own luggage cart at first!

Stars - they are just like us!

Achtung, baby

Jake Gyllenhaal and Duncan Jones presented Source Code at a Berlin premiere Thursday night, after another day of the full court press, Bild interviewed Jake in their Berlin newsroom. I saw a twitter photo yesterday but couldn't make out where they were. Then I saw this story.

When I saw the photo, I noted that all the women were looking at Jake. The story seems to reinforce that!

But back to the blue eyes and sexy stubble! Jake is the ex of Reese Witherspoon (35). And Single! My courageous colleague Sissi Benner asked a question in the editorial meeting before about 50 journalists.

The question: "Jake, what does a women have to do, so you fall in love with her?" Everyone giggles.
Mr. Gyllenhaal: "They must be able to surprise me. Just like you. "

In an interview after I say, "You are 30. Time to settle down!"
Jake: "I must still find the right one for this, but I would like a family. "

Here are details on the application for the job for "the right one: music by "Arcade Fire," cooking, grow their own vegetables in the garden.

Very crisp and clear video of Jake and Duncan introducing the movie:
