Timely, topical and totally unverified information about Jake Gyllenhaal

Still life
Some new, striking stills from Southpaw were released as Jake Gyllenhaal began promotion for the film overseas.
Jake did both television and radio interviews to kick off Southpaw promos. We won't get to see the full Graham Norton episode stateside until next Saturday, but here's a clip. It's a brow-off:
I don't know who this Lainey person is (I'm Dutch) and I've never read there, but she is totally wrong - or she clearly hasn't seen Jake jump rope on Ellen, like bobbyanna said :)
I loved reading both the Esquire and Details interviews, because it showed us a side of Jake we hadn't seen (or read) that much before - and if that's "un-fun", then so be it. Yes, he's a man now - I'm glad he is. I wouldn't want him to be an actor who is only cast as a pretty boy or a hunk or a rom-com guy.
Lainey is Canada's top gossip blog. She mostly takes entertainment news that's already out here and gives her own opinions or speculation about it. She's on Canada's version of E! News. She usually posts stuff from the Daily Mail or other tabloids and comments on whether or not she believes it. She also speculates about entertainment news and gives her own opinion of it. She rarely breaks any news or has any "inside" information. Anyone can do what she does.
Hey, anon. Why don't you pick a name before telling other posters what to post?
And then when you get the name, forget the part about telling other people what to post.
Unlike you, Ann has an identifiable name and posting history. So Ann, please continue to post as you always have. And anon, feel free to whine about it in private.
It's amazing how in a few years the perception that people have of Jake is completely upside down. Now it's a race to defend him, to emphasize the great actor that he is, and how humble and lovable he is. I'm a proud fan, and I'm glad I was here even in the most harsh, and to have shared all the good and bad with you, it was an amazing journey.
I'm a proud fan, and I'm glad I was here even in the most harsh, and to have shared all the good and bad with you, it was an amazing journey.
Well said, FP. I may not have been here on this blog during all of it but I've been a fan of Jake's through it all so I've definitely been feeling like a proud fan seeing how things have turned around.
Lainey is one of Jake biggest fans. Most of the time she always has something positive about him. But if she doesn't like something, she'll talk about it. Or if she knows any gossip, she will share, after all it is her job.
Kaiser from Celebitchy hate Jake since he pretended relationship with Swift. Click on the tag Jake Gyllenhaal, if it was written by her, she will always have something negative about him. She's a hypocrite for saying he's desperate for Oscar knowing that she is a fan of Benedict Cumberbatch who was every day in our face last year because of the Oscar. She will always give a free pass for those she likes (Jolie, Bennie) and negative for whom she hates (Aniston, Jake, ...).
The interview is boring, the Esquire is better. But I agree that he is more and more serious. Now it's wrong to compare with Pratt. Pratt is the new star in Hollywood. He will play like a star. He didn't have to take him seriously, or earn respect as an actor because at the time he is an BO actor. Wait to see how he will act when he decides to take him seriously as an actor. That day will come. I used to like him until read that he kill animals for fun.
Jake is on another level. He doesn't think about being a star, he has been there. He wants to be an actor, he thinks on the characters, the depth of them, the challenge they bring to him. There is nothing wrong with that.
Kaise think Jake pretended the relationship with Reese too, because she was in the bandwagon of that idiot of Ted Casablanca, since now is clear more than ever how ridiculous were the things he was writing, and after she spent so many years embarrassing herself endorsing all that crap she does not know how to get out without being even more stupid,so she continues to despise Jake for not admitting her failure and how wrong and superficial she was.
LOL, Yes you are FP. I enjoy posting here and interacting with everyone.
Monica, thanks for the info regarding Lainey and Kaiser. I know Lainey is a fan of Jake's. I didn't know about Kaiser. I just happened to find that article when searching Jake's name on twitter, lol. Knowing all of that definitely puts that article into perspective.
Wow. This most recent post of Lainey's is really positive! She's actually putting Jake in the same post as DeNiro and Pacino? LOL! The Grantland piece was a very good analysis, except I disagreed with him about TDAT. People still watch that movie and joke about trying to find Jake whenever there's bad weather. LOL! The movie, the NYC Public Library, and Jake are now reference points for any weather crisis we have. : )
I'm sorry. I think Tom Hardy is pretty brilliant. He's sort of a shapeshifter to me. Looks different in every movie. A really fine actor with a lot of range. But I just don't get all the Ryan Gosling love. IMO, he doesn't have a lot of range. He seems to always be a version of Ryan Gosling. When I think of him, I picture him just standing around staring with a blank expression a very few lines. It's only my opinion, and the last thing I want to do is bash other actors, but If you're putting Jake in a class with Hardy or Pacino, I just don't see Gosling in that group.
