All Princes, great and small

So before the D23 hoopla, we learned that Jake Gyllenhaal and the rest of the Prince of Persia cast would be immortalized - or you know, just commercialized - in a line of toys. What we didn't realize was that one site might have actually snagged a picture of the Prince. Not sure where they got it, but we're trying to find out to make sure it's the real deal. Sure looks it:

For comparison:

Looks like they got a lot of the detail just right:

The hands aren't quite to scale, as in the D23 mannequin, but the face is really well done. As is the body armor:

From miniature to gigantor, Celebutopia has the PoP official photos in very large size:

Those did not come out as large as they can be - check out this link and click for the biggest version. Get your frames ready :)

Nice video review of Jake's career - thanks to Monica for the link:

  2. I think Jake's toy Prince's much better than I expected! I sure hope it's out for Christmas! I can pretend I'm buying gifts for someone!:)

    Gorgeous pics! Thanks.

  3. I really hope this is the real thing. Because they did a good job on the face, especially his eyes. We'll soon find out.

Wow, it looks better than I thought it would! They got a lot of the details right, I really like it! I cringed a bit when I heard about the to figures.

    The pictures are stunning.

Thanks for the tweet monica, we should be getting more once filming starts!

  5. I never knew quite what to think about the action figures. Toys aren't really my thing. But this one looks pretty good!

Monica, sounds like that twitterer has heard Jake and Anne are in town but hasn't had the pleasure of a sighting yet.

I hope the Pittsburgh tweeters do as well as all those DC folks did this summer :)

  6. I'm not into toy figures either but these look damn good! If they are fake then they did great job.

Yes I do hope the tweeters are as good as DC. The Philly tweets were so-so. I thnk that was because of where they were filming in Philly, Drexel and that Reese was wasn't staying in Philly when she wasn't filming. You get a lot more tweets if you are filming outdoors a lot and staying at a hotel like they were in DC.

  7. I'm not into toys but I wouldn't mind one of those, also why do pics of Jake look 100x better (and that's saying something) when they are so big, thanks UV.

  9. Ooh, thanks, Monica. Lucky Jordan Mechner. Though I guess he did, you know, write the thing so he deserves to see the preview. I hope we get to see it soon!

  10. Some info on filming location.

And from twitter, it seems Jake had dinner at a small Peruvian restaurant.

  11. I hope the figures from Pop are out by Christmas too Bobbyanna, we can all get to play with Jake!!

The figure really looks like Jake, very good detail, i'm impressed.

Thanks Monica, I can't wait to see the trailer on the big screen.

And it just so happened that Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon were two tables over from us, who were later joined by Maggie, her hubby and the kids.

  14. Do they normally have "action figures" out 5 months before a movie is out, tho it would be nice if they had them out by Christmas. Haven't seen any date set for them tho.

The action figures look good, they actually look like Jake unlike some action figures based on movie characters. I thought I heard the figures were coming out next year, a month before Pop opens in May. If so, then this preview is early.

I can't get over how stunning these photos are of Jake and Gemma, they almost look like paintings,

Thanks for the link to that video Monica and the imdb/sighting of Jake UV!

  16. I should have said thanks for the link to the restaurant Jake was spotted at from twitter!:

  17. Great video, Monica.I put it in the post in case people miss your link. Thanks!

Once again, it makes me wish we could see more unaired video of Jake. There were some snippets of interviews and behind the scenes stuff I'd never seen.

  18. Bendable Jake!! I always liked action/toy figures. They did a good job on this, can't wait to see the whole set. That video of Jake contained a few gems that I have never seen, thanks so much Monica and UV. Love him on the red carpet at Cannes, he looks just perfect. Didn't get a chance to comment on the US tennis pics, that first picture of him is just heavenly. Loved reading all the tweets about J&R in Brooklyn.

Ha, Jake is filming on campus just like Reese did in Philly, well for one day at least, thanks for the link Monica.

  19. MacFarland rocks, this looks great!! Not cheap looking either and the figure actually looks like Jake!!!

That video is wonderful, so much that I have not seen before. I love listening to Jake and I can't wait until he hits the talk shows to promote Brothers.

Looks like Jake is busy at work. I love the supporting cast of this film, it sounds like it's going to be really funny.

Saw a few pics of Reese in L.A. I think her movie wrapped. Love how they timed their films for their schedules. I think Agent K said that give it about 2 weeks before she misses Mr. G!!

  23. Dick Cook Steps Down as Chairman of Walt Disney Studios.

In a surprise announcement, Dick Cook said Friday that he is stepping down as chairman of the Walt Disney Studios, effectively immediately.

"I have loved every minute of my 38 years that I have worked at Disney ... from the beginning as a ride operator on Disneyland's steam train and monorail to my position as chairman of The Walt Disney Studios," Cook said. "To wrap up my Disney experience in a neatly bundled statement is close to impossible. But what I will say is, during my time at the Studio, we have achieved many industry and company milestones."

Disney president and CEO Robert Iger hailed Cook saying, "Throughout his distinguished 38-year Disney career, Dick Cook's outstanding creative instincts and incomparable showmanship have truly enriched this company and significantly impacted Disney's great legacy. We thank Dick for his tremendous passion for Disney, and his many accomplishments and contributions to the Walt Disney Studios, including a very promising upcoming film slate. On behalf of everyone at Disney, we wish him the best with all the future has to offer."

So I wonder what this means for the future of PoP and its possible franchise since I'm sure it was Dick Cook who greenlighted the project in the beginning. I hope the next chairman loves PoP and Jake.

  25. I would imagine Disney have had their plans for POP already set and nothing is going to change.

  26. Interesting news, FL. I got the impression PoP is a partnership btwn Disney and Bruckheimer. Maybe if Bruckheimer signed a deal for one or two sequels, based on the success of the first one, similar to the deal he worked for POTC, then it might not matter at all.

I would think the only way PoP would get scrapped is if Jerry Bruckheimer walks away and/or the movie tanks. But then, I always thought Bruckheimer was regarded as some kind of H'wood Deity bcz he makes such huge, profitable "tentpole" movies.
Thirty-eight years is a good run.

Thanks for that clip of the BBM shirts at Autry Monica, I have heard and read about it. What a wonderful tribute.

Love the Star video of Jake, lot's of footage that I have not seen brfore, thanks so much.

Interesting news on Cook FL, that seems to have come out of left field.I don't think it will effect Pop/Jake, Cook may have greenlighted the project but I think Bruckheimer has more of an influence with Disney.

Thanks for that clip Monica. The shirts are so iconic.

Cook steps down from Disney? That is major news but Jerry is the brains behind Pop and with his track record with Disney, I think that everything will be fine.

  29. That's odd, that sighting at Vinegar Hill says Maggie, Peter and the kids (plural) joined Jake and Reese. Who besides Ramona would be with Maggie and Peter?

I saw that link about the vehicles, as well and will repost. I had no idea that was the time period for the flick.

Lots of excited tweets from Pittsburgh - it's fun. The news about Dick Cook is sort of sad, and I hope not a bad omen for PoP.

    New post, peeps!
