Fingers crossed for everyone involved in tonight's performance. And those in Row A:
Row A at the Laura Pels Theatre has been made the "Splash zone" for Jake Gyllenhaal-play. Patrons who wish to get wet, may purchase those Tickets at the box office, only.
Would think two hours was not the worst time in the world to wait for someone you were a big fan of and really wanted to meet. People wait to see certain movies or get tickets for something many more hours than that. Annie
But have always thought if actors were in esp. emotional plays after it they would like to relax, and sometimes they might not feel like meeting people. They still may do it, but if they don't then they have that right. The waiting is up to the person doing it and to be upset because they didn't get "their way" they aren't the ones doing the work inside, and it is work. You do take your chances at these things. Annie
I have been searching for reviews for If There Is I Haven't found it yet, nothing do far. I'm a bit anxious, hopefully I will get to see it next month if I get my birthday wish!
There is a local channel called NY1 and they have a show called On Stage, I'll check it ou to see if they reviewed the play last night.
I bet Jake was nervous, who wouldn't be. I can't wait to read the reviews.
I don't think 2 hours is a long time to wait for someone to come out the stage door, especially on the first evening of the play. Takes time, between changing clothes, talking to the rest of his cast, the people behind the scenes. I have to wonder if they didn't go somewhere afterwards to eat.
I suppose we won't read any professional reviews of "If There Is ..." before the official opening on September 20th. I read somewhere that ususally critics are invited to watch a performance about one week before the official opening. The current preview shows are still subject to change.
You are correct Hagen, previews are just that, previews. The only reviews we will se are from people that saw it. The professionals wil weigh in later.
Nomention of it on In Stage so that's about right.
I think the run time at least 2 hrs or so Lily with no intermission.

I've been waiting for Jake Gyllenhaal for 2 hours. This is unbelievable. I've never waited this long at a stage door before. #pissedoff

Jake brushed his cheek against mine when he took a picture with me so I'm a happy camper now 😍 #worththewait

"If There Is ..." on Broadway World. No reviews of the acting so far, but people flat out hate the play.
Wow, those accounts differ greatly from the one I just posted. And they didn't all hate it. The Jake fan liked it a lot.
It sounds like a very British play. Don't know how Americans will react.
Also, did anyone get my "break a leg" joke here? :)
New post.
Oh, and nice picture!