^^ He seems to always be a version of Ryan Gosling. When I think of him, I picture him just standing around staring with a blank expression a very few lines.^^
Barbara VanDenburgh @BabsVan 1m1 minute ago When interviewing Jake Gyllenhaal, how long should one wait before proposing marriage? 3 minutes? 5?
LOL.
Lainey is an idiot. So is the Celebitchy writer. Everytime s/he writes about Jake, s/he says s/he doesn't think about Jake all that much or some other dismissive comment. But then there's always another post and a similarly dismissive commentary. It's nonsense.
That Ryan Gosling thing, when I read reviews in our movie database, those top reviewers always say he is an excellent actor, I still try to figure out what's so great about him, but I still miss something extra in his acting, he actually has still the same expression, or two dimensional. I haven't seen all his movies, but e.g. in case of Tom Hardy or Russell Crowe I recognized immediately they are something special. But in one word I'd say he is simply boring. Then however I start to think, if I am blind, but can't help myself.
Bobbyanna, once again I agree with you. I'm a fan of Tom Hardy. As for Ryan Gosling, I've only liked Drive but even then I enjoyed the film more than just his performance. He's yet to really impress me so I don't get all the love for him. I still try to give his films a chance though. The blank expression description fits perfectly, Lol.
Lars and The Real Girl still my favorite performance of Ryan Gosling. He was also great in Half Nelson, Blue Valentine, Drive, hot in Crazy Stupid Love. I just love the guy.
Laura Linda Bradley @IamLauraBradley Actress Amazing @SouthpawMovie was the most raw honest & heartbreaking film I've seen since #americansniper #RachelMcAdams #JakeGyllenhaal #Southpaw
pascal leister @pascalleister Director saw @SouthpawMovie last night - as usual Jake Gyllenhaal is truly amazing.
I just watched a film about boxing + I was almost moved to tears. Can someone please give Jake Gyllenhaal a f*cking Oscar already? #Southpaw
Just got back from seeing #southpaw. Wow. Jake Gyllenhaal was mesmerizing. Thanks for the hookup @EBGamesCanada!
#Southpaw such an amazing movie! And meeting Rachel McAdams & Jake Gyllenhaal Bonus!! Go see this movie@baseballbubba8
Southpaw doesn't really do anything new, and its got many problems, but Jake's great performance and great fight sequences hold it afloat. / The movie overall aint great, but performance-wise, he's still on point.
Went to the Canadian premiere of #Southpaw earlier. Excellent film! Plus must add Jake Gyellenhaal & Rachel McAdams looked gorgeous tonight.
An award-worthy Gyllenhaal shines in #Southpaw. Thanks @GNCCanada for the tickets! A fun night was had by all.
#SOUTHPAW was such a good movie!! Red carpet w #JakeGyllenhaal & #RachelMcAdams was pretty cool! Thanks @eOnefilms !
Had the chance to attend Canadian premiere of #Southpaw tonight and loved it!!...but I'm not surprised since it was written by @sutterink
Jake Gyllenhaal shines in #Southpaw. Loved the intensity and beautifully shot fight sequences. @eOnefilms / I can't believe I didn't think of this earlier: Gyllenhaal delivers a knockout performance. #Southpaw @eOnefilms
Southpaw was a heartbreakingly beautiful movie of the ups & downs of boxer Billy Hope. Loved it. #SouthpawPremiere
This was a great interview I thought. I love the way he talks about Oona Laurence here. Sorry I couldn't make the link better. I haven't figured that out yet, Lol.
I'm starting to get the feel that Southpaw will better received by audiences than critics. Which isn't a bad thing, could help the box office.
“I know, isn't that funny?? Oh yeah, crazy, we look like little babies. That was such a great night, he was so sweet. We were practicing walking backstage because my dress was so huge, he was so worried he was going to trip and rip it, so we were walking back and forth, holding hands and practicing. He was so sweet, he was a true gentleman."
Thanks, Piruleta, for those tweets. I meant to do that and then lost track. I've seen mostly positive responses, which isn't surprising but is still nice!
And thanks for the video, Ann. That was a good interview. Posted it and other things in a new post (finally).
My team at work has an unhealthy obsession with #JakeGyllenhaal. We randomly cover people's desks with his photos for birthdays or vacations

Just a matter of (mostly) copy-and-paste then, eh? Nah.
Thanks, Anon!
Thanks for those links Piruleta!
Excited for the Toronto Southpaw premiere tonight :)
Also, there's a similar article on Celebitchy about Jake being too serious.

Whoa Ann what's with all the negative blog reports? Go to ONTD blog and read about Jake, it seems more balanced.
LOL I'm just sharing what I find. Doesn't mean that I agree with what I'm posting. I don't by the way.
I'll just report on the positive things that I find if that's what's preferred :)

Also that comparison Creed vs. Southpaw, I'd wish this Creed trailer is out after SP release, because only argument they have SP trailer gave out too much and Creed has already Rocky fan base. For me they are two cliché stories, where SP has ensemble of actors on completely different level. SV
I think Ryan Gosling gets far more credit than he's due, even though he can be great. But he hasn't done anything special IMO since Blue Valentine.
A photo of Jake from when he was in Tulum.
