Tudo vai ficar bem

On Friday, everything will finally be okay for Monica and the rest of Brazil. They will finally find out:

Hopefully the movie will be an explosive success, not a bomb:

  1. Monica, let me know if that's a bad translation of "Everything is going to be okay" in Portuguese!

  3. SC in Brazil finally!

I like thi SC poster and what a cool gif!

  4. What a cool post this is!!! Yaaay, monica!! I think we should break out the virtual champagne. : )

    ReplyDelete
  5. Silly question, but when they screen SC in Brazil, will they do it with sub-titles, or will they dub it? I hope you can see the English version, monica. Not sure how that works.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Ill be anxious to hear your review Monica

  7. YAY! Hi Monica, Source Code is finally coming to you!
I hope you love it as much as I do. I'd seriously not enjoyed a Jake movie for a while until SC.
(I thought the reason was my physicality--I feel like a dry turd most of the time, and that feeling didn't help my movie going experiences at all. :lol :)
I enjoy all of Jake's movies, but I didn't become as engrossed in them as I did with BBM and some of his other movies. Perhaps Jake felt the same way...who knows...he mentioned in an interview how much he enjoyed working with Duncan and how making SC reminded him of working with Ang Lee on BBM.
love to you all, Monica, A toast to you, have fun at the movie!
    sass
I like the translation UV...it hit the spot.

  8. SC is a great movie Monica, would love to read your review.

I think it finally premieres in Japan next moth, Summit had such a weird release date overseas for this movie.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I can't wait to hear what you think Monica.

Does Brazil dub or have subtitles. I hate dubbing, I know some countries in Europe do one or the other. I am going to tell my friend in Brazil about Source code coming (she is not a Jake fan but it certainly is a movie worth seeing even if you're not. maybe I can convert her ;)

  13. I know that you are anxious to see Source Code Monica, I hope it will be worth the wait for you, it has become one of my favorite Jake films.

Time zone? Jake is in the same city as me and I never seem to run into him when he is here!

  14. Can't wait to hear your review Monica, I just hope that not too many people saw it online to effect the BO there.

I wish they used this SC poster here, so much cooler!

Hey UV do you think Jake doing Man Vs Wild would count as having experience to do the Everest movie?

    Lily

    ReplyDelete
  16. I saw that, UV! Jake as a mountain climber of MT. Everest? Liman himself is a climber. So he wil ltry all kinds of stuff for authenticity. : ( The very idea of Jake doing his own climbing gets my stomach in knots.
I hope they pick...Ryan Reynolds. LOLOL!

    Actually this sounds like
127 Hours with snow, except the hero disappears and they find his bones years later. In the mountains.

  18. Not to spam but the New York Food & Wine Fest is going on
from 9/29 - 10/2 in the Meatpacking District, and other places, I guess. Lots of foodies around.

Chica, I have a feeling one day....

    ReplyDelete
  19. There's a rain delay in the Bronx Bobbyanna but I'm rooting for the Tigers!!!!

I saw that UV, let's see if Liman can get this going. O love your comparison to 127 hours Bobbyanna!

    ReplyDelete
  20. It's raining here too, and chilly.

The New Yorker Festival and the New York Film Festival are all happening this weekend too. Wish I was there. : (

    ReplyDelete
  21. I always seem to be broke around this time of year and never gets a chance to attend any of those festivals:(

Last year this time I attended the New Yorker Q&A with Jake and D. Denby, I can't believe it's been a year!

It's still raining pretty hard but they say that they will wait it out but i can't see them using the starting pitchers.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I just checked out the NYFF FB page and they are having some free events this weekend including a chance to meet and talk to the selection committee. Of course you have to show up early for seating but I may check it out.

Sounds like they are taking the tarp off the field at Skankee stadium, they are 1 -1.

    Go Tigers!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Chica, why aren't you at this party? :)

Spotted: Jake Gyllenhaal and Fabrizio from the Strokes. Spotted also: Asian girl furiously texting about it, e.g. me.

I didn't read the whole article about the Everest movie, but if it's a good story, I'd love to see Jake do it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The story is interesting, but I'm not a fan of Doug Liman!

    Adam Levine
What a lovely thing it is to wake up in Brazil!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Aww, that's cool, Monica. And thanks for confirming that the translation was correct. I hope you enjoy SC when you get to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I bet Bear Grylls wuold love to make his acting debut as the hero of 127 hrs with snow. : )

Yay, monica! Adam's in Brazil !

    ReplyDelete
  27. Fabrizio used to date Drew Barrymore...and Kristen Dundst.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I know the Everest story and it's not like 127 hours - so much more to it.
Always thought it would make a good movie and hope that does come about.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Maroon Five will be tomorrow at Rock In Rio. Coldplay too.

Fabrizio is a Brazilian. He's very arrogant!

    ReplyDelete
  30. never heard of him before

    ReplyDelete
  31. Last year this time I attended the New Yorker Q&A with Jake and D. Denby, I can't believe it's been a year!

Chica, so fast. You gave us a great report.

I think next week will be the premiere of My Week With Marilyn in NY Film Festival. I wonder if Jake will attend.

