MCM

Sure, MCM usually stands for Man Candy Monday. Or Man Crush Monday. We're going with Memory Card Monday. Above is a photo posted on Facebook from a before-he-was-famous photoshoot. Probably this one. Below, an assortment of recently posted pics from the far and not-so-distant past.

Jake on Nightcrawler and what he's learned and what he's kept from other roles:

  1. Love the picture with Heath. Sigh.

Thanks for the new post, UV! Nice pics!

  2. UV - yes, I agree with you it should be ignored, I reacted just because it is still the same anon and it was not the first post in this way. But well, let's focus on award season, I am so curious how all these predictions will end.

Also have you seen this interview, I never did before?

    Great Pics, UV!

  4. I've hardly recognized Jake in the first picture.
Jake is #5 in "Hollywood Elsewhere's" ranking of likely "Best Actor" nominees, which is admittedly hardly a reliable indicator.

  5. Wells is an ass, but I'm happy to see someone predicting Jake. He needs a groundswell.

SV, we did post that interview, but I'm sure it got lost in the sea. I like to see the roundtable videos. It's fun to see how that works.

    Some fun tweets:

We have been given promo t shirts to wear at work that are literally just Jake Gyllenhaal's face and I am snuggling w it in bed right now

Does Jake gyllenhaal's new Broadway play have any nudity in it ? Asking for a friend.....

Every time jake gyllenhaal comes to my job, I die a bit inside. But I play it cool.

A few Jake NYC sightings today:

    Totally saw Jake Gyllenhaal 😍😍

you are lying. stop it. I hate you. 😢

he passed and i didn't realize who he was till was too far to chase him down.

I'm disappointed in you & wayyyy jealous

  6. Anna Kendrick ‘Pissed’ at Jake Gyllenhaal for Dropping Out of ‘Into the Woods’

    Getty Images

    Anna Kendrick is “pissed.”

In a new interview with The Daily Beast, the actress, who is playing Cinderella in the film adaptation of Into the Woods, reveals that she was upset to learn that Jake Gyllenhaal would not be a prince in the movie opening on Christmas day.

"I know! I was so pissed at Jake, let me tell you," Kendrick says of her former End of Watch co-star. "I texted him and said, 'You’re abandoning me, and I’m never going to forgive you!' "

Last year, it was reported that the Nightcrawler star signed on to share prince duties with Chris Pine – Gyllenhaal was to be Rapunzel’s suitor while Pine lusts after Cinderella – but later pulled out of Rob Marshall’s big screen version to focus on the indie thriller. And, after awhile, Kendrick finally cooled her temper.

"And then I saw the trailer to Nightcrawler and texted him again and said, 'Wow, you inspire me every day,' " she says, adding that "Billy [Magnussen, Gyllenhaal’s replacement in the film] is really fantastic."

  7. 'You’re abandoning me, and I’m never going to forgive you!'

hahaha She is so lovely. I hope they will work together again.

    ReplyDelete
  8. With all the publicity and buzz, I was getting pissed off all over again. But if it is true Jake was going to play Rapunzel's prince, then I am no longer annoyed. Though I think that is just a cover story.

Chris Pine is getting raves as Cinderella's prince, so it would have been more annoying if Jake, in a smaller role, had to play second fiddle to Captain Kirk.

I wonder if Jake answers Anna's texts :)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Aren't they announcing the Independent Spirit Award nominations today? I read that somewhere.

LOL! Anna. I agree she's adorable. Hope they can work together again, as well. : )

I'm glad if Jake dropped out of the role of Rapunzel's prince. Although, it seems like Chris Pine was announced after Jake dropped out. I could be remembering it wrong...; )

    Variety

    Yay Jake!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yea for Jake and Riz and Nightcrawlers

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yes! Congratulations to Jake, Dan, Riz and Dan's brother. Surprised Deakins didn't get nominated. And very sad that Rene Russo was ignored.

But hallelujah to no Imitation Game nods. There was a rumor that Harvey W had somehow managed to make TIG eligible. It's going to get enough Oscar love. They don't need the ISAs.

Interesting question now will be if Jake attends. If he gets an Oscar nomination, would he do the Saturday shows of Constellations and then fly on Sunday? Or cancel Saturday. Would he cancel Saturday just for the ISAs? And what about the BAFTAs, where I'd love to see him get some love.

    Ugh.

I always loved Bradley Cooper. He was my second-favorite thing about Alias. But I was screech if he gets nominated over Jake this year.

    ReplyDelete
  13. "I always loved Bradley Cooper. He was my second-favorite thing about Alias. But I was screech if he gets nominated over Jake this year."

