At a certain point you realise there’s always someone more interesting, talented and ready to do a role than you are – and you won’t get every role you go for. All I want right now is to hone my skills and become a better actor, not dream about wearing a cape. But you never know.
After nude scenes in Brokeback Mountain and Love And Other Drugs, are you now impervious to embarrassment on screen?
Do you think there is one person on Earth impervious to embarrassment? And do you think it would be me? That’s a rhetorical question, and I’ll leave you with that.

Interesting is that if he had been chosen for Batman, he wouldn't have acted in Brokeback Mountain, because the filming of Batman Begins occurred between February and December of 2004.
But he would have worked with Heath Ledger anyway.
Ledger didn't audition for the Joker.

What makes them so great together — aside from a crackling, hot-headed chemistry that puts most rom-com duos to shame — is the selfless symbiosis of their shared screen time as actors. While less confident performers might have been tempted to jostle for position, Peña and Gyllenhaal do nothing that could undermine the essential integrity of their characters’ friendship. Ironically, this even-handed approach and generosity of performance is likely to mean that neither will score the awards recognition that they deserve, with showier, needier turns (take a bow, Joaquin Phoenix) swaying the voters.
