Time to get wild. Let's do a live blog/commentary as we watch the show. I'll add clips as soon as they are available. Hopefully soon, for those who can't watch the episode.

  12. Ever the gourmand, Jake manages to sneak in the chocolate.

He was pretty good at digging that hole, sass. The Will Ferrell joke was funny.

It's hard to follow all the tweets but some are pretty funny.

  23. No question. That shit was real. And scary.

Did Bear make a Brokeback joke when they were digging the cave? I thought I heard the word "brokeback."

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah, he did, UV and Jake was hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I didn't hear one but may if I can stay

  28. Right bobbyanna...hella ride. Times give are for TWC NYC.

  29. Yeah, Bear said something like, "This reminds me of a couple of scenes from BBM."

It's too bad even he had to make that joke.

    ReplyDelete
  30. For those looking to make Brokeback Mountain jokes, Bear did you the honor about halfway through as they built a snow save in which to spend the night. Jake tried to play off the joke, but I wonder if he enjoys knowing he’ll hear that type of humor until he’s dead in the grave.

  31. Of course, the author of that article couldn't resist making them either. So juvenile. I get the feeling Jake was not thrilled abbot it. Of course he will never be able to say that or the loony tunes haters will crucify him.

  32. just got home from work and anxiously awaiting for 9pmm so i can watch MAN VS WILD

    ReplyDelete
  33. This was GREAT! I was on the edge of my seat when Jake made that crossing. And then they stayed in that snow cave they built. I don't think Jake was offended by the BBM joke (I couldn't hear it all but I don't think Bear meant it as anything but a joke)

My eyes fell out when they took their shirts off. OF course it all makes sense when you need to keep your clothes dry. Yeah Jake take it off!

I hope Steph at IHJ will put up a video so everyone can see this ep.

A man who brings Chocolate! yes! I was ready to step up and make the ultimate sacrifice and keep Jake warm :D

Jake said this was the beginning of a great friendship. He impresses me as the type of person that once your friends with him it's a life long thing (I think)

I was taping it as I watched so afterwards I went back to my fave part (shirtless) my friend's husband rolled his eyes (He was impressed with the gorge crossing on that rope, well so was I but I can't keep the shirtless scenes out of my mind so I went back to drool all over again)

  34. Hi there Lily:) and all,
UV, I'm watching it again and Bear did make a BBM reference during the time they were making the snow hole.

Jake may get tired of it, poor baby, but the BBM references are stuck to him for the foreseeable future, unless or until he makes another more critical movie about another intriguing subject.

Human Sexuality, being what it is, always peaks one's interest no matter what...and unlike some men, Jake usually takes it in stride...good on-ya Jake. Jake looked so hot stripped to his waist to preserve his clothes in a dry manner.
    love you all,
    nite nite

  36. I don't think Jake was offended; I think he was annoyed. And who could blame him?

This was a cute tweet from a father:

My 12 y/o daughter LOVES Jake Gyllenhaal so we're watching Men vs. Wild. She just told me that she's a Gyllenhaalic.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Nonsense. I don't think Jake'll "be hearing it until he's dead in his grave."

The people on Twitter & FB are repeating something they think is funny. They back up when they're challenged. If there's no rebuttal it gains currency, and emboldens the jerks. It can't be ignored.

I find when I've challenged people they'll back off. There are a few haters who get mean, but most people are embarrassed.

These are homophobes using the BBM "joke" as a way of using sexual orientation as an insult. It's wrong.

When you have an opportunity to challenge them or demonstrate you disagree, they back down. Plus others can see that they've been called on their ignorance.

It's impossible to call out every single insult, but I've managed to respond to quite a few tweets.

These people think their humor is cool, so when someone tells them they're pretty ridiculous, they get embarrassed.

If one person goes on the record as standing up, others get braver and more people are willing to speak up.

Jake's people were pretty agressive about dealing with this crap in an indirect, but effective manner during the roll out to SC. But then they dropped the ball.
They need to get back on the job.

BBM jokes are meant as an insult no matter how well intentioned they seem. Even Bear. He was doing it bcz he was self conscious.

  38. Yes, UV, annoyed is a good way to describe Jake's reaction. Stale, tedious and lame.

  39. Watching the repeat - Jake's smile after crossing that gorge was amazing.

Watching man vs wild and Jake Gyllenhal is a guest on this trip.. Bear is putting this man through the ringer! He should fire his agent!

Much respect to Jake Gyllenhal. Well done. #manvswild

Jake Gyllenhal will smile about anything. Bear just said "carcass failure." This show is confusing with it's attractive vs. gross factor.

OMG man vs. wild is crazy crossing on that rope. Much respect to Jake Gyllenhall. He had a no shirt moment too.

I'm coming out of my skin with anxiety watching Jake Gyllenhall cross this river gorge on a rope!

Damn you jake gyllenhall. Not only do you have rugged good looks and the charm of 007 but you kept up with bear grylls on te frozen tundra