You don't think the Oscars will show some American love and nominate all Americans this year in the lead male category. Bradley stop copying Jake's subway ride PR campaign LOL.

Congrats to Jake and Ahmed, still holding out for Bobbyana's first prediction.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm happy that Jake has been nominated (and the overall very strong result for "Nightcrawler"). It's good to see that his performance is acknowledged. And I'm pretty sure that awards and nominations are important to him.

    Surprised Deakins didn't get nominated.
Robert Elswit, but yes, I'm surprised, too.

The Hollywood Reporter: Gotham Awards: Uma Thurman to Host, Jake Gyllenhaal and Meryl Streep Among Presenters
Those evil bastards snubbed him, but he still shows up. Uh?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Congrats to Jake and NC, what great news!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Damn it. I meant Elswit. Also, I meant I "will" screech. I shouldn't post when excited, apparently.

Yeah, I assue Jake knows Dan or Riz is going to win, so that's the award he'll present. Also, he has to campaign while he can. (He did a BAFTA NY screening last week, btw.)

And yes, Cooper, get your own campaign ideas!

    ReplyDelete
  17. BTW, Jake has been nominated twice. The second nomination is for "Best First Feature" (award given to the director and the producers).

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yay!!!
for Jake Riz Dan and all the awardscrawlers!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Remember when Jake was rumored for The Stand. More McBongo.

Oh, well. It sounds like nonsense. And four films of it could be dreadful.

    Nightcrawler DVD and video releaseinfo:

This is nice, if I'm reading/google translating/high-school French translating properly. They describe Jake as the nicest press junketeer ever: Replying in a soft voice to the same question a hundred times, laughing, joking, posing for selfies, charming and sharing his chocolates.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Great success and congrats for Indie nominations.

UV what does that broadcast critics note from Jake mean? Nominations are going out in December? Is this something else?SV

  29. Just Jared: Jake Gyllenhaal looks so hot with his sexy scruff while greeting fans outside of The Late Show with David Letterman studio on Tuesday evening (November 25) in New York City. The 33-year-old actor was on the program to promote his recent movie Nightcrawler and his upcoming Broadway show Constellations.

    LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  31. You know what I like though? I read in several articles that Jake doesn't campaign for any awards, he just quietly receives appreciations. This is what I like about whole award stuff, because it is more clear and more deserved in my eyes, than Cumberbatch who is all around with Weinstein behind his back.

On the other hand Weinstein will be my best friend next year while supporting SP. :-))). But anyway any nom for NC sounds me kosher, because it seems like pure performance appreciation and it is not always the case. SV

    ReplyDelete
  32. Letterman was great. I love it when Dave is enthusiastic about Jake's projects. And salmoning - who knew?

Jake will be on Kelly and Michael on December 5.

I hope he'll buy new trousers in celebration of his Independent Spirit Award nominations.

You're such an optimist, Hagen :)

I do have to say that Jake's hair is on point these days, especially when it isn't overly styled.

  73. Lainey has pictures of Jake from today, full beard. And I see Lainey's point about Fuqua acting as if he discovered Jake's manhood.

I think Jake has already shown he has "balls". I know Jake considers Fuqua a good friend and maybe Fuqua meant it "role" wise but his comments dismissed Jake's other roles old and new. Jarhead, BBM, Prisoners and Nightcrawler, I guess Jake was just getting his feet wet for the more manly roles? Geesh.

What a shame they don't announce also nominations, just winners. Usually they match the most with Oscar winners. It would be interesting to see nominees as well. Timoty Spall is surprise for me btw. But he seems quite strong player in the award season and also David Oleyowo.

Congrats to Jake for Sat. nomination, looking forward to Golden Globe announcement. I still hope in nomination in drama category. SV

  75. Congratulations to Jake and the rest of Nighcrawler for the Satellite and Spirit nominations.

    ReplyDelete
  76. SV, the biggest surprise for me was to see Birdman snubbed.
Spall was surprised too, but I read that NY loves Mike Leigh. He always wins something there, so ... but as said, Redford won there and was not nominated for the Oscar.
Unbroken is with 50% on the RT. This was the favorite to win, oh, well ...
I bet it will receive manynominations at the GG.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Monica I don't understand that Unbroken mess around. It was not even seen yet in US, just few releases outside and they predict director, picture and lead actor nominations. I am not surprise about 50% on RT, because it is too pretentious in advance, I am afraid it will be too cliché movie with score, which plays with emotions. I think Boyhood is a dark horse, 100% RT. SV

  78. Fuqua's comments are annoying, have been annoying and will probably continue to be annoying. Let's just hope he has a defter hand behind the camera.
