Happy Birthday, Heath!

I hope somewhere, somehow, Heath knows how much he is missed.

And a picture I've never seen before, paired with one of my favorites of Jake and Kirsten from the same night, at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2004:

  2. God I hate seeing pics of Heath during his last few months! Anyone could see that something was wrong, but none of us could see how it would end.... sighs.....

Naomi was/is so beautiful. And classy. There are pics somewhere of Heath and Jake talking that night at one of the post-Oscar parties. You can just see Kirsten in the background on some of them. That was 2 or 3 months before BBM filming started.

  3. I almost didn't put the last two up, but then that felt weird, too.

    I love those Jake/Heath pre-BBM pics.

Sigh. All that promise, some of it fulfilled and so much sadly never to be.

  4. I agree UV,

The saddest thing about Heath's death was how much promise he had. He could have been one of the great ones. In that way the only comparable death would be River Phoenix.

I think, unlike when he died, today we should celebrate what he was. Myself, I will watch one of his films this weekend to honor him.

  5. So much talent and such a beautiful man.

I love the picture of him and Naomi.

I was looking forward to the TDK this summer but just watching the trailer and seeing pictures from the movie, a sense of sadness has now taken over.

  6. Sorry, on the last post, I missed Nancy Pelosi's post about the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King.

I watched an inadequate documentary on CNN last night. The focus was on the shooter and the shooting, but the reporting was subpar.

The most poignant moment was when Rep. John Lewis, who was once the chairman of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee, recalled the assassination of RFK, Jr. merely two months after Dr. King's. Forty years later, he broke down crying, saying it was "too much."

On a day when we're thinking of what Heath could have done, it's even sadder to imagine what the world might be like if MLK had lived.

  7. Thanks for this beautiful thread, UV. It's been overcast and rainy, today. Very fitting, I guess.

"On a day when we're thinking of what Heath could have done, it's even sadder to imagine what the world might be like if MLK had lived."
    Agree.

I miss our sweet, beautiful boy very much. Still trying to get used to the past tense.

  8. Oh. In the picture with Heath and Naomi, why does it make me think of young Errol Flynn? :)

  9. A very nice tribute. Happy birthday Heath. RIP, we miss you.

I love the pics of Heath and Jake from that awards show. Jake looks at Heath with such affection...sigh.

Sigh. All that promise, some of it fulfilled and so much sadly never to be.

So true, UV, so true. :(

I was thinking of MLK Jr. too, UV.

  10. I guess we know why that story about the houses was taken down. I guess Jake really IS a privacy nut.

In all seriousness, I thought it was over the line to post that sort of information. Not that it stopped me from looking up the houses once I had the info.

Anyway, I'm guessing the Nailed folks are looking for different houses as we speak.

  11. Maybe he has reached his limit after the LAX pap frenzy. Understandable.

  12. Even though that realestate stalker blog more than once mentioned where Jake lived, there was no address given just the area, same with Reese's new ranch.

That article was out of line and stupid to mention the actual address.

I'm not surprised it was yanked.

Thanks for the post and the beautiful pictures of Heath, he will be missed.

  13. Jake will have to look for another house for their safety.

    Never forget you, heath!

  14. UV, for the past two months, I've been looking at a lot of pictures of Heath. Some of them I never saw before.

I like to look at pictures of Jake, too. A lot. Over and over again, I marvel at the genius of Ang Lee for picking these two young men for BBM.

He was exactly right. They did project a kind of innocence and purity, and sensuality, but they also were able to convey that, I think, because they are just remarkably beautiful people, inside and out, and it just radiates in a very unique way.

I know I'm probably getting kind of maudlin, (!) but the combination, the chemistry of Jake and Heath together, is something I don't think can ever again be repicated. It was a moment in time that's gone forever now, but it was absolutely magic.

  15. Evening everyone,
I miss Heath so much especially when I'm downtown for anything, especially If I am near Soho.
He will always be missed by me and my family. I am also looking forward to TDK; I'm glad he left it for all of us.

  19. Given the intense emotions Jake and BBM (in particular) seem to inspire, both positive and negative....... I'm guessing Jake has every reason to be a "privacy nut". There are a lot of nut jobs out there.......

I was rather appalled that where he would be staying in Columbia was made public.

  20. Suvee, I totally agree. Considering what is written about Jake around the internet who knows what has happened to him in private. Threats or otherwise. We know he and Heath got threats during BBM promotion and awards season. I would think Jake has every right to be a privacy nut. You guys said, they mentioned the actual address and it is not in a gated community. Sure Reese's new house was mentioned but that is in a secure area unlike this or where Jake may live in L.A.

  21. What a beauiful post and yes UV, all that promise unfulfilled

  22. OT: News on Fargut North, the movie not the play:

And we all know that Jkae did not make his broadway debut with this play, more missinformation being posted and probably repeated.

  23. Love the b&w pics of Heath and Naomi and Jake and Kiki, sigh.

What a talent, so sad that he is gone. Looking forward to TDK this summer.

  24. Bobbyanna, did you mean you hadn't seen some of these before? I did try to find ones that haven't been posted or that I hadn't seen, so I'm glad if it worked.

And I agree that Jake has real reason to be concerned for his privacy. You'll see in the next post that he seems more concerned about it than ever :(

Hope you're feeling better today, sass!

  25. Feels weird to lock this post but weirder still to talk about trivial stuff in it. So new post.

Thanks to the folks who commented on it, on a sad day.