    ReplyDelete
  32. That would be nice if Jake attended Michelle's movie premiere.

    Lily

    ReplyDelete
  33. Lily, sorry, I forgot about your question. I doubt the Man v. Wild stint would be the tipping point, but it certainly shows that Jake is up for some danger.

I don't know anything about Fabrizio, Monica. But the Strokes seem to have disappeared for the most part.

Yay, SC has finally opened in Brazil, can't wait to hear what you thought about it Monica.

I think Jake has just a it of experience with Bear Grylls if he wants to do that Mt. Everest movie!

Glad to hear that Jake is having such a good time in NY :)

  38. Just found this on Twitter:

  42. According to my other twitter news feeds the Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan is packed with protestors...and police. Twitpics show a bit of a mess. Well, not a bit. There are a lot of protestors.

    ReplyDelete
  43. LOL at the frenzy of women noticing Jake. Hope he enjoyed lunch. He worked for it:

jake gyllenhaal sighting at Angelica Kitchen. Dude rode here on his bike in the rain.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh and good luck to the protesters. We are the 99%.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I hope Jake stayed far away from those protesters.

I wonder what kind of bike he had. We know he rides a motorcycle in LA.

I wonder if he'll be spending the holidays in NY (and if Atticus is with him or someone is watching him in LA.

    Lily

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yep UV, we ARE THE 99%. The Union was supposed to join the protestors today.
Bloomy (nickname for our mayor) is going to s*it bricks. Oh NO, not HIS city filled with protesters on our BB! I love it, makes me feel young again... this has to start someplace.

I went to see 50-50 instead...wonderful movie...always did like JGL... ever since 10 Things.

Monica you're in for a really good SC-Jake time. SC is my most favorite movie of his in like forever.

Bobbyanna, fingers xed we don't get rained out again tonight. NYC looks eerily like last night...Roads are just as packed as last night... our sky looks almost the same as last night but the temp is much cooler...62 degrees.

love and hugs to UV and all me babbling sisters,

    Everything is going be OK!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hey, sass! I almost went to see 50/50. Hope the Tigers get lucky tonight.!

Aww, UV! In the rain? : )

We're definitely part of the 99%!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. The Hobbit mayor of NY (Yeah, it's an insult to Sam and Frodo!) Is fuming about the protests. He had the nerve to say that the proteters were protesting sagainst people making $40,000 - $50,000!!

I think that Jake wouldn't have any problems with those protesters Liliy:)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm watching the show of Maroon Five and just realized that Adam Levine is hot!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Good for you, monica!!! My younger daughter saw them last year and she was also impressed with Adam!

Yankees mopped the floor with the Tigers tonight...: (

    ReplyDelete
  51. Lets clarify, I'm not in the show. Was shown by the television the show of Maroon Five at Rock In Rio.
Here in Brazil it's normal to be shown live performances of international bands and singers.

    Adam Levine's wonderful. Great show!

    Go Yankees!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Monica, we have to work on your rooting interests :)

Glad you enjoyed the Maroon 5 show.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Chica, the "Hobbit" mayor of NY...perfect name for him. I'm surprised at what's happening with him and the protesters. So he says that, $40,000-$50.000 are the salaries being protested about...he has it all WRONG. It's the bailed out banks who won't hire anyone, period, or help small business, who don't seem grateful that they were bailed... or for the help they received...and now they sit on trillions of dollars not knowing what is really on their books.
    nitenite again
    sass
I remember distinctly Bush saying he was going to bail them--the financial companies, mostly banks-- out with that $750 Billion, no questions asked regulations about who would pay it back and when...city is really rilled up about that.
too sleepy to make more any sense. remember how he locked up city protesters when we got the Republican National convention...it twas ridiculous

  54. Sting had a huge 60th b'day concert @ the Beacon theatre, benefitting the Robin Hood Foundation last night, and Jake was
reported as one of the celebrities attending. Others included Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson, Darren Aronofsky, and Bennett Miller.

There was so much action on stage, the who's who in the audience was very secondary. Robert Downey, Jr. and his wife were there and Robert performed. He sang. : )

Bruce Springsteen, Mary J. Blige, Rufus Wainright, Stevie Wonder,Herbie Hancock, Branford Marsalis, Lady GaGa, etc.

I'm hoping we'll find out more information soon. They raised over $3 million.

monica, the Tigers are my home team. : (

    ReplyDelete
  55. Not to worry, sass. You're making sense. : )

    ReplyDelete
  56. I remember what happened when the RNC came to NY Sass, I despise Bloomberg.

700 protesters were arrested on the Brooklyn Bridge yesterday, he is determined to silence this protest.

I was so rooting for the Tigers yesterday Bobbyanna:(

Happy to hear that Jake was involved in fund raising for the Robinhood foundaation!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Forgot to mention, Billy Joel also performed for Sting, along with an opera singer, and 32 bagpipers. : )Harvey Weinstein was also in the audience.

    ReplyDelete
  58. OMG.....Jake's eyes....so blue and clear....
Seems like Jake stays NY and is having fun:)

I start to think maybe Jake won't have any new project next year.(no~~~~I really hope I am wrong)
I have no interest in recent movies except Moneyball and The Help....

Guess I am the only Yankees fan here.LOL

Oh look, it's the fake "rightwinger" pretending to just come across a Jake fanblog discussing "liberal" politics.

Why don't you fess up anon. and tell us the real reason you are posting here, to stir shit or maybe things are dead on your own blog.

BTW, the WSJ is covering this growing protest movement and last I heard it's own by Murdoch.

I saw the twicpic UV and it's cute! read the WSJ article, she has some beautiful pieces, I wonder if Jake was tempted to purchase something?

Jake rarely makes public political comments but I kinda wish in this case he would have said something.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Office of Nancy PelosiOctober 3, 2011 at 9:47 AM

You can delete the first part of my comments if you want to UV, I was just really annoyed at those comments.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I agree, OONP - with everything :)

That photo is so cute. And the commentary is, too.

He could have just said something like "I don't know all the details, but I understand the anger and the passion."

For those who can't see the article or who get the annoying WSJ "Subscribe now" message:

Irene Neuwirth, a jewelry designer, launched a TriBeCa popup shop Friday, a cavernous space in which her wares, priced from $1,500 to $175,000, were displayed among gold, treelike statues designed in collaboration with architect Marc Fornes. Ms. Neuwirth said she expects customers to check out the space and "get to know the brand more" rather than spend a lot of money.

The actor Jake Gyllenhaal was in attendance. But aside from him, the dance floor was filled with boldface names from the indie music world, including Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig, Grizzly Bear singer/songwriter Ed Droste, Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti and the singer/harpist Joanna Newsom.

Last weekend, Mr. Droste married long-term boyfriend Chad McPhail on Cape Cod, he said. (That's the indie music equivalent of the Kardashian/Humphries union.) "The exclusive on it is in my memory," Mr. Droste, wearing a simple gold wedding band, joked.

Mr. Gyllenhaal, nonchalantly mingling with the musicians, casually leaned against a wall and chatted up a woman. (He declined to have his photo taken.) Asked who the actor might be jewelry shopping for, Ms. Neuwirth said, "Oh, nobody here!"

Mr. Gyllenhaal was asked if he supports the Wall Street protesters, but he only laughed and shrugged. Pressed for further comment, he zipped his lips with a finger, still laughing.

    ReplyDelete
  72. thanks, Uv.
It would be interesting to know what he thinks.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Found a little something about the jewelry designer from the LA Times 9/2/11:
"Venice-based jewelry designer and CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund finalist Irene Neuwirth is known for her opulent and vividly colored creations, often seen on celebs such as Zoe Saldana, Reese Witherspoon, Rashida Jones and Iman. "

I think homebase is her studio on Broadway in Venice, CA. So Jake may actually know her. I like the way she laughed and said," Oh, nobody here!"

    Thanks for reprinting the article,UV.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Yes thanks UV, I had a hard time accessing it. Her jewelry is beautiful.
I hope we get dome pics from the Sting concert!

    ReplyDelete
  75. UV I couldn't see the 'cute' photo you posted from twitter.

I think Jake had nothing to say about the protests and I think he's wisely staying out of it. We know how many celebs have gotten themselves in hot water by commenting on something they didn't need to. I'm sure he has an opinion but would rather not publically comment.

Maggie's birthday is coming up in Nov, maybe he might pick up some jewelry for her.

    Lily

    ReplyDelete
  76. Today, I'll watch Source Code.

Woody Harrelson replaces Jake in Now You See Me:
Harrelson replaces Jake Gyllenhaal's mentalist character, who's "known for his Jedi-style mind tricks."

In Now You See Me, Eisenberg, Fisher, Laurent and Harrelson play a magic quartet called the Four Horsmen, who rob banks during their magic act. Ruffalo fills the role of the FBI agent in hot pursuit of these robbers, and calls on the help of a former magician (Freeman) to catch them in the act.

    ReplyDelete
  77. My own thoughts on Jake's no comment? I think the setting didn't lend itself to a political discussion. It wouldn't have ended with a simple, "Yes I do/no I don't." We already know Jake doesn't talk in soundbites. : )
He usually gives thoughtful answers to most serious questions. He didn't seem to want to draw any attention to himself, but to keep the focus on the exhibit. I don't think he really cares about whether or not his beliefs get him "into hot water." Based on what I know of his history.

    ReplyDelete
  78. That movie cast is shaping up nicely. Too bad. :( Hope you enjoy SC, monica. Looking forward to your thoughts. : )

    ReplyDelete
  79. As I said above, it would have been easy enough to say something without getting into a big discussion. And he could have cut off any further discussion easily, as he did the question itself. This is such a big deal, and it's happening right there, it's just disappointing - to me - that Jake didn't say anything.

Lily, I'm not sure why you can't see the photo - it's there. Maybe you have to be logged in to twitter?

It will be interesting to see how NYSM comes out. Let's hope Jake has something better in mind.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'd never seen that video before, Monica. Thanks. PoP was good to us. Too bad it wasn't better for Jake.
